Random Coldplay thoughts...

I find it hilarious that folks tend to like either Avicii's version of ASFOS or the piano only version most! It goes to show that Coldplay had a more mellow version, which would have been the most fitting for Ghost Stories, while Avicii had an absolute banger and they came together to make something that is just kind of lukewarm with the final product. I like the acoustic piano version too, but it goes to show that the melody gets old after awhile (song is too repetitive).

I will say however, when the song is played with real "rock" drum fills rather than the dull 4x4 bass kick, it is way better and more energized. This performance blew me away--felt like a whole new song on that chorus:

  • I just wanted to say, after 5 years of being part of the Coldplay fandom, first on Coldplaying, now on Coldplaying, Twitter and other platforms, a wonderful thing happened today: Coldplay followed me

  • I ran away
    I ran away

On this day exactly 5 years ago, a young and innocent person who was just getting really into Coldplay wanted to sign up on a forum called Coldplaying. Faced with the question of what to pick as a use

  • Today exactly 5 years ago, I joined the Coldplaying community and I don't regret that that. To be honest, it's probably one of the best things that have happened in my life! I had never thought I woul

What's wrong with Army Of One!?!

Of course it's no way near as good as Speed Of Sound, Shiver or most of their older songs but I really do think it's one of A Head Full Of Dreams's best though !

It has something that really makes me feel great ! And I think that this is an underrated song.

What do you think about it ?

Personally one of my least favorite...and Synth-pop is one of my favorite genre. I just don't find it very pretty or uplifting. The beat is too repetitive and the little electronic Chris voices feel kinda amateurish. A good synth-pop song needs lots of complex crazy sounds. I personally think this one is underproduced, but just for my taste.

Okay, thanks for sharing your thoughts.

It opens epic. The drumbeat is awesome, it begins greatly and the organs sound great in the beginning. Then everything goes quiet, then the organs play again. But really, that's all the variation that is. It begins great, but becomes a snoozer VERY quickly because it's too repetitive and it's the same thing over and over. Had there been more variation, I'd have liked it better. But because the most variation there is is the drumbeat stopping for once, it makes for a sub-par track overall IMO.

At least it has a real drumbeat, unlike most songs in this album and most music today honestly.

This version is amazing too. Love the live version of this!

The thing I like about Avicii's version is that it's at the right tempo. The original version was a little slow if you actually wanted something dancey (although it's great just for listening casually). I love the "mellow" version as well. And Avicii edit is PERFECT for the "dancey" ASFOS. And the live version is the "rocky" ASFOS if you get what I mean and is also very good! Really l like all version of ASFOS, such an underrated songs!

I like it! It has a good melody with the strong lively bass in the background as well the muted guitar. The drumbeat is pretty nice too.

Agreed and, Yeah, if there was more variation I'd also find it much better.

Yeah, the Guy's bass lines are great ! And Jonny's solo is also pretty awesome at the end. I also like the drumbeat very much but it could've been much and much better !

Anyway, thanks for your opinions guys !:)

I just relistened to AHFOD entirely and I here are some thoughts that crossed my mind...

- Songs like HFTW and XMTS make me think that Chris actually wants to be a rap/hip hop singer but is caught in the unfortunate situation of being in a band called Coldplay, of whom people expect to make music that the band Coldplay would make

- Although I don't really like HFTW, I listened to it just while in the last efforts of work before the weekend and it was really uplifting :D

- AOAL would be a much better song if there weren't these stupid jifadaeeh magick magick sounds throughout the riff, annoying as hell ! if I were able to lay my hands on the AOAL stems I would cut this crap out first thing. Same background crap ruins Army of One.

- To my surprise,I found out I had rather negative memory associations of the release of AHFOD. I realized it was released/leaked during a time which I was unhappy and homesick

Did you listen to the remake? It completely removes those sounds (which I don't mind, but I still like the remake better). :D

Wait, what! What remake ? Where could I find it, I only know about the ''A Head Full Of Dreams Redreamed'' versions.

I can't stress enough how I just hate AHFOD in it's entirety, it's just not Coldplay... :(

Has made me really appreciate the better tracks on GS and all of MX (minus Rihanna)

Hi guys,

What do you think, will 15th of June Wembley show sold out? I don´t wanna attend half empty concert :D

I agree with these parts of your post. I didn't like HFTW the first time I listened to it. The rest of the album was good, even when it is a completely different style I could find something that makes it a Coldplay album. But with HFTW it took me a while to enjoy listening to it. Maybe the message the band wants to share or the rhythm makes me enjoy it.

And in relation to the way you see AHFOD I think your experiences might have influenced it. Of course I also understand the change in style isn't what you might like but this reminds me the way Coldplay see X&Y. It is a great album, but it brings memories Coldplay doesn't want to remember. I think AHFOD isn't their best album but it helps me to keep in mind that there are amazing things out there that I want to see. It doesn't matter what horrible experiences I face I will always treasure the good ones. I hope you are in a happier stage, we all need that and I hope you like HFTW even more, and maybe you can include it in your guilty pleasure playlist lol :D

I'll be there [emoji1][emoji1][emoji1]

I think AHFOD it's a great album although it's different from the others. But I also understand people that doesn't like this album so much... Luckily I'm not one of those [emoji28]

You know what I love about AHFOD, it's giving people appreciation for MX for once.

Not sure where to post this so I will post it here, have you guys seen this video?

It's nice to see the guys behind the scenes and doing their rehersal! They even sang for a couple who I think had their anniversary if I heard correctly! :) So sweet of them!

The acoustic version of ASFOS is 1000000 times better than the studio version imo. I love it so much.

I so agree. Chris sounded at his best on this.

I love the song, simply because it makes me stupidly happy. It's still my fave off the album.
