i hope they keep doing VLV live...for such a hard song to do live, it was amazing, music wise! the only thing that i thought would have made it musically better was a live string quartet.

vocally...one of chris's worst. but really, i think that's ok. i think we were all so excited for the FIRST performance that we built it up in our minds as going to be AMAZING, and we're a bit let down. realistically, it was probably not going to be that great simply because it's their first time in front of a real audience and on TV in more than a year. frankly, i'm just surprised that chris was THAT nervous. of course some nerves are inevitable, but they're a huge band! it's not like they're new onstage. i've never really seen nerves so obvioulsy affect their performances ever before. can anyone else think of any?

personally, i'm not disappointed, just surprised. for the first few lines, that sounded NOTHING like chris to me, not even an ounce. it was almost like the only thing flashing across his mind was "OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG," which i didn't expect. that's ok, though. i just know he's either kicking the walls of his dressing room or in tears, which is the worst part of it all, i think.

youtube update: the only damn thing there is 'the twilight preview clip'

And i thought that looked sucky

maybe a new song that no one has heard before? like 42? seemed like a good tim eto play the album's best track to me

Yeah I see what you mean. I guess Viva was the most amibitious so they wanted to test themselves? I don't know. :)

I agree, maybe this will be so hyped as bad to people like me and Semy that when we do see it, we'll be pleasantly surprised. You know?

Hey, Jon Favreau (Iron Man director) thanked the boys in his speech, and he actually flung that stupid confetti at Robert Downey, Jr. when they accepted an award earlier. It was kinda funny. And true it wasn't their best performance, but like others have said they'll work the kinks out before touring.

Chelsea, I think you've hit it right. And poor Chris...total fear and absolute discomfort...:(

Adam Sandler got a better applause after his performance.

Well, the show Chris put on tonight, they would've been better off w/ Life in Technicolor.

who cares? lol

I'd say most of it was laughter

first performance. coldplay always improve their performances. i have two examples: fix you and talk this two songs sound bad in their first performances then coldplay learn to play it live. coldplay its a very human band that is what i like of them. they are not the gods of music they have bad and good days but when they have 100% of confidence they are impressive. im not gonna watch it i want to see them live. (damn the haters are gonna get out of their caves and they gonna talk bullshit).

MTV coldplay

in the words of an instant gratification culture: Someone PLEEEEASE Post the performance NOW!!!! :shocked2:

:P

Fingers crossed! I see Im not the only scouser who didnt get it then lol :D

I keep seeing a commercial saying Usher is performing at the VMAs, what if Coldplay is dueting with him?

In the MTV Canada chat, where people aren't die-hard Coldplay fans I asked how was Coldplay performance and a girl told me that it was amazing. And another asked the name of the song they've played.

Yeah exactly, I feel like ive been prepared for the worst now, so hopefully when i see it, there won't be any high expectations to get me disappointed.

the people who watch mtv listen mostly to rap and other shit music

Honestly, I did like the performance. I was just disappointed in the song up until the end of the first chorus.

But the band was great.

But let's hope one of the PCDs pulls an Ashley Simpson; then VLV will go down as an unbelievable performance.

:D

hmm

ok i'm going to change the topic from "great vs. not great"

what is going on with chris's hair?

it was like crazy curly all over the place.

what happened to him balding?

haha, i love how much they're playing the apple commercial :nice:

mich: i think because you've all heard us bash it, really, you might be pleasantly surprised. hell, the next time i see it, i might not think its so bad. but on first viewing, especially with his first few lines, i was just making this face: :stunned:. all i can say is poor chrissy.

well im 100% bullet proof coldplay fan even if chris falls against the drums in a awards performance im gonna fucking love it i like the way the band is. its such an inspiration in my life. so who cares their first performance i want to see them live.

coldplay is going to end as the best part of this award show bc everyone else sucks

That's similar to reactions I'm now getting from people who don't typically listen to them :) It's good for the band and the album, at least!
