Coldplay to perfom at MTV Movie Awards on June 1

Featured Replies

8:24 PM ET - So with all the hype surround the Coldplay performance... I have to admit.. a bit of a let down! And as un-environmentally friendly as I may be, was there really a need for all that confetti? Still great, though.

Says MTV.ca

is that from the blog on MTV, Mich?

Whattt?? How can you people say this was bad? It was fucking MTV and it was the their first performance of new music in FOREVER so of course its going to be low key and awkward, because there's MAYBE like 10 real Coldplay fans in the audience. Just wait till the entire crowd is full of Coldplay fans. Then Chris will feel right at home and sing wonderfully!

I think it was amazing to see how they actually perform it. The bell was great, Jonny's guitar was sick, and I can totally see Chris performing a killer piano solo during the middle breakdown. I can't wait for this live because I know it will sound great in the right atmosphere :D

Exactly what I was thinking:cool:

The best part was the video playing in the background of the band on strings. Haha.

agreed thought that was awesome and the band was awesome!

the way u can kinda tell it wasnt that great was that the audience was really not into it at all...but maybe its cause its a new song...

what the heck does MTV know about music...all they ever play is rap and pop.

same with the freakin celebrities they wouldn't know good music if it slapped them in the face. i loved it, screw off mtv.

lol i watch the talk performance in the grammy and then i watch the performance in toronto its a way of difference. i dont watch it (vlv performance) but i know that their live concerts are a way better. so dont say 'if it was a bad performance i dont want to listen coldplay anymore' its not good. there a lot of bands who sound bad in the awards i remember a u2 performance of beautiful day when bono cant reach the high notes.

The Grammy performance of "Talk" is precisely what this reminded me of... It will likely be incredible at a full gig, but it just fell on its musical face tonight.

just a few minutes and we'll get a link "Just be patient and don't worry" :P

That was shit, period. WTF? Why was Chris out of breath the whole time?

i think the more intense bits of the song could have been better highlighted than just with confetti. i was thinking really cool light explosion...i thought the confetti was slightly underwhelming. that's got nothing to do with the guys, though, just me being picky :P

i just really hope chris isn't a wreck

Aww I'm worried about Chris. He must be so sad now :( If we all think he was brilliant he wouldn't think he was that good. If we think he was not that good, I can imagine how he'd feel =/

they were great....they got a standing ovation...wasnt a bad performence at all....

If it wasn't ggood then it makes me love them even more, because of Chris' nervousness etc. They're only human after all. Can't wait to see this :D

It's a blog on the Canadian MTV site.

ah..its pretty spot on...too much confetti..not enough build up to the actual performance...

this venue was probably not the best place to go live for the first time....oh well..its over now....all awesome gigs from now on:)

Thanks for the reassurance man. I'm sure it wasn't ALL bad, but I still need to see it myself to judge.

And I hope someone recorded this! If anyone finds a youtube link or anything, let us know! :D

Im searching now!

Hello everyone! This will be my first post, but I went ahead and recorded their performance of "viva la vida." I do agree that he was nervous throughout, but they did great as a whole. I'll be putting up the video once the file is restructered for youtube.

you try singing in front of hundreds live, and millions at home and see if youre out of breath

i just really hope chris isn't a wreck

He totally will be

the only time he sounded really out of breath were the

"For some reason I can't explain" parts.

Chirs must be feeling so low now if the performance was bad

That was shit, period. WTF? Why was Chris out of breath the whole time?

He was nervous as hell, give him a break. He knew he was performing in front of a bunch of people who probably think theyre gay and hate their music. Even when Liv Tyler introduced them she kind of hesitated on the words "such wonderful poetry as...". No one wanted them there, and they knew it:\

he was nervous! plain and simple...get up in front of a crowd of celebrities and a million people watching live and see if you get out of breath;)

it was awesome!! not their best, but still awesome!:D:D:D.....and then they followed it with the coldplay itunes commercial which was cool ;)
