May 15, 200818 yr thank you very very much!!! amazing we have the video so many days before the official release!!! didn't like the video! the song has so much material for a great video and the guys waste the opportunity!!! you can't try to be funny so many times on a row (Talk, The Hardest Part) 'cause the third time you might miss!!! sorry guys! amazing song, terrible video!
May 15, 200818 yr Funny video. What is Chris doing at the end? Walking on snow? It reminded me of a baby deer trying to take its first steps.
May 16, 200818 yr Has anyone else noticed yet that Chris says something at 1:24 in between strokes of the hammer?
May 16, 200818 yr It's bizarre and funny. But it doesn't fit with the song. It's cool but Violet hill deserves a more epic work. However I really love the ending with Chris in the snow.
May 16, 200818 yr Thankyou so much for posting this. I had a feeling the video was going to be good as it is very very good. I get a very military feel from the video. The start is like a shot from a Clint Eastwood cowboy film with the shakey out of focus camera. When they first appear walking across the hill in the formation and Chris checks behind him, ask any serviceman they will tell you that is a typical patrol formation and to have a guy at the back checking the rear. The drums Will and Guy are banging are old military drums used in marching bands hundreds of years ago when soldiers used to march to battle. The part when they are all round the piano singing, it is in fast forward just like old footage from world war 1, so many films of soldiers gathered round a piano singing and dancing. And at the end when Chris is in the snow to me that looks like a wounded soldier trying to make it back and struggling. Maybe im looking into to much. And there clothes aswell very heavily military influenced, the epelets on the shoulders, Chris's trousers with the stripe down the side are very very 1700's military style. Say what you will but seems to me the video was planned to be hinting war or soldiers in some shape or form. Very well directed video and definetly interesting, I think Chris walking down a street singing was getting old, not that Fix you was bad is still one of my favourites. Wow. The vid seems a tad deeper now. :laugh3:
May 16, 200818 yr cheers! awesome video, i cracked up at some parts though. LOL @ chris and the magnifying glass
May 16, 200818 yr I like it, but I think it was because my expectations were low... I mean, from last album the only video that I really liked was Talk, Speed of Sound and Fix You were boring and unoriginal to me, and The Hardest Part... well, one of the worst videos that I have seen in my whole life! So I wasn't expecting anything exceptional this time. If there is going to be a "Viva la Vida" video, I really expect something epic for that one, I mean that song has such a great potential for a spectacular video, that if it turns to be another simple, boring, band-focused video I'm gonna be really disappointed.
May 16, 200818 yr They look like extras in a Sharpe film :D Just need Sean Bean & the rest of the 85th Rifles stood behind them and it would be perfect :stunned: That's more or less what I was thinking... well, the extras part, anyway. The video finished and I half expected that "over the hills and far away" song to start playing. (Actually, looking it up now there's even some vague similarity between the songs... or maybe I'm just crazy.) Hey, wasn't some of the show filmed somewhere around that area? The terrain looks really similar. I like it, anyway. :nice:
May 16, 200818 yr wow, that's ... bizarre their outlandish sense of humour is getting a bit frustrating, though; the last three videos have been kinda piss-taking (Talk, Hardest Part, now this) and it doesn't fit the music but at least it gave me a few well-needed hahas
