Old Coldplay.

 

watch a Clocks performance of 2003, then of 2005 and then 2008. There is nothing more to say. The 2003 performance makes me almost cry and the 2008 just doesn't.

 

:o I actually like the 2005 version best, the one with the countdown is :heart:age

 

But I agree, they've just lost their... like, emotional integrity. :\ All they do now is put on a show rather than making real music. Blargh.

They're trying to go artistically forward and do something that hasn't been done before, but in quite a few areas they're recycling or developing on ideas from other bands. Also all the showy stuff distracts you from the raw emotion of the song methinks.

Saying "I like them both" isn't answering the question. It's asking which you prefer. I like both, but I prefer the old.

 

Eh...methinks you need to take this up with the pollmaker then. I voted "I like them both" because the option was there.

Nothing can beat AROBTTH for me.

 

Although I do still love the new stuff.

I don't really mind both eras, but i find I like their earlier stuff a lot better so i voted for old. I think that they are trying to explore new grounds in terms of music styles, but at the same time i think that they are loosing a little bit of themselves which to me made their first albums so good.

I just love my Coldplay...old, new, and everything in between..

I like them both, but also prefer the older Coldplay music which is really more magical than the newer.

X&Y deserves more credit than it gets.

Parachutes: softer, sweeter songs and very simple casual dress and very still on stage

 

AROBTTH: intense, rougher music, black stage uniforms, live shows more arena-rock feel

 

X&Y: more movement on stage, spacier songs, more focus on effects live

 

VLVOD: pop-ier songs with less rock elements, over-the-top stage presence and stage attire

I said new because to me they get better and better every album. Parachutes was amazing, but every new album gets better! So it's not so much that I don't like their old stuff, because I love it so much, it's so amazing:D, but every new album is MORE amazing somehow!:shocked2:

For me it's both. Like some already said, they have been changing over the years and each album has a different ambiance, a different environment. So I love each step they took with from different perspectives.

There both good, but I prefer old, but I'm not saying they shouldn't have made the new and stuck with the old Coldplay either

Agreed 2. There's so much more to 'new' Coldplay. P and AROBTTH are good records but if they'd stayed the same I don't think I would like them as much and they certainly wouldn't be one of my favourite bands.

 

I just think Viva is better than the other albums in pretty much every way. I'd love it if they topped it and I think they can.
