Albums in Japan are about 2-3x more expensive there, they want to give them an incentive to actually buy the album than steal it from somewhere.

i have the feeling that the album will leak near the end of this month.

i think not before 18/19 Oct...by the way, viva was leaked quite late, 5 days before the official release.. i hope to hear MX as soon as possible, the end of sept would be perfect..

I think around Oct. 3rd, 4th or 5th.

We still need to go BUY it. A successful LP5 will guarantee a sixth album.

I will definitely listen to the leak, but then again I pre ordered the pop-up, and Im buying the normal physical cd on Oct. 25, so I won't feel guilty :D

Oh yeah, I actually forgot that it's released quite a bit earlier than the 24th in some places. Man, I wish I could revise my vote. I'd say somewhere in early October in that case.

Exactly. It's perfectly fine not to know how it works, but a small bit of research will tell you that there's basically no way this thing (or really any major album) won't leak.

People want this album. It will be sought after in the production stages; no matter what EMI or the boys have planned to prevent it, it will leak. God forbid it does though... everyone should chip in for their early retirement fun, amirite?

Yeah, I remember joining this forum during Prospekt's March's leak and there was a (totally understandable and fair) policy about keeping leaks from the public forum viewers, so even though I'm not a staff member, everyone should keep that in mind when the moment comes. (and really, leaks of this scale are NOT difficult to track down)

 

If Coldplay is intelligent and follows the wise footsteps of other artists in the last couple years, they will stream the album from their website in the weeks prior to discourage people from downloading a leak and thereby not paying for it. A lot of bands wait for the leak to actually happen before they put up a stream, but assuming no obscenely early leak happens, they should take the Foo Fighters route and just throw it up on their site 2 weeks prior.

I remember being pissed off because The Suburbs leaked the day I left on vacation for a week, so I couldn't listen to it until a week after everyone else. (and the album was out legally by then, haha)
