Why do we hate "parapara" and "wawawa" but not "slowowowow"?

Featured Replies

The slow-ow-ow-ow-ow it down in UATW, that is.

Or how about I-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-i in Fix You.

Food for thought.

Maybe because these songs contain a little bit more lyrics? Hell I don't know, the wawawas and paraparas are just annoying as FUCK :shame:

I have no problem with any of those, but this Para-para thing is a bit dull.

well....I don't like Us Against the World at all. But it's just a bit annoying. However, I'm not actually that annoyed by the song, I now think it's not bad.

I think because para-para-paradise and wa-a-a-aterfall make up the entire chorus. Like . . . that's literally all there is, whereas with UAtW it's 'slo-o-o-o-o-o-ow it down'. There's a bit more meat there lyric-wise.

The same with Fix You--it comes during Jonny's epic riff so it sort of fits. In fact, I think it would sound weird if they had cut the I-I-I-I-IIIII short

Their catchy as fuck too

They're doing something different. They've been the band that "ooh" for ten years, now they want to be the band that stammer. Let them stammer, goddammit.

I like The wawas and paras..

Its not a general opinion to hate it

What about 'come on yeaahhh, ohhh ohhh yeaahhh, come on yeahh, Everything's Not Lost' for about 2 minutes? If Coldplay released A Whisper today then there'd be murder! I don't have an issue with wa wa waterfall or para para paradise (in fact I really like it the first time Chris sings in in the song in his low voice).

@Howyousawtheworld - Agreed about Chris' singing. I think he sounds spectacular in Paradise :D

Because these songs are more.... well I think more mature than Paradise and ETIAW (No hate intended)

LOL. good point. it is catchy though, ive enjoyed all their songs so far

Also, everyone hates: "Up in flaaaaames, up in flaaaaames, up in flaaaaames."

But no one hates: "Youuuuuu areeeee, youuuuuu areeeee, youuuuuu areeeee."

Let them para-para and wa-wa-wa if they like!!:P (I like it by the way)

Hah funny thread! You sure got a point. I like all the OOOH and waaaa and para para they come up with, as long as they keep making fantastic songs, they can pronounce as they see fit :)

There's one thing chris always does in he's songs and thats

"oh-oh-oh-oh-oh"

You hear that in almost every coldplay song.

This. It's starting to get annoying.

The point is, paraparaparadise and wawawaterfall lack serious inspiration, actually make up substantial parts of the chorus (if not the whole chorus), and sound annoying as fuck. Up In Flames just hurts my ears because of the falsetto and because it's the actual chorus.

Whereas I-i-i-i-i-i-i, youuuuu aaaaaare and slooooooow it down are just part of the lyrics, don't sound annoying at all, and whisper whisper has a mysterious feel. Everything's not lost has something epic, something hypnotising.

Sometimes repetitiveness is annoying, sometimes it sounds great, just not in every context. That's my point of view.

Even The Beatles are repetitive... CAN'T BUY ME LOOOOOOOOVE and so on. xD I still think that repetitiveness isn't bad at all, and songs have always been repetitive, it's part of music, now it just looks like an easy excuse to say the new material is bad. Also, I still can't hear "wawawawaawawa" in ETIAW, just wa-a-a-a-a-a, but whatever...

Hey I looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooove it.
