Favorite little moments on Mylo Xyloto?

Featured Replies

I am absolutely stunned by:

HLH - the guitar outro and Chris's vocals

UFO - the little 15 second outro to POC, i really didn't expect it, it went right on the spot :D

A hopeful transmission + DLIBYH - IMO the most massive Coldplay song ever (lock me in the tower if I'm wrong!)

And, the last but not the least, in UWTB the moment when Chris sings "to a wonderful world" and the strings build up. It made me shed a tear.

Basically the whole album could fit very well into the soundtrack of a movie, it has a nice cohesive feel to it.

The complete album but if i had to choose ,,, A hopefull transmission leading into DLIBYH

I love the ending of UWTB. And as of UATW, I adore the whole damn song!

My favourite moment is definitely the lyric in UWTB:

'good things are coming our way'

it is just truly amazing, I cant get over how good this album is!

U.F.O. at 0:50, when the strings come in...

The piano outro of Charlie Brown...

"Armed with the spray can soul"

- The intro and bassline entrance of UAtW :dazzled:

- The 'I hear those crocodiles ticking . . .' bit in Major Minus

- The 'oohhhhhh' in the background during the last verse of Charlie Brown

- The transition from M.M.I.X. to ETiaW; I don't really care for either song, but the buildup is epic

- That you can hear Chris plucking the guitar strings in U.F.O. and the way he sings 'go'

- The piano in Up In Flames

- The intro and bass-drop in Princess of China :wacky:

- Transition between AHT and DLIBYH (and DLIBYH in general)

- Ending of UWtB

In Charlie Brown, when Chris sings "run on a spinning globe" and then theres that spinning sound effect. and then right after that when there is a lul and then the guitar and drums picks right back up. and then the outro with the piano. Charlie Brown really is a masterpiece in its own right.

The last 3 Songs leading into each other i love that.

When you can hear the acoustic scratches from the pick grazing the strings in UFO.

And when you hear the piano keys thump the wooden frame gently at the end of Charlie Brown.

Made my day. Small details, but appreciated nonetheless.

THIS. Really.

But I love DLIBYH so much, on of the best songs .

When you can hear the acoustic scratches from the pick grazing the strings in UFO.

...or the faded glockenspiel (Xylo-toes?) in the first part of UWTB?

I definitely agree with you. I've noticed that there are a lot of subtleties and fine tweaks in it that really make it a good listen.

Great thread! Mainly because I think MX is full of those moments...

I couldn't agree more with these quotes:

When you can hear the acoustic scratches from the pick grazing the strings in UFO.

When the bass finally comes in during UATW

- «I hear those crocodiles...» bla bla. LOVE this part

"Armed with the spray can soul"

And, addind some more things:

I LOVE Jonny's first riff in DLIBYH,

that extremelly beautiful guitar intro of UATW

Chris's voice very clear in UATW and the way he says "talking", making the most of his british english accent :P

the verse "you use your heart as a weapon and it hurts like heaven",

the expression "concrete canvas"

Some more to be added later I think :P

the Sigur Ros sample into Princess of China

When they yell, "Light a fire!" in Charlie Brown

The beat in Up In Flames, mixing perfectly with Chris' falsetto

Chris' "oooo" with the violin at the end of Hurts Like Heaven

I'm crazy about this album. soo good

HLH- "Yes i feel a little bit nervous, yes I feel nervous and I cannot relax!" BRILLIANT!

UATW- The organ!!! The vocal! Brilliant

UWTB- The little guitar scratch, sparkly things, whatever they are, y'know what i mean! Amazing!

PoC- When Rhianna and Chris sing together!! Brill, and that ending!!!!

There are so many beautiful little (and big) things on this masterpiece.. I think I can't name all of them...

When chris sing "don't let it break your heart

When start don't let break your heart

"In my scarecrow dreams"

MMIX

para-para-para...

All Us Against The World (love the intro, is beautiful)

Jonny's guitar in the end of Major Minus

When Rihanna and Chris sings together ( really )

The Outro of Charlie Brown

"When you use you haerat as a weapon..."

the middle of U.F.O is great

Up in flames: sound really beautifull

And the great final

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh......................... (UWTB)

The 'oooh's in Hurts like Heaven, especially after the 'down with the spray can soul' verse

The huge, erupting chorus of Paradise

The last minute or two of Charlie Brown

The beautiful intro to UATW

How U.F.O is so beautifully simple

The distorted synths and guitar in PoC, and the 'I could have been a princess...' verse

How AHT blends so well wih DLIBYH

The heartbeats in DLIBYH

The 'ahhs' in UWTB, and the entire second section of it

Songs I previously thought I wouldn't like (studio version of HLH and CB) are really growing on me. This is one FANTASTIC album.

- On every street, every car

every surface are names

and at the streets

ARIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII

:dazzled:

- will acute "AAAAAH" backing vocal at the "SO WE'RE SOOOOOO, LUMINOUS AND WILD..."

- still on me though (though-though-though-though-though)

trying to catch a cannon baaall

:dazzled:

-The outro to UFO with the weird plucking of the guitar and then the crackling synth of Princess of China.

-"Trying to catch a cannon ball!!!" (not just the lyrics, but the way he sings that part) DLIBYH!

-The Ooohs at the last verse of Charlie Brown.

-The Piano outro to Charlie Brown

-The synthy, cosmic texture to Princess of China at 0:09.

-1:50 at Up With The Birds. The twinkling guitar and the violin. It's heaven.

-The orchestra at 1:19 in UFO.

-The Alien sounds at the end of A Hopeful Transmission.

-The bass drop in Princess of China when Chris comes in for the first time. The synth echoes out and the bass goes BOOM!!!

-IT'S J-J-JUST US AGAINST THE WORLD!! (Major Minus)

-The streets ARIIIIIIIIIIIISSE!!!!! Won't let 'em take control no we won't let 'em take control! YES I feel a little bit nervous, yes I feel nervous and I cannot relax, they're coming 'round to geeeet us, how come they come when they donno the facts.

-The second guitar solo in Hurts Like Heaven

-3:37 Hurts Like Heaven AHHHHH AHHOOOOOOOOO AHH OOOOOOOO!!!!

-M.M.I.X sounds like the tuning of an orchestra to me and it's pure heaven.

-The chord after the last 'It's Us Against The World' in UATW. (And the last chord of the song)

-The Alien 'ahhhs' in Up With The Birds.

-The bassy heart thumps in DLIBYH and AHT.

-The piano at the end of Up With The Birds.

I like this album :)

What I Adore:

- The "Ohhs" in Hurts Like Heaven

- The intro to Charlie Brown

- U.F.O.

- Don't Let It Break Your Heart

- Up With the Birds (but I don't like that weird synth cut that wobbles in the middle of the song)

I have SO many.

I'd label them all if I didn't have to go to bed. But it's all good because practically all of mine are pretty much on here.

Although those background alien noises in CB are funky. I haven't decided if I like them a lot yet.

Though I really love UATW, it's just so much more to me than UIF was made out to be.

But really this album is new. Fresh. Amazing. I cannot believe the transition here, from VLV to this stuff. Just- amazing.

"Like a river to a raindrop-" I think they got Will singing (definitely faded though) in the back. That part is amazing.

Let's see:

Hurts Like Heaven

Intro of Charlie Brown

Intro of Us Against The World

M.M.I.X. / Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall transition

U.F.O. acoustic guitar

"You stole my star, lalalala lala" part from Princess of China

Chris singing '"Can we pour some water on?"

A Hopeful Transmission / DLIBYH transition

UP WITH THE BIRDS

Idk why but I really like how MX and A Hopeful Transmission are the same tune. It kinda ties the album together.
