LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"

HLH in my opinion is one of Coldplay's great masterpieces. This is a good point. It has a sound entirely unique to itself and has such lush, textured production that the song is super deep and artistic, not to mention the perfect mix of rock instrumentation with electronic "xylobrytes."

I don't see them making a track in that vein again though. If they do, I would guess it would be on the dancier side of things with more of a groove rather than a riff. This whole pop discussion does make me realize that we shouldn't worry too much. They have done really great unique pop in the past. Even Paradise stands out as a superior pop song. My concern remains however, what if AHFOD has a great instrumental base to it, with great tracks at the core, but gets watered out and overproduced by the likes of Stargate or another EDM star? BRING BACK ENO!

Chris recently wrote a note to calvin harris. I don't know if he's working with the band or not, i hope not. [emoji52]

I had this feeling that the band is aiming to top the charts again. I mean single-wise. Sort of a follow up to Viva la Vida's success.

all this talk made me wanna listen to hurts like heaven again, what a great song, especially the guitar in it

and to be honest:

nicki minaj >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> nickelback

cause she's fucking pretty good at her genre, nickelback are shit at their genre

coldplay's poppiest songs are: etiaw, paradise and asfos, the others are too laid back to be considered that much radio friendly. I love asfos, because it has a great chorus and 0 of that annoying falsetto chris uses in paradise or etaiw.

I absolutely cant stand etaiw, worst coldplay song ever

ETIAW is one of the most outstanding tracks is MX!!! That song is great! I love it! And the music vídeo, maybe the best MV Coldplay ever made.

The drums, the guitar and Chris' voice and Guy.. It is pop, but still is better than almost every song of Ghost Stories. This is my opinion. :)

When I first listened to ETIAW on my PC, I wanted to reach through the monitor and personally strangle Chris :|

But then I saw the Rock Am Ring festival they did where they played the new MX songs and I started liking the song. And nowadays I find the beginning and the middle of the song alright, but love the outro with the drums and all the other instruments going crazy and the faint chorus in the background.

When I first listened to Paradise, I was like

and thEN THESE FUCKERS MANAGED TO MAKE ME LIKE THAT SONG AS WELL

^ it is because they were made by Coldplay. No matter how shitty the songs are, fans will always like. Even asfos that i don't like because that is not Coldplay, but musically speaking, it is a good song.

There is no worst coldplay song, in my opinion. There are just some songs that are better than others.

My worst Coldplay song is another's arms.

I'm so with you on this.. I'm surprised Will approved of it's boring melody haha.

Maybe because...Will doesn't agree with either of you

My worst Coldplay song is another's arms.

Anothers arms is great, on the other hand, a sky full of stars is [emoji52] The only person in the band that likes it is chris, he had a little argument with the the boys about including it in ghost stories.

ETIAW is amazing! I don't get why peeps can't like it!? That song was the only MX track to make my local "quality rock" radio station. I love the synth intro, it just fills you up, and when that acoustic guitar kicks, with its folky vibe, I melt every time. It is pure ectasy. Chris' falsetto is imperfect which makes it perfect, and the guitar, drums and bass just propel the track forward. It is pop, but barely, the song does have a non-pop structure after all, just building to a massive crescendo.

Another's Arms is great too. Listen to the instrumental and you might be more impressed. Lyrically is it bland? Yes. Does the drumbeat need more dynamics? Absolutely. But the whole vibe is incredible and the finale of that track has a great bassline and guitar solo that really is "slicing." Love it.

ASFOS is just incredibly meh. It isn't bad, it isn't great. And that is what makes it so offensive despite its clear strengths: It's conformity to EDM and lack of creativity. Not to mention the fact that it should not have been put on Ghost Stories!

Etiaw is a great song, i agree. I love will's drumming on the song. Another's arm's played live is phenomenal! way better than the studio version! I'm not an edm fan but asfos is ok. It should've been replaced with ghost story.

Obviously..

Every time i come on this site and see the chat box filled with this thread i assume there is some news about the album, only to find out the thread went completely off-topic.

the music video is great, i love the editing and colours in it, but the song is awful, the only part i love is the drums

omg what

The drums are the best part of the song.
