September 8, 201510 yr IMAGINE, just imagine the band sounding like that again! I still have some hope for LP8. I agree that is a beautiful, beautiful sound...reminds me of Lou Reed or Jeff Buckley just so passionate & raw....floats...[emoji7][emoji599]
September 8, 201510 yr The theme song for the next James Bond film, Spectre, will apparently be released in a few hours... I've always dreamed of Coldplay doing a bond theme. Though it seems likely to be Sam Smith. Yup, sam smith it is
September 8, 201510 yr See Coldplay ? It's not hard to twitt something ! :D They retweet things more than they tweet for themselves. [emoji22]
September 8, 201510 yr At this point I'm over it. The gig is in 10 days. I can take 10 days of silence if by the end of it I get a new song. Plus, the guys in the band don't seem like the instagraming, duckface-selfie taking, social-networking type to me anyway. It was hard for me to imagine Will sending out a tweet out-of-the-blue from the studio. Well, maybe Guy, since he's into photography I guess, he would instagram....

The actual band don't use social media. It's Anchorman that's on social media, the band tells him what to tweet and post on facebook.
September 8, 201510 yr The actual band don't use social media. It's Anchorman that's on social media, the band tells him what to tweet and post on facebook. From what I gather, the band plus the various band characters (A-man, phil, etc) use the Coldplay account. The actual band members have been known to tweet, though rarely. Also don't think the band tell anyone else what to do on social media; they just have some social media guru type (A-man perhaps?) who handles it. But anywho, my original point was there's 10 days left to wait so its nbd to me

Even during eras where they gave updates I would hazard a guess they didn't seek to do it on their own initiative, rather a PR/Marketing person thought it would generate hype for the album. Missed marketing opportunity in my opinion as on the rare occasion Chris actually does something social media related (Justin Bieber single comes to mind) It creates quite a stir in and out of the fandom.
September 8, 201510 yr Don't get your hopes up guys. It is very possible that they will play short sets at the iHeartRadio AND Global Citizen Festivals with no new music.

I follow OneRepublic and Imagine Dragons on IG and they post like everyday.
September 8, 201510 yr Don't get your hopes up guys. It is very possible that they will play short sets at the iHeartRadio AND Global Citizen Festivals with no new music. While I agree that it's possible that they give us nothing new, it's more probable that they do. Given the history of past events, if I were to bet, I would bet we would get something new. Another poster also brought up that there would be little point to play this gig at all if it weren't for something new they wanna show us. But I guess that kind of mind set will likely set you up to be least disappointed. I follow OneRepublic and Imagine Dragons on IG and they post like everyday. Without googling it, I'd say Coldplay are slightly older than those other 2 bands. (edit: wiki checked, basically comparing upper 30s of coldplay vs mid 30 of 1R vs early 30s of ID, so I guess the age isn't a factor). But beyond that, Coldplay's personality just doesn't seem like they'd be tweeting a whole lot. They're come off as kinda shy, well-mannered, introverted even, lads (and i'm not saying that's a bad thing; just who they are).
September 8, 201510 yr They are working!! A little mystery does wonders They leave you wanting more and we do
September 8, 201510 yr Don't get your hopes up guys. It is very possible that they will play short sets at the iHeartRadio AND Global Citizen Festivals with no new music. There's no way they won't play new music, both concerts are global events. It wouldn't make sense not to play something new.
September 8, 201510 yr ^ Agreed. If they were only doing the Global Citizen festival, I wouldn't necessarily anticipate new material. As a stand-alone event it would be like Under 1 Roof was in 2013, where the only "new" song was Atlas. Since they will appear at the iHeart Radio festival, though, there is a much greater chance that we'll hear something new. I'm pretty sure most artists that have reached Coldplay's level of success would not randomly play at a big showcase event with nothing to promote. I'm 99% sure that we'll get something new.
September 8, 201510 yr Don't get your hopes up guys. It is very possible that they will play short sets at the iHeartRadio AND Global Citizen Festivals with no new music. There's too much hype and CP know that. Its almost obvious they will play new material.
September 8, 201510 yr I'm also pretty certain they will play something new. A place like iheart would be perfect to debut something, even if the album isn't entirely finished for another month or two. Otherwise it's a waste of time for them to stop and fly to Las Vegas. By now most people who go to music festivals like that know who Coldplay is, so they wouldn't be gaining any large amount of new fans doing it. It's definitely a promotion, although I would also say 2 songs at most from the new album will be played.
September 8, 201510 yr LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams" I'm also pretty certain they will play something new. In no particular order: PARADISE, VIVA, ASFOS, ETIAW, MAGIC and a new song. [emoji2][emoji111]️
September 8, 201510 yr If they are planning to play something new, it is very possible then that they will release at least one song (first single) before the actual set at the iHeartRadio Festival.
September 8, 201510 yr If they are planning to play something new, it is very possible then that they will release at least one song (first single) before the actual set at the iHeartRadio Festival. We've been saying that ever since for at least 3 weeks and yet...nothing....
September 8, 201510 yr Well... A release on Jonny's birthday (Friday I believe) could still happen! Probably unlikely but why not throw that thought back into the mix?
