Is there a reason they need to be in Coldplay HQ when they release the new single? The video's already been filmed so if they do a surprise release all they need is someone at the record label to send the single to the radio stations.

 

That was just a thought.

They are not specifically needed in HQ but I would expect them to stay around to do some promo when the single gets out?

 

In Belgium, when a band releases a new single (or an album) they go touring all the radio stations, TV shows,...

But this is Coldplay and not Clouseau, so maybe they don't need to do that. ;)

People, Coldplay are with a major label and are a huge band. They will either use the publicity machine that comes with it, i.e. release information to traditional media eg music mags, radio, etc such as demos of any new single / album along with a release date and reviews prior to actually releasing it... Or they might drop a surprise single ala Midnight.

 

Personally given that they've identified themselves that AHFOD is a major release, I am doubtful they will go the surprise drop route, although they could conceivably do it for one song... So I think we may have to wait some more.
