LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams" (DEC 4TH - Tracklisting in first post)

Ummm.. Hey everyone go check what Coldplay just tweeted. Music video for AOAL out on the 27th. But uh I hope some of the footage they're showing is a joke [emoji32]

I'm laughing so hard right now xD

OMG MUSIC VIDEO FOR AOAL LOOKS SICK HAHAHAHAHA PARADISE ELEPHANTS TO THE NEXT LEVEL

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Obama singing Amazing Grace, a poem being narrated, four completely different collabs, a disco song, a music video with apes and another one with a Holi theme. This era is going to be so much fun!

Amazing Day → could make you cry

according to the notes, seems like everything is uplifting

At the right lower corner:

How many of those songs are current vs songs you had conceived ?

With the video for AOAL scheduled to release on 27th, I really don't think we'll be getting a single anytime before the album release.

Agreed. Not that I was actually expecting one or really dying for one anyways.

HAHAHAHAHAHA THE MUSIC VID TEASER:laugh3:

Can't wait for the album, although I wish Colour Spectrum and Kaleidoscope were longer:(

Wait wait wait

Was Chris not joking when he said this? I am 112% sure he was joking.

SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT IS GOING ON WHY IS THIS ERA SO WEIRD

after watching the aoal video teaser, this just dawned on me. the point is, they don't give a sh*t! they are basically inviting all the mud (or worse) slinging their way and they couldn't care less.

really goes to show where they are as a band. it must be fantastic for the band dynamics. and makes me realize that although coldplay have been hinting they don't care what other people think (since about mx), they are finally there! why else would they have noel, beyonce, tove lo, stargate and mary clayton on the same album? have a clip of obama singing amazing grace? or have spoken word of a meaningful poem from 13th century?

makes you realize, they probably don't care if they couldn't reach #1 anymore. they are marginalizing quite a lot of people with the choices they have made in this album (including possibly "thanks god" lyric). not to mention releasing it on the heal of adele who is destined to rule for a good several weeks continuously. this is not pandering to the masses like has been constantly put up for debate on this thread. they are just being true to themselves.

what i'm trying to say is, realizing this makes me happy for the band. you may not be on board with certain choices they have made on this album (i certainly am not), but they have really left the shackles behind (like chris first said on mx, but didn't really look like it was 100% true). they are being brave by being themselves and being free. they are doing what they want to do and letting us make up our minds. that is free artistry to a level we haven't seen from coldplay before.

piggybacking off this image. I attempted to darken the words

1:31 significance? Has an arrow pointing to the AoaL lyrics. Probably means that the 1:31 mark in the song is important in some way

Kaleidoscope – musical drama? [something] at the top narration?

Army of One – uptempo

Birds – uptempo, something about freedom

Up&Up – “don’t ever give up”

One of the questions on the right-hand side is “what was going on in your life while you were making this music?”

Right below that: “[something] want to go uptempo – to put you into that moord or [something] you in it

Colour Spectrum is only 1:00 long :( OR it’s referring to the same thing the 1:31 is and that just means the one-minute mark in that song is important

I want to make it clear that I agree 100% and love that the band don't care what others think as well. But sometimes I do wonder how much of it is Chris and how much is J, W + G....

Birds – uptempo, something about freedom

I think the word is 'symbolizes'

This is exactly what I was thinking. I think is says duration not narration though.

^ Hmm, could be. I think "narration" makes more sense in the context of the sentence though

Good catch, I agree

i know what you mean. i do feel like, chris is his own worst enemy when it comes to creativity, because of certain restrictions he puts on himself. these have been pretty apparent since the parachutes interviews. i do feel like the rest of the band is shining through more and more with their own unique contributions lately more than ever. the obvious example is guy, who grew up in funk music. he is getting to shine and bring in his grooves now! didn't happen before, but it is now.

I had the same exact thoughts!! I was thinking that Coldplay has finally got to that point in their career where they honestly don't care anymore. They are gonna hit #1 and people are gonna buy their music and watch the videos. They don't have to try to make a good impression on people anymore because it's already been done.

Ryan Seacrest did say though that two of the tracks are shorter and Chris did say the word "interlude" so I'm pretty sure we could be seeing short songs again...this time with words.

See, when he said this, it seemed to me that Chris was correcting him as if to say they aren't tracks, meaning they were interludes between songs like the end of oceans/start of ASFOS but I don't think so now.

I'm proper upset that we'll have two less songs. I think I'm going to have to avoid these concerts because by the time Ghost Stories came out the only new ones to hear were True Love and Ink.

^ Coldplay needs to get rid of their darn interludes and just tack them on to one of the songs already :P I get so excited to see *~*~12~*~* tracks on an album, but that all goes poof when it turns out several of them are just short little things. Add in Amazing Grace (wtf?) and The Guest House and I start to wonder exactly how many minutes of "real songs" we're actually going to get.

As much as I rail on Ghost Stories, that was one thing I liked about it--no short little instrumentals that do nothing but pad out the tracklisting!
