I expected, at the minimum, experimentation and a hybrid between Viva and MX. We pretty much got exactly that. It took me a few listens to really 'acquire' the sound, but that's what Eno does best. It makes me wish they go back to Eno for LP8, or just from now on until forever, because they mesh together better than they should. The response to the song reminds me a lot of Midnight, but in a much more positive light. Coldplay is taking 10 steps in the right direction with this EP. [spoiler=Then realised the meaning behind the song and it being about fugees. I really really really hate it when music is going political, ] i'm happy you can ignore the whole aspect of that song going about this subject when you just listen to it of the EP seperately without the video. It's fantastic to be charitable with the proceeds but i think it's negative to let the music get influenced by it. Again it's Coldplay so they don't care to much of what is the most "popular" option. Krizer Posted July 6, 2017 Share Posted July 6, 2017 Wow! I wasn't expecting that. i'am happy I stayed up for longer and was able to hear this song :eek: I'am surprised. In a good way. The calm start, and the all the instruments kick in. The backing vocals later in the song fit the song really well. I am really excited to hear how this would sound live. At 2.22 (in the youtube lyric video, and I LOVE IT) "Just an alien" line and Chris' vocals, really got the goosebumps and the emotional, a bit sad, ending just nails it. Coldplay songs lately seem to come out just the right time. SJLT was an uplifting song when I was really stressed out and all I needed was to listen to my superheroes. Hypnotised, when I had fallen in love with this wonderful girl; AICTAIY was very fitting for that same time period. Miracles (Someone Special) when I was feeling very down, and now A L I E N S. The lyrics. "Oh we want to just get home again" is how I have been feeling for a long time now. I feel so lost in life right now in all of my personal stuff, whatever I do, I feel myself as an outsider, like just an alien. It seems as if the band's music is really speaking to me, it seems really weird. When I listen to Coldplay's music, I feel like I'm at home at least for one moment.
