Wow I really liked that! Do you guys remember that little 10 second clip that is in some interview/documentary thing of an unreleased song people thought might be Love in a Lethal Dose? That last part really sounds like a version of that melody! I will try to find that clip but ya that was an amazing song

Holy cow this is so weird but so so so so so good ahhhhhh

I love every single freaking thing about this. Every bit of instrumentation is spot-on (GUY'S BASS <3 ) and Chris's voice is absolutely gorgeous. Love when he uses his lower registers a bit. The strings at the end. The backing vocals from Rik and Brian. It sounds like they took all the synth-y stuff from X&Y, put in a dash of color from the MX era and blended it altogether with a heap of experimental Viva goodness.

I checked the timestamp halfway through the song because I was so scared it was about to end and I wasn't wanting it to!

I haven't given any song a 10/10 since the Viva era, but boy does this song come darn close

MORE BRIAN ENO COLLABS PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD

It's the same... :scream:

This remind me of a clip like that, Chris playing with an instrument, back in 2008 or 2009 I think, and it sounded just like Everglow.

That means it's a VLV B-Side ... I'm a little bit disappointed because they didn't create it in recent times and i hope they haven't lost that kind of inspiration now !

AAAAAH THIS SOUNDS SO NICE.

I'm bugging out.

The animation was so cute and melancholic. And I'm wondering, some people have thought this already and I saw this post on Instagram

I don't know if this is what they intended lol because some of the Viva jackets had corresponding colors.

There's also four of them. Unless the pink one could be Chris considering it was the most featured alien I think.

Also some commenters claimed it reminded them of the refugee crisis in Europe which I thought was interesting.

I'm pretty sure that the clips in the documentary are from the MX recording sessions as Eno was still working with the band at the time.

I'd rather see it as a leftover from MX but maybe the song was not finished before AHFOD? We'll never know :D

I'm perfectly happy with them releasing old Viva b-sides :p

Especially if they sound like this!

Ahah me too, i mean it's an awesome song but i hope Chris kept and the band have kept such good inspiration for the next studio album ! I'm full of hope now !

I don't hear A L I E N S so much.. but 20 seconds before that particular song.. I do hear Chris start the melody with his acoustic to UFO from Mylo Xyloto.

UFO.. Aliens.. so we're all hearing.. stuff.

Listened to this song twice now, here are somw thoughts:

During the first listen I kept the beat and synths caught me so off-guard that I kept thinking "Is this even Coldplay ?" So unlike anything they have done before

Refresheningly different from what they usually release, it seems they are finding their way back to more original music again !

Love the underlying melancholy/sadness in the song, which is evidently about refugees losing their home. This isn't a song that seems immediately accessible, I found it very hard to grasp and "alienating" but I think it's one of these songs that grows on you

A good release !

So it comes from VLV era? My fav album by the way.

The song is beautiful, the lyrics and the way is sung, the sound is different and relaxing, the violin at the end is just perfect; and finally the video is very touching.

Great job my boys.

It's very normal for bands to pull out old songs for new records.

Beautiful lyrics:

Watching my life on the skyline

Crossing your eyes for a lifetime.

Song proper:

The song is weird in some ways. Maybe because the beat is quite unique compare to other Coldplay songs. More like 15 Step if you ask me. I like the song. Need to listen to it more.

Wow, very unexpected and so different from what they've done before. I like when they experiment with new sounds and it will take more listens for the song to really grow on me.

This has to be "Alien Radio" or at least a re-worked version from the MX days. That would explain the snippet in the documentary, plus it has Brian Eno who was very much involved with Mylo Xyloto.
