I think it's awesome other bands are using them. Think about it: they might be used for decades to come, and they are named after a COLDPLAY ALBUM. :D [smoke is rising from the houses]

I could probably come up with a few answers to this, since I don't specifically remember. What I do remember is that one of the first times Coldplay truly made an impression on me was listening to Clocks on the radio and I remember loving the end bit ("and nothing else compares") - I still love that part of Clocks and that lyric today. I too am very happy that opinion has transformed in X&Y and Coldplay's favor. I don't get the hate on A Message though. Among Coldplay's complete discography it's among my favorites. It's a very touching and well executed love song in my opinion. [smoke is rising from the houses]

Coldplay's Fix You on NPR's list of "Songs that Make Us Cry" Wow, can't believe you mentioned Wait by M83. Even though it has few words it still manages to be hauntingly beautiful. By far and away my favorite on Hurry Up, We're Dreaming. [smoke is rising from the houses]

Hey Batman, just wanted to say I came in here just to quote those exact lines. That and the lines from Prospekt's March / Poppyfields someone quoted earlier are my two favorite pieces of Coldplay lyrics. My interpretation of Gravity is similar to yours. Gravity pushes down on everyone, it's a merciless, inescapable force. The bible (yes) talks about time and occurrence. That's basically what it is. It strikes at random no matter if you can take it or you can't. The planet is a beautiful place (with a sun and sky) but it's also tough to live on. The same double sided meaning exists in Don't Panic, which is my favorite Coldplay song over all. [smoke is rising from the houses]
