Well after watching the iTunes commercial for VLV I couldn't help but come to the conclusion that I think Coldplay is the quintessential band for Apple...something about them screams Apple. Not to mention everytime I go into the Apple Store they are playing GPASUYF or Talk or any song for that matter...the point is I always seem to hear a Coldplay song playing in there. Then I thought...well I am an avid Mac user. I have the 13" Blackbook and I love it. Then, today at work my manager brought in his white macbook to burn my Viva cd (his wouldn't burn onto iTunes for some reason). Then I thought all the people I know who love Coldplay as much as I do have Mac's. Does…

Okay, so obviously when an album comes out we're bound to compare this and compare that. We're going to want to pick favorites, and figure out whats gonna be on that dreaded Coldplay Greatest Hits in another ten years  (anyone seen Extras with Chris?) But for me, I cannot, based on the ridiculous amount of times I've listened to the album, and do not believe I will ever have a favorite song from this album...because they are all fucking amazing! Sure, I bet if I was forced, I could rank them, but you'd be forcing me to go to the hundredth decimal place to figure it out, maybe even thousandth. Chris's statement about this album being a bunch of colors, o…

The set leads Nielsen SoundScan's Building chart, released today (June 18), with unweighted first-day sales of 316,000 copies through the close of business yesterday. so... this wasn't a full day :) great numbers... It's a shame that in the ALL-WORLD album chart they will be number 2 this week and next week they will be number 1... if the album was realese in the same day all over the world so it sold a lot than a 1 million copies of LIL WAYNE but this week is without US sales... so LIL will be number 1... next week thou.

You may think I'm crazy, but to me "Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends" has a definite R&B/Hip-Hop feel to it. The influence of Kanye and Jay-Z on Chris cannot be denied. For instance, "Lost!" has a hip-hop swagger to it with it's steady beat and percussion lines. "Violet Hill" also has that big beat that you can't help but bob your head to, especially during the chorus. You all may hate the likes of Jay Z and Kanye West, but there's no denying that these guys have helped shaped this great album in some way. Maybe Chris and Co. have finally embraced their inner gangsta.

Tom Stroud talks to Chris Martin, Jonny Buckland and Guy Berryman from Coldplay as they release their fourth album "Viva La Vida." Is funny :D Also they say Lost! will eventually be a single http://www.alpha1032.com/features/99624.html http://tlrc.as34763.net/?service=al&video=http://meta.as34763.net/content/1120.asx

At least here in the US, every physical album copy I've seen in stores has a convenient big black sticker that covers the lady's exposed breasts on the front cover artwork (and some of the title text as well). The sticker is the one that like the album name and all of the singles. From images I've seen from other places, the sticker is smaller and in the corner of the album, so as not to block the title or much artwork. But, in the US, the placed the sticker right in the middle over her! I think it takes a bit away from the band's artistic choice of the album cover, and I'm a bit disappointed in whomever made the decision to do this. Is it like this in other places?

EMI has fit all the songs on one vinyl. Nowadays, most artists put their full length album on 2 discs, 4 sides. The reason for that is because the closer you get to the center of the record - the worse it sounds. So because this was a short record, they could "technically" fit it all on one disc... but it means that they would have to come close to the center of the disc. And therefore, "Reign of Love" and "The Escapist" sound horrible. Ideally, for quality reasons (not for economic reasons, ie. EMI) you would just limit each side to 3 songs, leaving at least 2-3 inchs from the center. I guess you could say im picky with vinyls.

I dunno if any of you heard the bands interview with zane lowe, but there was a really awkward moment where chris asked him how he knows that other people write girls alouds' songs, and then when zane said im pretty sure they do, chris said how do you know, i think id know better than you, suggesting maybe that he's trying to insinuate something? And then Chris also played a section of 'call the shots' intertwined with square one and trouble at the concert in brixton? I was just wonderin what your thoughts on this are

Sorry if someone has already posted this. When I picked up the album yesterday from HMV I was given a Coldplay poster with a code on the back that would allow me to win a trip to see the band in New York. But the guy never told me what website to enter my code. I never bothered to ask him because I thought it would be on HMV's site or Coldplay's. I can't find anything on either site. Any help???

On Coldplay.com, they changed the Barcelona section to a 'Widgets' section. There is a widget that you can put on your websites and there are also some REALLY nice wall papers link: http://www.coldplay.com/widgets.php one of the wallpapers has sheet music to postcards from far away... someone should try to play it! (sorry if there is a thread about this already!)

I heard some people wished they could change their selection of the best song off the album. So, since the leak has been out a while, what is your favorite song off the album whether it be the exact pick as the Updated thread I made or something different?

Chris was talking about them on XFM. It influenced one of their songs on VLV. I can't remember the name of the band. :freak: It was della-something. The song was called "The Rock" or something. It was like, "sat up for most of the night with a mirror and a flashlight..." Help me, please? :nice:

I don't know if you guys noticed this or not (I'm sure you have) but Will realllly outdoes himself in this album. I was extremely impressed at how he outdoes himself in every song. He really shown through as the top performer in my opinion....with Guy coming in really close second.

It is currently June 18th, and I just heard the album for the first time. I resisted the Myspace temptations, and even though I had the album yesterday, I put my priorities in order and studied for my final exam instead. Well, this is my opinion, if anyone cares... I think it was a good album that will take many listens to fully appreciate. it took me three or four times through X&Y before I realized its greatness. I think in a few days Ill really start to appreciate Viva La Vida (and I will always call it that cuz they said choose your own title and Im optimistic). I didn't like that the album seemed more like Coldplay trying to impress people (Radiohead, maybe?) …
