Does anyone else feel that on some songs the production is just way too strong? I love what Eno has done but I feel on a lot of songs that the band and him have so much going on musically that it gets a little overwhelming for me. I love the album, it is by far my favorite next to AROBTH, but I wish that would have toned down the production a little bit.

Just heard on my local radio station that from 4pm (till 7) this Sunday Chris 'and the boys' will be taking part in the weeks chartshow rundown, i.e. an interview with the band. It plays on pretty much all commercial radio stations in the UK, might be able to listen through their website but I'm not sure. http://www.hit40uk.com/ Unfortunatly I can't record this because I'll be at work, but I'm sure someone can. :) Yeah, just thought I'd give y'all a heads up :P EDIT: There is a listen again feature on their website, they might have a listen live one on sunday night ;)

have you noticed how much cemeteries of london sounds like house of the rising sun, Im not saying it's bad or anything, it's just I remember reading a interview with chris where he said that often when he hears a good song he subconciously tries to do something like it.... I think COL proves it.

Speaking to Billboard, Coldplay's manager Dave Holmes has hinted at the tour itinery for the band into 2009. Following the conclusion of the first North American leg, the group has international touring on tap through early October, after which it begins another round of North American dates. In 2009, Coldplay will play European stadiums and might even play such venues in North America next year "if we can do the business," manager Dave Holmes tells Billboard. VIVA La Vida flew off shop shelves and clocked up huge downloads after being released yesterday. COLDPLAY’s eagerly-anticipated fourth album looks certain to be the fastest-selling of the year when figures are announced this weekend. The collection should romp to No1 on Sunday with sales of around 200,000 — shattering DUFFY’s 2008 first-week record of 183,000. Woolworths reported copies were being snapped up at a rate of 20 every minute. HMV had placed their biggest ever pre-order. And web forums are flooded with posts raving about the album, the band’s most experimental yet. One said: “It’s their best album to date. Ten out of ten.” Relie…

Well I was in the bath right, listening to the radio and what do you know, they said they will be interviewing Coldplay next week and I was like OMG:D:D:D:D. So I decided to go and get the details for all you lovely people. However, they were originally supposed to be interviewing Usher :( and haven't updated their site. So when I do find more information I'll tell you but usually the show starts at about 5pm and goes to 6pm and the show is called "The Big K's Download Show" (on Fridays) I promise you I'll be back with more information. OMG so excited it'll be the first time my town's radio has ever heard a Coldplay interview :shocked2::shocked2::shocked2::shocked2::sh…

Hi, I started this thread partly out of curiosity and partly because I am faced with a conundrum. Should I buy Viva La Vida as a gatefold physical cd? Or should I keep my iTunes pre-order? I can´t really detect any difference in the sound quality as I don´t have speakers and will only be listening with earphones, so it is really a matter of which format I want. Will buying the physical cd, thus paying more for the album, support Coldplay more than downloading digitally or is it the same thing? I am really not sure about what to do. :\ How do you guys plan to get hold of Viva La Viva and where from?

As recent studies have shown, vinyl records are bucking the trend of the declining music industry by actually being profitable. EMI, a company embroiled by personnel issues and decreasing sales, are hoping the vinyl trend can help resurrect their profits when they release fifteen of the EMI catalog’s most popular albums on vinyl. A rep at Capitol/EMI confirmed that the label would reissue the fifteen albums on August 19th, with each release replicating the original artwork and packaging from when the album was first issued. Getting the vinyl treatment is the Beach Boys’ out-of-print Pet Sounds, every pre-In Rainbows Radiohead album, R.E.M.’s Document, Coldplay’s pre-Viva …

Hey guys. I'm heading to the Cayman Islands on Saturday and I was just wondering when VLV is going to be released there. It is a British Territory so I figured it could be out the 12th there; however, the rest of the world gets it the 16th (cept USA) so it might not be out until then...thats if it comes out on time there at all. Any speculations? Thanks.

don't know if this is threadworthy but anyway... VIVA LA VIDA - COLDPLAY 4.5 stars Coldplay's third album, 2005's X&Y, was a minor hiccup for a band that flirted with greatness with its first two records. When they reconvened after a lengthy hiatus for this follow-up, they decided to do something different. So they hired Brian Eno. They have ignored their detractors, delivering 10 beautifully recorded tracks. Their motive for working with Eno is transparent. Chris Martin's way with a tune coupled with Eno's gorgeous soundscapes are an imposing double act. Martin transposes his lyrics to their darkest, most ominous place yet. His defining falsetto is even coura…

Coldplay: 'Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends' After releasing an album in 2005 (X&Y) that didn't quite match the growth between its two predecessors, Coldplay took a new approach in the recording studio for its latest. Adventurous electronic producer Brian Eno was brought onboard, and the result is a stunning expansion of the British band's sonic landscape. Strings, bells, congas, churchlike organ, guitar passages that barely sound like guitar, a piano made to mimic a harpsichord, synthesizers - all of these sounds fade in and out of this CD's songs, many of which have multiple movements and changes in rhythm. Singer-pianist Chris Martin and his…

While not as impressive as their first two albums, 'Vida' takes a step in the right direction There are many words that might aptly describe Coldplay as they are known today, but not many will fit better than "polarizing." It isn't difficult to find people who absolutely adore the band's music, and have done so ever since their widely embraced debut album, Parachutes. Just take a look at all the arenas around the world the band manages to sell out. But it's just as easy to find those who cannot stand Coldplay's music, oftentimes described as depressing, insufferable and whiny. This is not lost on Coldplay. The band is well aware of the general public's perception…

Pompous, mawkish, and unbearably smug, Coldplay have conquered the charts with the sonic equivalent of wilted spinach, argues Andy Gill. And in the process, they've poisoned an entire generation of British rock music Without wanting for a moment to give the impression that it's anything other than a wonderful way to earn a living, there are times in a rock critic's life when the soul sighs, and one faces the blank screen with heavy heart and empty head. Last week was one such time. A new Coldplay album. When, all too frequently, people say how great it must be to earn one's corn writing about music, it's hard to disabuse them of that opinion. Of course it's g…
