I know that this is a bit vague but does anyone think Coldplay are fans of the tv show Lost. The reason I say this is they have a new song called Lost, but also one called 42. Which is one of the infamous numbers off the show. I know i'm sad but just wondered!

Chris Martin has rarely been out of the news this week. If he isn't walking out of interviews and fending off accusations of plagiarism, he's confessing to dreaming about Westlife and celebrating as Coldplay's fourth album goes platinum in just three days. And all this without a mention of famous wife Gwyneth Paltrow and their wackily-named offspring Apple and Moses. As he continues to make headlines at every turn, it's high time we found out more about rock's most clean-living star. 1. Chris formed first group The Rocking Honkies with school pal James at the tender age of 11. 2. At the time he met bandmate Jonny Buckland at University College London, Chris was thi…

Okay so there was some music playing throughout the whole interview, and I was wondering if it was Coldplay music or simply filler? Could it be the music from a song we haven't heard (postcards, prospekts march, etc)? The interview I'm refering to is available through a link on Coldplay's site.

SLEEPERCAR’S WARD WANTS COLDPLAY’S BERRYMAN TO BE A COUNTRY REBEL Sparta’s Jim Ward is currently finding success with the alt-country-ish Sleepercar, but did you know that the early plan for the band was to include Coldplay’s Guy Berryman? Ward says during the early stages of their careers, he and Berryman bonded over their love of this particular sound and had discussed forming a band called The London Country Rebels. Things really took off for Coldplay, limiting Berryman’s availability, but that hasn’t stopped Ward from trying to keep the idea fresh in the guitarist’s head. The singer tells us he tried to get Berryman to get a London Country Rebels tattoo so that the…

Sorry, seem to be a bit news-thread happy tonight... But I like this one. Coldplay turns up the heat with 'Viva la Vida' Band plays to an unexpected beat as it launches its North American tour in L.A. By Geoff Boucher, Los Angeles Times Staff Writer June 22, 2008 CHRIS MARTIN was on the floor working out the knots. As his handlers hovered, the usually affable Coldplay singer stretched out on the carpet in a dim and airless room backstage at the Jimmy Kimmel show. It was hours before show-time and the singer's muscles were tight and his expression sour. Finally, he looked up with pleading eyes. "Can we escape? Let's go somewhere el…

Andy Gill's review in The Independent. I completely agree with it I'm afraid, especially the final line and the bit about the incessant repetition. Coldplay: Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends 3 out of 5 Reviewed by Andy Gill Coldplay's X&Y, they've since explained, was the final part of a trilogy – a claim some might consider a cunning defence against accusations that they're a one-trick pony mining a stadium-filling formula to death. Whichever way one takes it, it leaves the globe-girdling anthem-mongers with quite a mountain to climb on Viva La Vida. Their Sherpa Tensing on this tough ascent is Brian Eno, sonic enabler to the stars, doubtless …

I seem to remember Coldplay saying they would reveal who Prospekt was when they released the new album. Well, I want to know who it is and why there's a march named after him. Anyone have any ideas?

Haha, as a non-musician, I'm dying in anticipation to hear what Postcards from Far Away sounds like.. I'm sure i'm not the only one. =) Is there any possibility that someone could play it out and record it? If you're not sure what I'm talking about, Coldplay just updated their site with a widget section (There's already a thread for that) and one of the wallpapers there has the notes for Postcards From Far Away..

Coldplay's latest album proves they are still very much hot stuff, writes Craig Mathieson. IN A MUSIC INDUSTRY suffering the death of a thousand (job) cuts, nothing matters more than the successful launch of a superstar act's new disc. But these days, with file-sharing and illegal downloading significantly cutting into CD sales, fewer artists than ever before can lay claim to the title. Greats from past generations merely remain wealthy on back catalogue sales while new pretenders to the throne generally make do with a profitable niche. Then there is Coldplay. The British quartet have sold a combined 30million copies of their three previous studio albums, creatin…

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but I think it would be cool if CP made a series of music videos for all the songs on VLV. I think it would work really well, as the songs seem like they could fit together.

For people who need more positive ones around here: http://music.ign.com/articles/883/883028p1.html Some excerpts: "they seem to have taken the fragile acoustic sounds of Parachutes, the edgier side of A Rush Of Blood To The Head, and the silky sounds of X & Y and cobbled together the best bits of each to expand upon for a more worldly direction for the band." "The vocals are perfect this time around, as Martin uses his falsetto sparingly and Brian Eno's smart production places him in the middle of the band, rather than well out in front of it." "The album's other 'rock in piano ballad wrapping' is "Death And All His Friends", which opens with perhaps the …

Hello there Coldplayers! Oh dear I always feel uncomfortable with making new threads, I hope I don't spam! :uhoh2: However, I thought I should get a new schoolbag, but because I'm such a lazy fool I went to my sewing- machine and just made an 'extra' pocket for my old bag. So here is the result, my schoolfriend (who is also a Coldplay fan) nearly exploded of enthusiasm :laugh3: (But I don't think it is that good, LOL). Say what you think, maybe I'll sew a little bit more, tehe..

I couldn't resist bringing up what Bill O'Reilly called Chris Martin on his "Patriot and Pinhead" segment on his show "The O'Reilly Factor" on Fox News. Part of me said "Don't even bother posting anything about this." I do not feel hatred really towards anyone, at least not permanently. I may hold feelings of great dislike, and in the heat of things, feel hatred, and Bill O'Reilly is no exception, but he is very close to hatred on the spectrum of liking in the slew of people I have opinions of. Well, in case you can't tell by my attitude, he called Chris a pinhead and not a patriot. I didn't watch it, but my brother (who for reasons not totally known to me, watches…

Now that there have been a few live (free) shows with similar setlists, do you think that this setlist is going to continue for their entire REAL tour? (starts with Life in Technicolor then goes to Violet Hill, etc). I know Coldplay has been saying that the tour will be a great production and well worth the money (ie with delaying the tour) but I am just confused/worried. It should be expected that Coldplay will feature the same setlist (just about) for the entire tour, and I am wondering if the setlist they have been playing is the ONE that they will play. Because honestly, it doesn't sound that great!

Hey fellow coldplaying-ers, I know I said I was going to upload these last night but I didn't get home til about 2 in the morning and I was shattered from being on trains and tubes ALL DAY :) Questions you might have, answered: YES: I did go to the bakery, I've got some pictures of me outside it, unfortunately when you go down to the bottom of the ally there is nothing else there just the front door, so the pictures are just from the top of the ally. YES: I did go to see chris' house, momentarily, It's VERY nice and the gates are security locked HOWEVER: I didn't take any pictures as to keep his privacy, I didn't wanna overdo it. I didn't even get any for…

It really sounds crazy. I totally didn't expect this song to go this far. When was the last time that a rock song topped the US chart? Maroon 5's Makes Me Wonder if it's counted as rock. This is really really incredibly amazing. A big congratulations to Coldplay!!! How will the album do? Will it sell more than 1m in the US as The Carter III did? Let's wait and see. Cheers everybody!:D Edit: I'm sorry the news is from here: Coldplay To Assume Control Of Billboard Hot 100 http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003817876

its just been announced on the main page that the band has reached the number one spot on the billboard charts after a long climb. We were pleased enough when Viva La Vida reached Number 2 in last week's Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. Now it's climbed to Number 1. Your reactions?
