I trust this site's reviews over everyone else's. Enjoy. Review by Stephen Thomas Erlewine When Coldplay sampled Kraftwerk on their third album, X&Y, it was a signifier for the British band, telegraphing their classicist good taste while signaling how they prefer the eternally hip to the truly adventurous; it was stylish window dressing for soft arena rock. Hiring Brian Eno to produce the bulk of their fourth album, Viva la Vida, is another matter entirely. Eno pushes them, not necessarily to experiment but rather to focus and refine, to not leave their comfort zone but to find some tremulous discomfort within it. In his hands, this most staid of bands looks…

Add your comment - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1026087/OPINION-Are-Coldplay-worst-thing-thats-happened-rock.html#addComment Do you remember that terrifying scene at the end of Invasion Of The Body Snatchers when the nice, sweet girl goes up to Donald Sutherland, thinking he's still a trustworthy human, and he lets out a terrible, blood- curdling shriek which proves that - oh horror! - he too has had his body invaded by the vile, plant-like aliens? Well, I think my wife went through a very similar experience in the car this week when I tried inflicting on her the new Coldplay album Viva La Vida. 'Oh come on. Don't be so prejudiced. It really…

Im having trouble understanding why this band has creates all this reverence i dont usually bother adding content to forums im not interested in but why are you so overwhelemed by such a dull band. Dont get me wrong i've had my cold play moments , V 2001(i think) they had less than 500 people in the crowd and yellow was superb outshining other band on at the same time. Please spend your time and valued money searching out less tired and more exiting music and forget the hype. Cold play maybe great for when your cat,dog or nan dies but its lowbrow and selfindulgent. And he called his child APPLE !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. Apparently Shoppers Drug Mart has no clue about CD release dates or any of the laws forbidding places from selling before the release. Woodbine and O'Connor's wonderful 24 hour Shoppers Drug Mart here in Toronto is already selling it as of June 13th :) But not the gatefold sadly. Making it a great run for Red Bull and other fun household items. But I'm still grabbing the gatefold; it looks so much nicer lol This copy will be given to my dad for Father's Day. If anyone is interested the Sunrise Records near the Eaton Centre will have the Coldplayers a very good Toronto based cover band playing June 17th at 11 am. Making it a GREAT Viva La Vida release Day.

Its just a brief paragraph taken from Travis blog. ---------------------- So has everyone bought or illegally downloaded the Coldplay album? I have listened to mine once all the way through. My favourite song so far is Lost but I want to hear lyrics on Life In Technicolour. The melody on the last track is stuck in my head and won't go away and Cemeteries of London is lodging n there too. Well done Coldplay. Viva la Vida and all that... ----------------------- and here it is the full entry if you want to read it http://travisonline.com/band/?id=187&p=1

  19. From Telegraph Today: Coldplay singer Chris Martin has confessed that he is still struggling to come to terms with the fact his wife Gwyneth Paltrow was briefly engaged to Hollywood heart-throb Brad Pitt. Martin admits that Pitt's reputation as one of the most desired male celebrities has left him feeling insecure, and even drives him to make a success of his life. "You've got to be hungry," Chris told US rock magazine Rolling Stone in an interview. "If your wife went out with Brad Pitt, you'd want to prove yourself, you know what I mean?" Martin insists his wife is the only woman he has ever had a serious relationship with. The couple, who married in 2003, h…

  20. So I found this rather odd, seeing as the album isn't even out over here, and I figured I'd post it... I was getting bored with my ringtone (Verizon, by the way), so I went and looked at the choices, and I discovered that they already have the entire album in ringtone form! Not the weird electronic ones, but the true tones or whatever they call them. So if anyone with Verizon wants the ringtone that Chris keeps saying Life in Technicolor is designed for, go ahead! I personally thought the 42 one was pretty cool.

COLDPLAY are on course to land the fastest-selling album of the year and save the ailing music industry. Viva La Vida Or Death And His Friends shifted more than 126,000 copies in a single day. Singer Chris Martin, 31, bassist Guy Berryman, 30, guitarist Jonny Buckland, 30, and drummer Will Champion, 29, have gone for a bold new direction and – like all you record buyers – I love the results. Gennaro Castaldo of HMV said: “This rate of sales exceeds our most optimistic forecasts, and shows how massively popular Coldplay remain, even though they’ve been away for the best part of three years.” The UK band’s fourth studio album is destined for the No 1 spot, desp…

  24. Coldplay: 'Viva La Vida' Released on Thursday, June 12 2008 By Alex Fletcher, Entertainment Reporter Coldplay: 'Viva La Vida' It's been a while since being a Coldplay fan was considered "cool". Chris Martin admitted as much earlier this year, telling the world he wanted the band's fourth album to make it "OK for a 16-year-old to say they like Coldplay in the playground". What is it about the band that provokes sneers from school bullies and music critics alike? Inverted snobbery prompted by their university educations? Chris's all-too-perfect marriage to Gwynnie? Or could it be their openness about wanting to be The Next U2? To be honest, it's probably a sum …

  25. The band's official leap toward greatness? June 14, 2008 Coldplay "Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends" Capitol *** (three stars) Have you ever picked up a self-help book from the display table in a big-box bookstore and opened it to find a phrase that exactly applied to your life? The most pedestrian insight can sometimes hit surprisingly hard. Banality might not elevate the intellect, but it helps in a tired, over-wired culture. We're all so distracted that we need to be reminded of the obvious, again and again. This helps explain the popularity of Coldplay, a group that disgusts sophisticates, although (or because) 10 million or so people seem to p…
