The World Of Music

I'm looking for new bands to discover and I'm having a huge amount of trouble. I'm a soft rock and rock n' roll fan, but today there are so many horrible bands out there today that I can't differentiate with the good and the crappy. It would be greatly appreciated if you could help. I love stuff like: Coldplay (obviously :cool:) U2 Red Hot Chili Peppers The Kooks The Who Lynyrd Skynyrd Eagles Sam Roberts Snow Patrol etc. I despise anything punk, emo, heavy metal and goth. They're just depressing "genres" of rock that doesn't make you feel happy at all. You know what I mean, right? Thanks for your help. :)

About 3 hours ago a freind notified me to remind me that it was 11 years ago, that the whole world lost one of the greatest showmen that music had ever produced!!! I wish this freind had notified me ealier in the day then I would have posted this way before now!!!!:o:o:o I cannot beleive that it was 11 years ago when Michael Hutchence died!!!!! He was totally awesome, profoundly unique and one of the most ultimate enigmatic rock artists of our lifetime!! He will be sorely missed!!!:cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry: R. I. P. MICHAEL!! I hope that you are still enjoying The Strangest Party!!!!!

This thread is dedicated for those who love shoegaze music. What is shoegaze? Well it was the underground movement in Britian during the early 90's and the transitionary period from Madchester to Britpop. The loud noisepop of Jesus and Mary Chain's Psychocandy mixed with the dreampop of Cocteau Twins with a dash of The Cure's Disintegration. Basically beautiful waves of noise. Britian's version of Grunge you could say. You'll hear the sound reflected in artists works from Coldplay's Chinese Sleep Chant to Radiohead's Blow Out, to half of Smashing Pumpkin's Siamese Dream. this scottish band seemed to have faded away over the past few years but they had some excellent songs! their greatest hits album has turned into a driving cd for me... anyone else think they were good? summer son was my favourite :smug:
