Any fans of the great guitar god? The one to show the world how a guitar is supposed to be played, the one of made All Along the Watchtower a household song name, the one who lit his guitar on fire on stage and urged the flames to rise higher and higher. The greatest ever! Jimi!!

As this forum is called The World Of Music! If you like bagpipe music or just something a bit different I definitely recommend their Spirit Of The Glen, Parallel Tracks and latest Spirit Of The Glen: Journey albums. The new one was recorded in Basra, Iraq which is quite incredible considering the temperatures over there and of course the constant dangers. Excellent stuff!

Ladies and Gentlemen, the time has again come to have a good long look at the music world around us and ask "What albums did we like this year?". The Deal: Make a list of 5 to 25 original albums released in 2008. Rank determines the points an album gets. The Deadline: Wednesday, December 17th at 4:00pm EST (9:00pm GMT) A note: EPs, split 2007/2008 releases that made the 2007 list, reissues, and live albums do not count. So no In Rainbows, Prospekts March, or Haarp, but Oracular Spectacular is fine since the digital release was not voted for last year. Just wanted to let everyone know that tonight and tomorrow the radio station KROQ is putting on their annual Almost Acoustic Christmas. For those of you who are interested, they stream a live webcast of the performance. Just go to: http://www.kroq.com They have a place where you can test out the media player to make sure that you are up to speed. You don't want to be scrambling when an artist you like is up.

What do you think of their new album, "A Hundred Million Suns"? I’ve always liked the band and have found this album to be their best yet. The song “Crack the Shutters” is my favorite on the album and has a really cool video: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=942tk_Y1bUE]YouTube - Snow Patrol - Crack The Shutters[/ame] . Its definitely worth checking out if you haven’t seen it (or even if you have). Also the band currently has a contest going on in which they are giving away a free macbook and Snow Patrol prize pack. For more details watch this short video (and click more info on the upper left side): [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QU7OpwPf2Mo]YouTube - Snow …

I need to interview a musician who is in that career specifically. Any kind of music. Don't care. It doesn't matter that you're incredibly obscure, that would be ideal.

earlier on the nominations for the 51st annual grammy awards were announced. personally im not a big fan of award nights but being the music nerd i am i cant help but pay a bit of attention to the grammys. the most successful artist was Lil Wayne who picked up 8 followed by coldplay with 7 then three rap artist kanye west, jay-z and ne-yo. Radiohead deservedly picked up 5 noms alongside former led zep frontman robert plant in his interesting yet brilliant duet with country star Alison krauss. on the other hand metallica got three nominations. here are some of the categories i feel deserve some attention Record of the year- this is for the best song taking into cons…

They don't get a lot of mention here (if at all), so I thought I'd create a thread! Any fans? I've just recently started getting into the albums pre-Grave Dancer's Union, and I must say, they sound really good too. Their 80s material is just as good as the 90s material, IMO. Favorite albums: Hang Time, And The Horse They Rode In On, Grave Dancer's Union, Candy From A Stranger

Albums so far: Hey Rosetta! (see below) City and Colour Tokyo Police Club Who: Hey Rosetta! Album: Into Your Lungs (and around in your heart and on through your blood) Why: This album is something fresh and different. Incorporating a multitude of instruments like the violin and cello fused together with alternative rock songs to create a sonic explosion that makes you want to sing, dance, and cry at the same time. Each note and word is sung with passion and beauty. Oh it also helps that they're from Newfoundland. Where: The full album is streaming on their website http://www.heyrosetta.com Songs to check out: I've Been Asleep for a Long …

Hopefully its not a crime to mention the trio but I was reading about christmas tunes by famous artists and heard about this song "A Heart To Hold You" which BBC claimed was the Christmas song of 2005 or something... just wondering if anyone knows if it's been leaked/has it? i'd love to include it on my christmas mix cd this year.

I am not sure how many of you were fans back in the day of 90's band Third Eye Blind, but I found a pleasant surprise when I was checking out myspace today. These guys are still making some music. I just checked out the new music last night, but I like their three news songs quite a bit. Red Star is classic 90's rock, Why Can't You Be is a nice ballad, and Non-Dairy Creamer is catchy, but maybe a bit too weird for me. http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=31326302&MyToken=572b968d-0a96-4265-b556-5e982d2dff20
