June 28, 201015 yr Jo and I have uploaded a lot too Facebook and since it was still light outside (it only gets dark in Finland after midnight during this time of the year), most of my pictures turned out pretty nicely. I'm sure Jo will have a review up soon, I'm going to bed now since tomorrow morning I'm flying back to the Netherlands. :(
June 28, 201015 yr I want the album too, the new songs sounded pretty great live. I really liked Rococo.
June 28, 201015 yr That must be so surreal going to a show and having it light out the entire time, especially at that time of night!

June 30, 201015 yr Nice review and great stories. Arcade Fire are one band that I would like to finally see live. That's amazing that you met them. Nice setlist.
June 30, 201015 yr My chances of seeing them in Quebec City were about 20% this morning. I would say they aer 95% now.
June 30, 201015 yr Arcade Fire play to thousands in the suburbs Arcade Fire multi-instrumentalist Richard Reed Parry called triple j ahead of the release of their album The Suburbs on August 2nd. He told The Doctor that they've been treating Canadian fans to some pre-launch shows in suburban venues around Montreal, Quebec and Toronto. They were meant to be low-key gigs but, as the band hasn't played live for a long time, they ended up drawing bigger than expected crowds. Especially one show outside Montreal. "The one in the car park, we planned it to be secretive and it turned out very non secretive cause it got in to a bunch of the local newspapers and local radio stations the day of. So what we thought would be maybe eight hundred people turned in to somewhere between seven and ten thousand before the end of the night. It was just a little bit crazy. A whole lot of people in the car park of a mall beside a highway." Those few thousand fans were given a preview of the band's third album. Reed Parry reported that they had lots of fun in the studio working on the sixteen songs that made the final track listing. "We really tried tons of different stuff. Lots of guitar and piano and treated piano and synthesizers. I played the double bass also. And singing and clapping and different percussion things. We have a church that we turned in to a studio that's outside of Montreal that we recorded our last record in and a good chunk of this record also. There's a couple of pianos and harpsichord and lots of different guitars and lots of different drums and stuff." Arcade Fire have already released three songs from the new album, including the straight-up rock number 'Month Of May'. That shift in sound was a bit of a surprise for fans, but Reed Parry said that song isn't indicative of the overall sound of the LP. "That one's just two drummers, two guitarists, bass and then a little bit of synthesizer and a lot of background hollering and off-key singing by me and Will. It doesn't sound like anything else on the record but it fits on the record. But not in an immediately obvious way, nothing else on the record sounds like that, there's no straight-up down-strokes punk rock." And will Arcade Fire make their way back to Australia to tour the new album? "There's a good chance when it's Australian summer and Montreal winter 'cause we did that before and it worked out really well for everyone." http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/musicnews/s2940734.htm

June 30, 201015 yr Heyy I just got a text from Anna, she already met Win! :awesome: before the concert, I hope she doesn't mind me telling though.. I'll keep you updated if I hear anything more! *excited* Awesome! I don't think I'll be able to meet them since both shows will be at festivals. :( But you never know. Festivals are fun to scan the crowd for artists watching other artists.
June 30, 201015 yr Yep, also, this being a Coldplay forum....the girl in front of her has a Viva bag :P (very interesting, I know, I'm just very excited for her) Haha awesome. I'm watching the Mirroir Noir dvd right now. I think it may be my favourite music related dvd ever. It capture the band's emotion perfectly.
