Let me describe my trip to Barnes and Noble today and why I am disappointed with them:

As I walk towards the store, there is Adele, staring at me through the window. I then go inside; there she is again, giving me that blank stare.

So I walk to the middle of the store towards the special table of vinyls labeled "New Releases." I think, "There must be an AHFOD vinyl in here somewhere!" Nope!

So, I turn around to walk to the music section. As I turn, I see there are 10 Adeles staring at me from a special display stand.

I enter the music section and there is a huge rack of CDs in front of me labeled "new!" and "perfect gifts for the holidays!" and "great finds!" Is there one AHFOD CD on that rack? No!

I then walk to the back side of that rack only to find 2 AHFOD CDs in the corner. Really B&N?

Maybe there will be a vinyl in the vinyl section. Nope! Okay, well maybe there will be more AHFOD CDs with the other Coldplay ones. Nope!

Why is there no publicity for this album??

I imagine Adele using all her time off to walk into record stores incognito, rearranging window displays and CD racks, putting her album front and centre while hiding AHFOD. :D (Nah, she's lovely of course.)

 

Oh dear, I keep thinking that I have a dark, dark Coldplay secret. I hate Fix You. Yes, I'm ashamed myself.

Oh I totally get your rant! hehe Im gonna have to look again at my local Barnes to see how the situation is there. I know that on the day of release they only had four vinyls of the album (dunno about the CDs), but then a few days ago I noticed finally their vinyl homepage had a big Coldplay ad on the front, so I hope it starts appearing in the stores soon. It would be odd if it didn't. Maybe they are just slow with stuff? hehe

With that said though, Coldplay's sales have been consistently diving since Viva (Wonder why? :rolleyes:)

 

Viva sold much more, but it was also another time for the music industry I think. However AHFOD is selling better than both MX and GS, according to the Atlas tweets:

 

"Coldplay's #AHFOD has now sold more UK copies than Ghost Stories or Mylo Xyloto did in their 1st week of sale"

I had a "Coldplay" sticker lying around a few years ago so I stuck it to a local landmark and it's still there all these years later (albeit faded from the rain)

An update on something I posted here a few months back...

I'm listening to my Spotify playlist, and Life in Technicolor (from the album) just came on. It is now truly LiT and not LiTii in disguise!!

Yesterday I finally taught myself how to play the Clocks motif on piano !!! :D

Musically inept as I am, I was so proud of having learned the Clocks motif that I repeated it over and over ! Today I am practising the Talk motif, which is much shorter of course.

I don't know. My family has a vast musical background and as such I am able to play different instruments :D I've came up with many parts of songs on piano now.

Don't be, you're not the only one. I really disliked Fix You too when we were in the X&Y era... However this song is now nolstalgic for me, particularly when I hear all the crowd singing at concerts - it is so beautiful and moving, rousing even...

I just learned how to play Up&Up! It feels great to play a song I love :) Although, I need to loop the piano part to do the guitar solo (because I don't have four hands) :D

Oh thats a lot of fun! I used to do that back during Viva (that was the last time I had a lot of free time LOL). I did play some of MX songs but mostly just on my acoustic guitar. Those guitar solos from Up&Up are bound to be fun! Whats your gear if I may ask? :)
