Well, my 19 year old daughter is way alternative, so I can deal with that, too...and there is still plenty of time to work on my 10 year old. She's the baby. Social acceptance and mainstream is huge in 5th grade, so I'm cutting her some slack for now. I'm really 3 for 4. (And I'm letting my 16 year old's Broadway show tunes slide because that is his passion).

... I would trade all of those for Will, Jonny, Chris and Guy, easily. lol

 

No one seems interesting to me after becoming acquainted with Coldplay. Depeche Mode would interest me, but the lower sections are all sold out and I can't go back to the nosebleed bleachers after sitting right behind the pit at the Coldplay concert. Coldplay has ruined me for all other bands and the Wheatland concert ruined me for all other venues because of the great seats we had.

Well, thanks to living in a City for so many years, I have a partial hearing loss in my right ear. The blare of a pickup truck's horn hit my ear a certain way and knocked my hearing out in the right side, leaving it ringing. After about a week, my hearing partially returned, but I lost sensitivity to the higher frequencies and never regained it fully. I now have tinitus in that ear, hearing a high-pitched ocean-like noise. That is why I always err on the cautious side and prefer to wear ear plugs when exposed to high volumes. I could actually hear Coldplay better with the ear plugs in because they reduce it to a comfortable level, and I could hear them perfectly clearly. Without the ear plugs, I was afraid for my hearing and it hurt my ears to listen to the opening acts. Thank God the venue staff had extra packages of ear plugs.

Oh, we're not blaming livenation for cancelling the show, but for the email they sent out asking for us to review the show, when they're also the ones who sent out the email telling it was postponed in the first place! If they can target Coldplay ticketbuyers for updates and announcements, then they can adjust their program to not ask how it was.

 

LiveNation's mailing of the survey on the Tampa concert is an example of the automation of our society: computers spitting out e-mails on a schedule, with no one remembering to cancel the mass mailing because the concert never happened! It really is funny now that I think of it again, and I can understand why it angers so many people!

 

One can only hope that computers one day will not be pre-programmed as to when to "pull the plug" on our life support system, under some pre-determined timetable with no one around to check our current status! :surprised:

San Francisco is a cool place to live. I miss the Bay Area, but I love living in Orange County, too. We saw many many concerts at Shoreline, I remember when it was built and that whole area of Mountain View was all brand new.

 

We went to the beach in San Clemente today and it's just beautiful. Of course, right now, I'd much rather be in Denmark...Or anywhere the boys are. I don't think I'll get over it until the announcement is made.

I don't know why they just won't announce that the show is canceled so people can get their money back. I don't know about the Florida venue, but the amphitheater here in Houston is a seasonal venue and doesn't book shows outside the season (ie: November-April). I would guess that the Ford holds around 25-30,000 people at an average ticket price of $90 that's 2.7 Million bucks that Live Nation has of our money that they are just drawing interest on before they have to give it all back. If the band does come back for this show, seams like they would have to use a different venue, so give people back their money.

 

And don't even get me started on Ticketbastard UK who has been holding everyone's money for Wembley and refusing to give out tickets.....for a whole fucking year! :angry:

Maybe you heard when you lived here about the time they had minor explosions at Shoreline? The whole place was built on top of trash hauled from San Francisco and dumped there as landfill. Mountain View earned enough money from San Francisco dump fees, which were matched with federal grants, to build the park. The place is literally a dump disguised as an amphitheatre. During one of the earliest concerts, someone dropped a cigarette and it ignited methane gas that was leaking through the ground from the decaying garbage underneath, causing a series of gas explosions throughout the amphitheatre! Shoreline had to subsequently dig up the grass on the lawn and install a cement cap over the whole lawn area and put in air ducts to divert the gas safely out of the amphitheatre.

 

It has the advantage that the seats are covered in case of rain, which is not the case at the Sleep Train in Wheatland, although since that area is a virtual desert, there is almost no chance of rain during the summer season.

We have standing tickets for Wembley but the UK policy of not handing out tickets until a few days before the show is just a giant steaming pile of bullshit! I paid for the 4 fucking thing and it is mine. Now gimmie! :angry: I fly nonstop to London from Houston.

It was just a huge deal for me to get to Tampa in the first place - with a husband and 4 kids, that is just not something I *do*, to fly across the country to see a band, and meet up with people I met online, yk? The sting of disappointment is still pretty strong. But to keep us all hanging, it would be a good thing to know one way or the other for closure.

Tampa weather is much much nicer on November. It's not colder than 70F and no afternoon t-storm. :cool:

I don't see a reason why amphitheaters would not schedule shows on winter time. Florida weather is actually better on winter than in summer.

I'm thinking the boys might add a few shows in the US, maybe NY, that is the only way they could afford to come this way. :\ If they do that, they should keep Tampa as their last show.

I may be wrong but I'm almost positive that the Amphitheatre here does shows all year round. In fact I remember them doing a show in February for the Superbowl. Personally at this point I don't really care if they do cancel or re-schedule though I would prefer them reschedule because I was going with a cousin of mine who's a huge fan and has never seen them and after going through a really hard time with his family this past year he was really looking forward to this as a good distraction.

 

Anyway, if the can come back in November then that would be great. I think more than anything I'm just annoyed that this is the second time a Tampa concert has had to be re-scheduled. With Tampa being such a huge market I don't see why they had the Tampa show so late to begin with.

I totally understand you. For me was a big deal too. My husband was not too happy with me driving 4:30 hours by myself to go to the same concert I already attended twice. We had a big big fight the night before the concert. I also had to make arrangements for someone to take care of my son. Plus I bother my friend to get me employee discount at the Tampa Sheraton (I save this option for special occasions only) :(

I wish they could have let us know before. Chris was not looking good in Charlotte, that was two nights before!!!!

hmm...i would hope they did not do that for the sake of seeing U2. i think Coldplay had every intention on closing out the USA tour in Tampa. They still would have had time to fly back and catch the show even if the Tampa show went on as scheduled...
