Hello Fran! Thanks again for a great mixtape, I've got it playing again now :D

I don't mind the stalking at all, unless you start turning up outside my bedroom at night then you've gotten a bit carried away…… Haha. I'm glad you like my blog, it's just me saying what's on my mind from that week.

With the instrumentals I took a glance while writing and just got them mixed up when typing, no big deal anyway. Well I know it's not Bjork who sings with Tom Jones anyway.

This mixtape has finally convinced me to buy Arcade Fire albums, has taught me that I am so out of touch with new music this year and reminded me how great this exchange is! :D

Yeah I'm going to park my car by your window in the middle of the night and then blast that Scooby Doo sample

Just kidding, I'd never do that ;)

Yeah these exchanges are really awesome!

Fantastic, just give me a second while I get a lawyer to make up a restraining order haha.

They really are, I'm glad I'm back visiting the site again, already looking forward to the next exchange!

Do you? :P

We love you Fran! We really really love you! *lifts Fran on shoulders and runs around notre dame football stadium*

Sorry!! :bigcry: I should have posted this yesterday but university was being a bitch so I hadn't time and felt like crap and couldn't concentrate on the mixtape and I'll stop rambling now :wacky:

Hi, I am your mixtape maker and I blatantly understand. I am in the same position with uni nom'ing life so s'cool. I haven't written mine yet

OKAY so, here's my review:

My mixtape maker has made a folder named „Tree Burst in Snow“ with all the tracks in it :cheesy: And even put a folder picture in it woo! Which is totally cool and fitting since I'm kinda freezing my ass of right now cuz it's rather cold in Germany.

Aw, glad you like. I was going to name each song but I couldn't think of enough snow/weather/cold things  Ironically the idea of this theme was the fact despite the cold weather and the seasons changing there's still bright bursts of life and warmth in terms of music.

This is because a lot of this mixtape is brand new, or if not, sort of released this time last year?

Anyways, first track, here we go!

TRACK 01

Wow I already like the first seconds of this song. Strings and guitar and soft male voice singing. Very dreamy and light. Then a little choir and there's an instrument going „bem bem bem bem“ in the background which I can't identify, but it's cute. AND OMG A CLARINET, there's a fookin clarinet playing and this song feels like a fairytale! Fantastic! And now drums are coming in and add some more power to the song. I love the singer's voice, it's so soothing...

Man the clarinet really makes this song so heartwarming together with the strings, this song totally fits to the winter :wacky:

This is Admiral Fallow with 'Burn'. It's the concluder of their album but I thought it might ease you in to the mixtape despite it being a completely different style/genre to the rest of the tape. Glad you like it, it's my favourite off the album

TRACK 02

Funky drums! And electronic beats! Nice genre change! Dreamy disorted male voice accompanying the strong beat. And wooooaaah some very strange but cool echo effecs. And holy shit THAT BASS :drunk: Sounds bloody ace with sony headphones mdr xb700 on your head :wideeyed: This song is catchy and powerful, and inbetween has little breaks with only this wicked bass playing.

Towards the end some crazy spacey synthesizer sounds start playing and my mind begins to wander.

THIS IS FREAKING GREAT!

Yes! I am glad you are so taken with it-- you would definitely like the rest of the album. It's Egyptian Hip Hop- 'SYH'. The entire album is kind of this drifting, surreal thing that takes you a few listens to get your mind around, but once you do it is so awesome. This song is probably the only one that works out of context actually!

TRACK 03

Drums, crazy drums! And a male voice going „Aaaaaaaah, aaaaahaaaaaaaaa“ in a rather trance-y way. Holy crap and now some crazy ass noises are playing, something that sounds like a metal hinge opening and closing, and something else sounding like a transformator exploding  Oh man this is amazing, it sounds like you're standing in a scrapyard and make music with the electronical stuff laying around. And all these noises are intensified by a strong bass playing in the background. The singer's voice also has some crazy effects on it, and everything ficts perfectly together. If I had to explaing this song with one word, I'd say it's „sharp“

You've described this in a way I could only imagine to-- you're right-- that's exactly what it sounds like. This is Hooray for Earth who tend to polarise their audiences because live this is even louder and all over the place (which personally I find fantastic). The album runs along a similar vein, lots of synths/electronics/some guitar and bass and there's the odd dream-landscape thrown in there for good measure.

TRACK 04

Dreamy guitar  And a strong male voice for a change lol (not that this is a bad thing really!)

Nice beat going on, very happy and bright. First I thought this song is a little bit boring because it's rather repetitive, but towards the end it goes all dreamy and doesn't sound as carefree anymore but melancholy and more atmospheric and it's all brilliant and sweet

This was one of the ones I was unsure about but it was a toss up between these guys and CITIZENS! And you ended up getting Theme Park. This track is Jamaica.

TRACK 05

Interesting calm beeping noise, and after 15 seconds SHAZAM strong beat and singing in yo face. Fascinating echo-ish and delaying effetcs on the singer's voice. And there are rattles! And crazy sounds again, maybe guitars? Lol I dunno :awesome: But this song is strong and quite motivating, I want to jump around!

Well I am glad there is a beat because this is by a band called Beat Connection (Palace Garden, 4am). It's the best off the album by far. It's one of those tracks where they threw everything at it and it works,

TRACK 06

Starts with a strong bass drum. Gets a little bit repetitive after a while, but changes just like track 04 into something epic and builds itself up towards the end of the song, I like songs like this a lot!

This was another I wasn't sure about but I felt a few dodgey tracks can't be avoided. Glad though that you like this-- it's Jonquil 'Point of Go pt. 2'. I'd suggest given what you have said so far, you would like the album a lot actually. This is one of the slower tracks-- It's My Part will definitely be up your street.

TRACK 07

Mix spheric ambient sounds, a strong beat, dreamy singing voices and cool guitars together and you get this gem. I close my eyes and my heads bobs forward involuntarily everytime one of the main drums is hit. The song gets more wild towards the end and it's all magnificent.

Ah man, am I happy to hear that. These are one of my favourite bands on the circuit at the moment. It's Zulu Winter with Small Pieces; and I will bet money on it that you will love the album, it's just more of these awesome gems.

TRACK 08

I know this song :awesome: It's Wolf Gang's Stay And Defend and it fits perfectly into this mix! And I really like this song so I totally don't mind listening to it for the 349050 time.

I'm sure I would've given myself away with this one... Seen as I am the Wolf Gang stan on this forum. I would say something more constructive, but I'd just end up gushing because Max is a babe.

TRACK 09 already OMG

Guitars, „oooooOOOoooh“'s, and a voice that I believe have heared before but I don't know where! D:

Powerful song! With a great chorus and a sound in the background that's often used in old movies when they're showing UFOs  Do you even know what I mean? :laugh3:

Anyway, this song is very nice, and has little quiet breaks and awesome loud parts.

You may have done, but at the same time I think his voice is similar to quite a few artists around at the moment. Hot off the press is 'Teenage Daughter' by Dog is Dead. Y'know, I didn't even notice the U.F.O until you said it and now I can't unhear!

TRACK 10

Same here, I know this voice!! But who is it, ugh! Loud and strong song again, with groovy electric guitars and a singer going crazy in the chorus „AAAAAHH- OH OH OH OHH“ LOL this is funny

Little Comets and this is my favourite track by them ever. Love it.

TRACK 11 (Last track nooooo! :bigcry:)

The song starts with rather creepy but also cool „ooouuuooouuuooouuhhh“s and little vinyl crackle sounds

Okay, the singer is actually starting with „Don't fuck with me don't fuck with me“ Alright dude, I won't, promised

And JEEZ that is some epic bass/electric beat right there, this is a combination I LOVE. Soft and fragile singing voices, and a bass that makes your brain melt :drunk: Duuuuuuude what the hell is going on in this song, I feel like I'm getting high from listening to this! AWESOME. My head totally bobs lazily throughout the whole song, and I can't stop it. There are even trumpets in it.

I love this, this is going straight into my playlist!

I figured this, out of them all, would be the one most up your street. I should've bet on it or something (somehow). It's BTSTU by Jai Paul-- and he has a few tracks floating around; although he seemed to disappear when writing an album which is a shame. :\

And.... and now it's all over :bigcry:

But holy shit mixtape maker, reveal yourself! I want to know who secretly scanned my brain and picked out only songs I like!! This is the best mixtape I got so far, and so many cool songs on it! :wacky::bomb: I MUST KNOW THE ARTISTS!!

Okay so, you're awesome, you know that? Like, awesomely awesome, in an awesome way, you know? 20000 INTERNET HUGS FOR YA! :dazzled:

Aw thank you! I am really glad you enjoyed it. At first when I saw your post about your music taste I panicked and was like I WON'T BE ABLE TO DO THIS... But I'm glad it worked out. It was a pleasure making it for you :)

Wow, can't wait to listen to all these :')

To my mixtape maker: you've had a bit of a wait, I was one of the first to receive it. There is just a lot to say about it.

I promise to have the review in within the next few days.

I shall post my review tomorrow, partner!

OK, now is when I start getting a tad impatient and wondering who on Earth made my mixtape. Why I can't I be content with waiting like everyone else? UGH SO HARD. :bigcry:

Hi my 'awesome' partner, I'll review it sometime around Monday next week as I have been studying for an important exam. Totally diggin' the songs though :3

Finally after downloading the whole thing (internet is super slow) I'm putting in my review!

Intro: Ooh, opera type! It sounds great and has a great way of crescendos, decrescendos and going right into track one.

1. Okay, first of all, whoever is singing sounds like someone from Apparatjik. But that aside, I like the lyricism of the song and the guitar.

2. The gentle voice of the singer makes this song very comforting in the beginning. I like the whole echo thing, it adds another dimension to the song! OUTSIDE! OUTSIDE! OUTSIDE! (one place i need to go...) I'm guessing it's about a relationship with problems... But that's just me.

3. Wait, this is a copy of track two...

4. "Temptations forever" The constant drumbeat just makes you wait in suspense of when the song really does start... Then you hear the atmospheric noise and the drums return after. After the intro, a very angelic voice comes in, adding to the atmosphere noise. "over and out" This song does have a spacey theme to it, doesn't it? The use of a female echo just makes it just... indescribably great.

I'd download this.

5 and 6 won't open.... Because 7Zip says that the files are broken... >.<

Overall, I give it a 7.5/10

(So that's really good!)

Uhh what? Seven tracks and three of them are repeats/not playable? Hmm. Hope these are all really long tracks. Not my place to complain but this is a bit strange.
