April 29, 201412 yr Ok so, after today's interview we could realize Chris and maybe the boys still have not went through X&Y. Chris thinks they were losing their touch so I thought we could show them how this record is, as much as the others, important to us, by taking a little message from each one of you wanting to participate telling why you love X&Y. How is it gonna work: under this post, you can write your first name, country, and a message (not bigger than 2 or 3 lines) telling how special X&Y is to you, maybe why, songs you like, what they make you feel, well, you know, general appreciation. At a deadline date (still to be defined taking in count how the flow of messages will go) I'll copy all of your messages and send it as a file to MAKE A VIDEO, post it on Youtube, and send it to Debs (aka Oracle) asking her if she'd possibly show it to the boys. I'm very opened to suggestions if someone finds a better way to reach them. Well, that's it, hope you like it and join it. Let's show some X&Y love :smug: Messages deadline date: It's over already [NEW!!]I have added a poll for you guys to chose which X&Y song you'd like to be used as the video background. Try to chose the song that defines X&Y for you, not just Fix You, OK? (although you can chose it if you want). [NEW 2!!]Ok guys. We're done with the messages. Thanks everyone who participated. Now give me some time to develop the video with your messages (I'm having a ton of tests at university, be patient) and I'll tell you when everything's ready.
April 29, 201412 yr Chris Canada X&Y was the first Coldplay album I listened to as a whole. I had no clue about Coldplay, mostly cause I was like 8, but I listened to it straight, in the car, for the entire trip and I was in love from the start. Every song brings something to the table. Square One, Low, Fix You, White Shadows, Twisted Logic, and all the rest... amazing album. Yeah, some people think its blotted. But if I was asked to take a single song out of the album, I couldn't do it. I love them all.
April 29, 201412 yr Lucas Spain/USA "FREAKING COLDPLAY IS AWESOME!!!" - those are the words that go through my head when I listen to X&Y. This was one of the albums that inspired me to be a musician. I love it and always will. Fix You will also always be my favorite song. There are no words that can describe the feelings I get inside when I listen to X&Y. Thank you, Coldplay, Chris, Jonny, Guy, Will, Phill and all the people who worked on this album, for making a truly fantastic piece of art.
April 29, 201412 yr Dylan, USA, I absolutely adore the balance between the rock-influenced songs and the more somber songs. :) side note: awesome idea! EDIT: oh, it appears I took the "two or three lines" thing a bit more literally than you others, haha
April 29, 201412 yr Steven United States Talk was the first song I have ever heard from Coldplay and because of X&Y I was able to listen and keep up with an Amazing Band and it's great community.
April 29, 201412 yr Adam United States X&Y was my first Coldplay album I listened to, mainly because of fix me. I first heard this song shortly after I got rejected and friend zoned by someone I had a crush on. After hearing fix you I cried and I felt like the song really spoke to me. The song made me feel way better than I had for the few days before. I decided after that to check out the rest of the band's album to find not only was fix you amazing, but the whole album was just brilliant. I quickly fell in love with X&Y. I know some people don't like the album as much, but I can say that every album has a different feel and a different theme. Before Ghost Stories, I honestly think that this album was the most raw and personal album that the band had done. Not only for them but I think the album hit a lot of themes that everyone can relate to. I love X&Y as well as all the other albums and thank you so much for making it...It made me feel a lot better and made me realize that your the greatest band in the world. Thank You Coldplay.
April 29, 201412 yr Alex United States X&Y is one of the best albums I've ever listened to and it has so many great classic coldplay songs from "fix you" to my personal favorite "what if." Those songs have helped me through so much, and the whole album is simply beautiful. Each song is musically and lyrically wonderful and every aspect of it is amazing. Thank you coldplay for making this album!
April 29, 201412 yr Kyle United States X&Y is such an important album to me because without it, I would not know Coldplay today, and in result, my life would be very different. In fact, I don't think I would even be interested in music. It all started with the song "Fix You". "Fix You" was played in a commercial for the movie "World Trade Center" in 2005. I heard it and was instantly taken by it. Not thinking he would know it, I asked my Dad if he knew what that song was. He in fact did know and told me it was by Coldplay. That's where everything started. I looked more into Coldplay and soon became hooked on other songs by them. What was one of these other songs? It was "Speed Of Sound", which is of course another song off X&Y. It was from this point that I started getting more into Coldplay. I started listening to ever single song I could find by them, and I enjoyed them all. This is where I got into music. I wanted to play piano just like Chris, so I taught myself the piano. The first song I learned? "Speed Of Sound". So Coldplay introduced and inspired me to play music. Today, I play piano, guitar, drums, and bass. I would not have learned all these great instruments if it weren't for Coldplay. Once again, I would not know where my life would be today without Coldplay, and I wouldn't know Coldplay if it weren't for "Fix You". "Fix You" would not be here without X&Y. X&Y is so important to me because it not only kicked off the beginning of my musical life, but my life period. Coldplay literally is my life, and X&Y is what started it all for me. X&Y, for me, is literally a life changing album. Thank you Coldplay! Edit: Whoops... I did not see the 2 or 3 lines only part. My bad. :sweatdrop:
April 29, 201412 yr Abby Philippines This album has some of the most amazing and most memorable songs Coldplay has ever put out. This album deserves more love!!!
April 29, 201412 yr John Mexico X&Y is an important album to me because it helped me during a hard phase of my life. I was really depressed. I relate to the lyrics of this whole album, specially "A Message", "Swallowed in the Sea", "Square One", "What If", "Low", "Talk", "Fix You"... well, EVERY SONG. It's like Chris talking to me and that's comforting. The music is very spacey and fabulous. Coldplay, X&Y means a lot to me. Please don't give up on this album :shy::smiley:
April 29, 201412 yr Macky from USA Dear Coldplay, X&Y is an amazing album and I love it for many reasons. It helped me go through a lot few years ago and there are some songs that still make me cry. This album has also brought me a lot of happiness. It means so much to me and to all the Coldplayers I know. Now let me highlight few of my favorite songs: Fix You, this song alone shits on many artists and bands entire discography. It's definitely one of the best songs ever written. A Message, all I can say is that I love it. I love it. I love it. The Hardest Part, I remember seeing you playing this song live on your piano. I consider that moment one of the biggest highlight of my life. Speed Of Sound, this reminds me of my freshman year. Freshman year was amazing and this is the song that always brings back all the good memories. I can go on and on and on but I don't want to bore you too much. Love you :)
April 29, 201412 yr Amelia UK X&Y is an incredible album. There are so many good songs - The Hardest Part, Talk, Low - that it would be terrible to have to choose. I could list every single one of those songs as a song that I love to listen to. I love Fix You - I know it's an incredibly important song to many people - because it just reminds me of my childhood. Even the b-sides are masterpieces (Gravity, How You See The World) and I don't know how I'd be able to live without them. It doesn't seem like nine years since X&Y came out. I've grown up with this album, and I'm incredibly glad I did.
April 29, 201412 yr Hannah Belgium X&Y is the first Coldplay album I listened to and I immediately loved it. It's the album that made me a fan. It has the first Coldplay songs I remember hearing on the radio as an 8 year old (Speed of Sound and Talk) and even though I don't love it as much anymore and I prefer the other albums now, it will always be the album that started everything, so it's very important to me.
April 29, 201412 yr Mariano Venezuela Having really liked Parachutes and AROBTTH, X&Y was the album that definitely transformed me into a Coldplay (massive) fan. I know that you are not really convinced about the final result, but I can honestly tell you that I believe that it is a wonderful album. Apart from containing my all time favorite Coldplay song (Fix You) it really has amazing tracks (Square One, A Message, The Hardest Part, Til Kingdom Come). Don't be ever ashamed of it because it is indeed a marvelous record. Thank you for your music.
April 29, 201412 yr Nicholas United States When X&Y came out it was when I first starting to listen to Coldplay, and I've been a fan ever sense. Sure I heard some of their hits before then like Clocks and Yellow, but this album made me a true fan. X&Y is not only my favorite Coldplay album, but my favorite album, period. I think it's a masterpiece from beginning to end. It might be the only album I've ever listened to where I love every single song on it. From slow, sweet songs like Fix You, Piano/Synthesiser heavy Speed of Sound, to acoustic Til Kingdom Come, it all creates such a unique album that holds up extremely well. An album I will always come back to.
April 29, 201412 yr felicia x&y was the first album i heard and the one that made me a fan. It connects so strongly to me and helped me so much when i was depressed. And i really love all the songs and always get moved when i listen to them. Square one is one of my favorite songs ever. Talk and low make me cry when i listen to them. Thank you so much for this music.
April 29, 201412 yr That's a nice idea. Thank you! Hope it works. Suzana Brazil X&Y is the very first album I loved and the one that introduced me to music. Furthermore, I was a teenager then and loving the album and Coldplay helped me define the individual I was becoming then and the one I am now. I've gone a bit of a long distance from that point, but I shall always cherish X&Y and its influence as I tried to set my principles and perspectives as a person growing up. Actually, to this date, from time to time, I feel the urge of listening to the album or at least to some individual songs.
April 29, 201412 yr Zach Moldova even if you say it turned up 60% of what you hoped it would be, it sure had 100% effect on me .....best album P.S.Better make a big stand and tell someone who lives near the bakery to leave it there lol
April 30, 201412 yr évi hungary i love the lyrics, the harder sounding, guitar and drums and the build up of the songs. makes me want to add more and more volume when i listen it. fills me with energy and brings back determinative memories for me. i'm happy you made an album like this is. thank you! low is amazing!
April 30, 201412 yr Harrison Australia Fix You was the first song ever to bring me to tears when I first heard it. I also cried the second and quite a few more, especially when I saw it live. X&Y just has that affect on people and it's an amazing affect! I absolutely love listening to the whole album and all the sounds it brings. When I saw you guys on the MX tour, I wasn't expecting much X&Y except for Fix You which was upsetting, but then I was so thrilled when you played Speed of Sound acoustic! Even though you boys might not see it, but X&Y is an amazing album and I Thankyou all so much for giving to all of us!
April 30, 201412 yr Rhys, Australia Speed Of Sound is the song that prompted me to find out what other songs Coldplay had created. If it wasn't for X&Y, I would never have become a Coldplay fanatic. And to this day, Square One remains one of my favourite album openers.
April 30, 201412 yr Olivia Indiana, USA X&Y is an amazing album and one of my favorite coldplay albums. many of my absolute favorite coldplay songs come from X&Y, including A Message, Square One, Swallowed in the Sea, and Fix You. Thanks so much for making such an incredible piece of music, love you guys!
April 30, 201412 yr First let me say great idea. I was listening to the recent interview on BBC1 and heard when Chris said that X&Y was about 60% of what the band was aiming for. It's not the first time that he says he was not happy with the album. I understand that as the one of the creators of the album he is entitled to that opinion but it makes me sad to hear when he says that because X&Y is my favorite Coldplay album and my favorite album of all time from any artist. Dee United States Around the time X&Y was released I was going through an incredibly stressful and depressing period in my life. I was sitting at my computer on the week the album was released and saw that AOL was streaming the album. I was familiar with the band but I was not a fan. Out of pure curiosity I started listening to the album. I was expecting to hate it but much to my surprise I enjoyed song after song. The lyrics resonated with me especially those of Fix You, Talk and Square One. To this day X&Y is my favorite album and it is because of this album that Coldplay has become my favorite artist/band of all time. Not only did the album help me get through difficult moments back then but it's the album I keep coming back to any time I'm struggling with personal issues.
