Wait, when did they say they got inspired by Rammstein? That would be super cool. I love Rammstein!!

Dafuq?? So now Chris is going to rap on the album?? :inquisitive:

I don't know the band's music but Chris Martin has been referencing them for years, even sometimes as a joke since at least AROBTTH/X&Y eras... One thing's for sure, he's been listening to them for years!!

latest interview[/url]

Quote:

Martin's favorite moment on the album sounds the least like Coldplay: "X Marks the Spot," where he spits rhymes through a vocoder over drum loops. "Most of the instruments on that song didn't exist when we made our first album," Martin says. "People who want us to be a rock band might be disappointed, but I don't think we really are a rock band."

I don't know about anyone else, but I absolutely loove the concept for this album... I thought that was the feel they were going for with MX, I think they realised staying in rock might constrain too much, so after that they have decided to lose those rock shackles and just embrace everything they know and love, and put it together to bring through that feeling of joy, and love, and confidence / being at peace with who they are and what they've become... and best of all, they are sharing it with us! That is how they've ended up with so many people on the album - significant to them, not to music nor to us, but it's a reflection of who they are through the people in their lives. Come on people, the band, and particularly Chris are finally opening up and sharing their life and music with us, and all we can come up with is - it's the death of the band / the world, etc etc???

Don't you guys get it, they are trying to take us flying with them in their musical world... sharing their joys, influences, and happy thoughts. Come along for the ride guys - don't get left behind! They probably will eventually return to rock in 5-10 years when their children get to teenage / rebellious years and "discover" that music, but for now, it's pop and whatever else is in that album! Leave your rock behind for a few years (or stay with their old music in those years if you prefer), but heed the message - the time is in the now! Chris is feeling alive again and the whole band wants to take us there with him :D So jump up, embrace the change, and see their new world!!!

:loveshower:

:bliss:

Rolling Stone thoughts:

Chris says that this album isn't rock but what does that really mean? If we know anything about Chris by now it is that he says a lot that never ends up being true. These guys are still a quartet and all samples/hints of the album suggest guitars, drums, and bass will be present. Let's not fret you guys, I think there will still be some rock sounds even if they dive into other genres.

I also feel like this article confirms Kaleidoscope is the spoken word track (poem reading) :disappointed: The article says it is psychedelic and frankly, the title of the song suggests that too. Plus it is dead center in the album meaning it would be a good place for a breather. So maybe two minutes of instrumentation with poem reading?

This really disappoints me. I love that title, and I think since Color Spectrum is also going to be an interlude. This means that my two favorite tracks names will be minuscule... Not cool.

The source that said every song on the album were completely different a while back was right. Lol.

Oh Chris u dont even understand ur own band. Not a rock band? Listen to AROBTTH all the way through again because that was awarded number one ROCK album of 2002. At heart, Coldplay is rock with pop influences, not the other way around. Get ur stuff straight Chris.

umm... i would think the guy who is actually writing the songs may probably know it better.. ;)

Why would iTunes have the time for a song that won't be released any time soon? Interesting.....

It usually does that, and I know by experience as I am a long-time iTunes user. Also this could hint as the next song being released (not as a single) because pre-orders on iTunes usually release non-single songs before the whole thing. (Usually goes for bands like Coldplay, and not 1D)

Maybe they will debut "Everglow" with Zane Lowre at the radio, and after that, release the song on iTunes :what:

We are hopefully gonna see Everglow,AHFOD,Up&Up as some new song at the Tidal concert along with AOAL Amazing Day + the typical Clocks-Viva-ASFOS-Yellow-Fix You-Paradise-ETIAW or possibly Magic/Charlie Brown could be subbed in for songs they recently always perform...Cant wait to see them live soon!

looks like we might be getting a radio edit of everglow as well. possible single?

They're all insanely great musicians...but Chris is that 1 percenter. He could write songs in his sleep.

The only problem to me is that...I feel he's made so many friends in the pop community- that's why he's making pop music. He feels like he fits in more with that world.

And us that grew up listening to Coldplay ...this is sad. But ..I do have faith they'll return to rock. It'll probably be after their career dies down a bit...though that's not looking like it's happening soon.

Upcoming stuff:

- (??/??) Ellen

- (??/??) The Late Show with James Corden

- (??/??) The Voice

- (??/??) Q Magazine issue

- (21/11) TIDALXCOLDPLAY

- (22/11) American Music Awards

- (25/11) Zane Lowe interviews Chris and releases a new song

- (27/11) AOAL music video

- (3/12) BBC Live Lounge

- (3/12) BBC Radio 1 show at St John's Hackney Church

- (3/12) iHeart Album Release show

Please let me know if something's missing.

Things were clearer before the announcement of the album than now :D

I wonder if I'll be able to resist myself from listening any new songs until the album comes out... I think I'll give it a go.

damn time seems to be so short now haha

Wow, so many things happened during the week.. interviews, secret shows... barely have time to read everything. Looking forward to Everglow!!
