UPDATE: 21 MAY 2009 Coldplay win at Ivor Novello awards May 21, 2009 5:14 pm Viva La Vida picks up award Good afternoon. At today's Ivor Novello awards in London, Viva La Vida won the award for Best Selling British Song. The Ivor Novellos honour "excellence in British music writing", so it's a welcome addition to the band's collective mantelpiece. The award was collected on behalf of Coldplay by their long-standing publisher and friend, Caroline Elleray. Click here for the full list of winners. I was browsing through E Bay for Coldplay stuff (as you do) and came across this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Coldplay-Chris-Martin-shirt-Unique-opportunity_W0QQitemZ220415799073QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Music_Music_Memorabilia_LE?hash=item220415799073&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1687%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A0%7C293%3A2%7C294%3A50 Now I hate to give this person free advertising but I wondered what you all think about him cashing in on Chris's generosity when he threw his shirt to the crowd that night in Bologna?

With only 10 months left in the decade of 2000-2009. For me it is very safe to say, Coldplay have commanded this decade music wise. In 2000 they broke through as well all know with Yellow and, in my opinion one of the best debut efforts of all time, Parachutes. It was an album inspired by Neil Young and REM. Im going to say this, Im not going to compare U2 and Coldplay at all, other then by their success, since they have almost nothing in common. To me its a great album with strong instrumental work that is key in a successful record. The music is obviously written by young men, but its great at that. Martins lyrics are some of the best of most musicians this early in…

i saw a cool article about a cappella covers of Coldplay songs, done by college a cappella groups. it was in the Washington Post Express, complete with YouTube links to videos of the songs: http://www.expressnightout.com/content/2009/05/coldplay_cappella.php --------------------------------------------------- I'VE NEVER REALLY been much of a Coldplay fan: their music sounds like it was written just to score movies and TV shows — and much of it ends up edited for that purpose or just plain overplayed over the airwaves. But back in 2006, I was listening to the latest BOCA album — "Best of College A Cappella," an annual mix CD compiled from that year's a cappe…

Is LeftRightLeftRightLeft the song going to be available to download too? I'm slightly confused about this. I know this is a track they didn't release, but none of this stuff seems to suggest that it will be released as well. If that is the case...then why is the album called LRLRL?

Hi Everyone, I don't know if you've seen this before, but this is one of the most beautiful versions of Viva La Vida covers I've heard. By the end of it, I almost cried....literally. The first part is Taylor Swift's Love Story and Viva La Vida comes in halfway. I think the boys would've enjoyed listening to this. :D [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0v3d6SFcDys]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0v3d6SFcDys[/ame]

I was wondering if anyone would be able to answer me regarding two topics that have been making me really curious....im hearing different answers from coldplay fans and its really making me confused... I noticed for in alot of the ablum 'Viva la Vida' there is a ton of violin...Who plays the violin? Or is this from a keyboard? Do they play the violin on the stage for their live performances? If so who does? -and- Is Viva la Vida based off the French Revolutionary War or the 'todays' war? What inspired Chris to be compose about the war?

In today's issue of Rollingstone magazine, there's a small blurb about Coldplay and their upcoming summer tour. However, it gives some good information. :D "We're going to make the set list a little longer, throw in some extra songs and figure out ways to reach the last row," says Coldplay bassist Guy Berryman of the band's three-month trek through mostly outdoor venues. Also, the band will be giving away copies of a new live album, Leftrightleftrightleft, at every show. And also on the table of contents page under the rollingstone.com section it says: Coldplay Live tweets, pictures and our report from opening night of Coldplay's tour in Florida. http://www.r…

Hampton Roads interview with Will: So just hung up with Will Champion, the drummer from Coldplay. (Our second time talking; great guy. Chill, humble, smart and patient with someone who's probably asking at least one question someone else already has.) Anyway, I digress. You might have heard that, as of yesterday, there are now four groups claiming Coldplay plagiarized them, the latest being Yusuf Islam, who says "Viva La Diva" swipes part of his 1973 song "Foreigner Suite." (Of course, he recorded that song under a different name. But, I say if a man vants to be called Muhammad Ali, this is a free country, you should respect his vishes, and call the man Muhammad Ali…

They looked great at the start, but I think they are now starting to look a little tired. The black has faded almost to gray and they just look worn out! What do you think?

I was on Coldplay's official Bebo () page, funnily enough the page hasn't been updated since around February. Anyway, I went to their photo album and found a bunch of pictures from the Violet Hill photoshoot that I hadn't seen before. Sadly due to Bebo's stupid image size limitations the images are tiiiny. I'll post them here. If anyone finds bigger versions, let us know. :P Sadly due to the size they're barely visible. :(

I don't think this has been done. I was wondering what your favorite line from any Coldplay song was? Heartfelt or just plain awesome? I think mine might be 'When you lose something you can't replace' 'Could it be worse?' Or just simply 'And it was called Yellow'

True story. And I didn't realize it until this morning. Here is the full story. Yesterday 8:30 - Briggins wakes up and goes to work 1:00 - Briggins gets home from work. 1:01 - Briggins goes up to his room and takes off his work uniform. Now he is just standing there in his boxers picking out his clothes to wear for the rest of the day. 1:02 - Briggins decides to put on his Viva La Vida tour shirt. But his pants are in the basement so he goes to get those. 2:30 - Briggins downloads Left Right Left Right Today 11:30 - Briggins realizes that the Coldplay tour had just started that night. So subconsciously he may have picked that shirt out because the tour had st…

"The result is a fully-realized, feel-good show where the band’s confidence in their sound and comfort in their goofily ordinary skin allows them to take that straight-ahead, sentimental pop and send it somewhere soaring." Can anyone figure out what Chris is saying during the new part added in Clocks on the VLV tour? If you listen to the LRLRL version you can hear it like 3:00 minutes in. Its really hard to tell, I wonder if anyone figured it out at the shows??
