Hi I was just wondering if anyone knows the story behind the album artwork for Coldplay's Live 2003 DVD? Who is it by? What's it about? To me it looks like a map of some kind, or is it just an abstract pattern? Many thanks

  2. Jonny Buckland (left) and Chris Martin SINGAPORE : They are one of the hottest bands right now and wowed a full-house this week at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. Having sold over 50,000 records world-wide - not to mention picking up a couple of Grammys along the way - Coldplay is on top of the world. But the UK band isn't settling on any formula for success but constantly evolving their sound. The UK band took a very different direction for their fourth album - Viva La Vida - and many said it's the most experimental offering from Coldplay. Though it wasn't well received by some critics, it's one of the top selling albums of last year. "People have a lot of c…

  3. James Morrison: I get mistaken for Chris Martin James Morrison has an album out soon Singer doesn't mind being likened to Coldplay star Saturday, 20 September 2008 James Morrison says people often confuse him with Chris Martin. And the Undiscovered singer finds it amusing to be mistaken for the Coldplay frontman. ‘People come up and think they recognise me,’ he tells The Sun. ‘I pretend to be someone else and say I get it all the time. 'I tell them I look a bit …

Coldplay have now met the Australian band that supposedly inspired their fashion sense. After the group's blue, green, red and purple jackets drew Wiggles comparisons at last month's Grammy Awards in LA, lead singer Chris Martin chatted with three of the original Hot Potato singers - Jeff Fatt, Murray Cook and Anthony Field - after Coldplay's Acer Arena gig last week. Martin and wife Gwyneth Paltrow's daughter, Apple, 4, is said to be a huge fan of the kiddies' group. Coldplay also incorporated The Wiggles' song Fruit Salad into their set on the night. http://www.news.com.au/couriermail/story/0,23739,25227209-5003421,00.html

Coldplay have decided to take a break because they fear people are getting bored of them. The group have postponed plans to begin work on the follow-up to 'Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends' to figure out which direction to take their music in next. Guitarist Johnny Buckland revealed: 'We ended up doing much more touring than we originally planned so there's no time to do proper justice to a new project. And anyway people may need a bit of a break from us. 'We're taking a little break and let's see where we get after that. We've got a lot of ideas but we want to find a new way to go and that may take some time.' Johnny also spoke out about the mili…

Just flipping through music channels and came across this quick, little cartoon of Coldplay on MTV2 They're all sat at a press conference and Chris is doing all the talking. Then a journalist asks a question he doesn't like and he storms off. Jonny, Will & Guy all cheer, then they start pointing in the direction he went in chanting "Who are ya?" Kind of funny - and the drawing look nicer that the LITii puppets! I think you can find it on here: http://www.mtv.co.uk/vidiots

  7. Didn't see any post about it yet, so I thought I'd spread the word! Coldplay.com/mobile Works great for the iPhone users out there. Even now have iPhone sized photos and wallpaper. As well YouTube music videos. I believe it works for all mobiles out there to. Funny how just an hour ago I was complaining not nearly enough bands have iPhone optimized there websites. Now the band of all bands has.

  8. Let's limit it to 14 tracks, since that's about as long as your average album gets. Here's mine: 1. Life In Technicolor ii 2. White Shadows 3. The Scientist 4. Everything's Not Lost 5. Lost! 6. Talk 7. A Rush Of Blood To The Head 8. Yellow 9. Green Eyes 10. 42 11. God Put A Smile Upon Your Face 12. Strawberry Swing 13. Till Kingdom Come 14. Fix You It's not in order of my favourites, just what I thought was the best way for it to flow together.

Coldplay guitarist Jonny Buckland chatted to us from a hotel room in Singapore last week before flying in for the Abu Dhabi show. Here’s what he had to say… Did you specifically request a gig in the Middle East? Well we always try to play somewhere new when we’re on tour. We’ve wanted to come to the Middle East for a while as we’ve never been before. We’ve also never been to Africa or India either so there are quite a few places we are looking to go some day. There was a rumour doing the rounds that you’d record the Abu Dhabi gig to give to fans who attended. True? No [Laughs]. We are trying to do a live album but it’s not ready yet. It’s made up of different…

There's also video of Chris and Jonny being interviewed from Singapore in the link below http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/entertainmentfeature Coldplay want you to sing along SINGAPORE : British band Coldplay broke onto the international scene with their debut album “Parachutes” and hit single “Yellow” in 2000. Led by Chris Martin on vocals and piano, Jon Buckland (guitar), Will Champion (drums) and Guy Berryman (bass), Coldplay has sold over 50 million albums to date and has become one of the biggest rock bands in the world. Despite their phenomenal success with their first three albums - “Parachutes” (2000), “A Rush of Blood to the Head” (2002) and “X…

  12. COLDPLAY may have sold more than 50million albums but frontman CHRIS MARTIN admits he still feels as scared as a total novice in the music business. The Shiver singer confessed: “Every day I wake up and think, ‘OK, today we’ve got to really prove ourselves. We’ve got to justify where we are.’ “I always feel like my dad’s going to burst through my bedroom door at any moment and wake me up to go back to my real job.” Talking in Australia, the singer also said how he shrugs off any cristicism about his music: “We’re like Vegemite in many respects. “A lot of people like us, but many more people don’t. I’d like to convince everyone that our particular brand of V…

  13. Chris Martin performs during a concert in Singapore as part of Coldplay's 'Viva La Vida' tour, on March 23, 2009. ABU DHABI // Coldplay’s last album was inspired by the sights and sounds of South America, but the next will draw on the Middle East’s rich cultural heritage. Speaking yesterday, ahead of this weekend’s eagerly awaited concert at the Emirates Palace hotel, the British band’s lead singer Chris Martin described the visit to Abu Dhabi as part of a musical odyssey that typified Coldplay’s spirit. Huge international acclaim has taken the band to countries as far apart as the US, New Zealand and Singapore. But Martin said he was looking beyond a single liv…

  17. Allthough I love all their songs, there are a very few Coldplay songs that actually mean something personal to me. Most of them were because of memories I have and that song was there to help me, or comfort me, or anything else it needed do for me. Feel free to share those songs that mean something to you... For me, the songs are Gravity, Everything's Not Lost, and Warning Sign. All for different reasons, but they all fit my experiences perfectly.

  18. NOW then, now then. CHRIS MARTIN has done a bit of JIMMY SAVILE-style fixing it for his family. The COLDPLAY frontman introduced his dad Anthony to Grease star OLIVIA NEWTON JOHN while the band toured Down Under, satisfying a lifetime ambition for his old man. Chris said: “When I was a kid my dad would make me listen to Olivia Newton John in the car all the time. He’s always been a massive fan and the main reason he comes on tour with us to Australia is on the off chance she might be there and he’d get to meet her. And for the first time, on this trip, she was and I set up a breakfast for them. My dad said to me afterwards, ‘Son, you made a lifelong dream come true…

  20. Hi I've re-threaded this guys because for some reason the original thread has joined the old popart thread and now people can't see the link for my Chris Martin painting because it is buried in the middle of the old thread. Hi guys, I did this Chris Martin Popart. Hope you like it. I think it's a big improvement on the Coldplay parody painting I did. I hope you think so too! This is the only painting available and there will be no prints or copies made. It has also been copyright protected so please do not use it without my permission. If however it does sell and you bid but lose, then please feel free to get in touch with me and I can paint another one for y…

  21. I found this video clip and thought it was cute. Essentially Barca's manager Pep Guardiola loves Coldplay and puts it on for the team, and they love it, especially Viva La Vida, because it brings them luck and helps them. And they compare the lyrics to Pep Guardiola himself. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YxhVjcpPHMY]YouTube - Guardiola y coldplay -Barça-[/ame] It's cute how they have those headphones on with the high probability that they are listening to Coldplay. All crowding around each other with iPods and whatnot. LOL at Dani Alves. He said that it doesn't help him much because he doesn't understand what the song means. :laugh3: And Pep doing simila…

  24. Apologies if this is a topic covered previously on these forums- I am a 'newbie' to the Coldplaying forums! (I did do a forum search but could not locate any similar threads). My question is, has there ever been problems noticed or comment made about the sound quality on the 'Live 2003' DVD? Recently I bought a copy and whilst playing it, noticed what seemed to be very distorted, 'static-y' sound on some songs, particularly the more 'amplified'/heavy sections of tracks such as Politik, GPASUYF, etc. Has anyone else noticed this, is it a figment of my imagination, or do I possible have a bad copy? No big deal, it cost me all of $10 AUS- but I have played the DVD o…
