It's been a long time, but it's a question that's been bothering me for the past few hours. Could you live without cars? Meaning your not allowed to drive a car, or be a passenger in a car/taxi, with the only transport your allow to use is planes, trains, boats and buses, could you survive?

What do you do when you have 20 minutes before you have to be somewhere / do something and you have nothing to do? I'm completely alone and I don't want to watch TV. I suppose I could write. That's what I've done in the past... But I don't feel like that right now either. If I could, I would have a ridiculous philosophical discussion that would come to no conclusion with someone. But that's not an option either.

Sorry for the long title,lol. David's poll got me thinking about this. If oil becomes too expensive for must of us, and motorized transportation becomes something only the very rich can afford, could we survive? All of the goods and services we have come to depend on are shipped by planes, trains and trucks. Were we to lose that, could we continue to function? And how would we do it? This isn't a question we have to answer in the near future...it's a question we have to start answering now. So, here's the thread for some intelligent discussion. There's one happening on the Keane forum at the moment - The moderators choose a subject and we all make CDs of songs with that theme and we are paired up with other boardies and we then mail the CDs to each other and write 'reviews' on the forum.
