  1. OK, so I was wondering people's views on Mother Teresa after seeing her name mentioned on the board. There are two sides to her life and what I know of her I find very interesting. She was beautified by the Catholic church upon her death and holds the title Blessed Teresa of Calcutta. During her life she was also a Superior General within the church. She is well known for her kind heart and missions, tending to the needs of the poverty stricken and starving through her schools. Her work began as a small order with 13 members in Calcutta; today it has more than 4,000 nuns running orphanages, AIDS hospices and charity centers worldwide, and caring for refugees, the bl…

If you were one of the miners being rescued in Chile, when would you want to come out? Would you want to be the first? The very last one? Somewhere in the first half or the group, or the last half? When would you want to come out... and more important, give reasons for your choice.

Since the Tall army was to weak to fight, I declare that the short army has won the war! so let's stop making more stupid threads, let us instead focus on what is truly important, GETTING RID OF HEIGHT DISCRIMINATION!!! let us all stop discriminating people based on their height, let us live as brother's and sister's not as enemies! from henceforth, we will not use words such as "tall" and "short" to describe people, instead we will focus on what's inside, it's the content of their character that matters not the height of thier body! btw, everyone is welcome to join Braddock in the celebration orgy :sneaky:

I run on my high school cross country team and I'm a junior. My freshman and sophmore years were both outstanding seasons i thought for my team. Sophmore year I medaled in three races and broke 19 min. for a 5k. But this year just has been god awful I never thought it would be this bad. Maybe its my lack of motivation by I love running! First race went alright and I thought i did really well. Then the second race was terrible I ran 24 minutes because i stopped several times to walk. WHICH I HAVE NEVER DONE BEFORE IN MY 4 YEARS OF RUNNING CROSS COUNTRY! Coach was so dissapointed and so were my parents even though they keep encouraging me. Then I stopped again in the next r…

  17. I'm leaning toward Feynman but my dad wants to call her Fermi. She's a stray that we think was dumped and keeps rubbing up against us obsessively and purring and she's so damn cute we may adopt her. Nobody suggest Schrödinger, please. Such a corny name for a cat.

I'd like to know what kind of experiences some of you have had with drinking. I'm 21 and had my first drink when I was 15 (a little before I turned 16, the legal drinking age in my country). I've never had big problems with drinking before; I've always known where my limits are and I never drink without the company of friends. A few days ago, however, I suffered from acute alcohol poisoning. I was lucky enough to be at my student association in the company of several good friends and my ex-boyfriend. The emergency services were contacted and they were able to wake me. Thankfully my friends took good care of me and took me home. You can imagine how scared I was. Accordin…

http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/video/2010/jan/25/mark-boyle-no-money-man I know someone who did something similar, but they didn't quite make it a rule that they couldn't spend money, they just tried being homeless for a year. Just lived in a tent or squatted in houses from time to time. Didn't really ask them too much about how they did it and lost touch with them, didn't think of asking about things like bathing. He did say that food was the easiest part (if you watch the video you'll see the guy gets pretty stocked up on food with minimal effort).

Morning in Paris, the city awakes, to the belllls of Nooootre Daaaame. The fisherman fishes, the bakerman bakes to the bells of Noootre Daaame. To the big bells as loud as the thunder To the little bells soft as a psaaalm And some say the soul of the city's the toll of the bells! The bellls of Nooootre Daaaame.

For the first time. Laaaame. Thought I would say since I don't have time to reply to VM's and PM's but didn't want you to think I was being ignorant. Not sure how often I'll be able to get on here till I have fixed it, probably not often at all. I'm on my parents laptop now but time is extremely limited. In positive news I am now 6ft. After losing a stone in weight in one month and doing loads more exercise, at the age of 22 and a half I have miraculously grown an inch and a tiny bit after not growing for the last 4 years! 6ft Sounds so much cooler than 5ft 11 :smug: I'll see you guys around as much as I can and I wish you all well and hope you are all happy.
