Just a thought . . . do you think Jonny will continue to use his Viva-painted guitar or will he switch to one that would match this era?

He sold the VIVA guitar

James Murphy sampled Velvet Underground on LCD Soundsystem's Drunk Girls. Nobody tell me that LCD weren't one of the best bands of the past decade. Samplings are hard to pull off and require a lot of talent to make it their own.

Personally I love the new track, I think it's fantastic and could dance/jump/be enthusiastic to it all day. It remind my of LCD's All My Friends in that it follows the same two chords throughout and builds on them to a big ending.

Great work.

Or a excuse for lack of creativity.

Are there some press reactions or so? The pre-infos about the song were great and only highly positive...and now?

I LOVE IT!!! It's very X&Y meets VLV to me, which I adore. I love the upbeat nature of it and I'm very happy with the results... I can't wait for the album!!!

Downloading on iTunes now works in the USA, I just downloaded it!!

I quite enjoy this. It's not as deep as I was possibly hoping, but doesn't mean it's not great fun. And hey, neither was Viva. They're both wonderful, catchy, awesome pop songs. I just guess I was expecting another Violet Hill - something completely out of left field, stylistically. Yeah, this is dancey but it's not as unexpected as I was hoping. Still, from the studiofeed videos, and all I've heard about the process, I'm guessing that the album will be a little more out there.

I'm 5 plays in, and it's growing on me rapidly.

Thanks God they have come out with a statement about the intro similarity to another song!

I just need a little bit more time to get into the song!

Or a excuse for lack of creativity.

What a pig ignorant thing to say.

I think it's worth considering that this song might not be indicitive of the album at all (we don't even know that's it's on there, although I imagine it will be) and maybe they wouldn't have released it first if they weren't playing all these festivals...but Glastonbury, especially, must have been playing on their mind and maybe they wanted to release something summery, upbeat and festival friendly (which it most certainly is)

Hopefully they'll play some more new songs tonight and we can get a feel for what they've been up to :)

Taking off for Germany.. Massively excited to hear some new songs live tonight. pH

SOME new songs?!

Jealous!! Get us some names if you can! Some vids would rock too but that's a lot to ask :P

Well, what can I say... obviously, old coldplay is gone forever but that's not bad at all, all the albums are different in some way. After a couple of listens I think that is a fresh song, great for summertime (although it's almost winter here :P) and it's a fun song to sing along. I don't believe that every song on this album is going to be like this, or at least I hope so, because even though I like this song I would like to hear the Coldplay I fell in love to. For example, when Beady Eye released their first single "Bring The Light" everybody (including me) were excited for it but when it came out it was quite disappointing actually, and everybody was saying how simple it was and how shit the lyrics were. But when the album came out, it turned to be one of the best albums i've heard.

I hope Coldplay had released this song just because they're playing some festivals and they thought this song could be nice for summertime, and then when the album comes out, it will blow out our minds. After all, we've waited 3 long years, and they come out with Ritmo De La Noche??

Omg! Coldplay has a new song out! I had to log on and post something to show my Coldplay love!

Riiiiiitmo, ritmo de la noche! It's cool that it's a dancy sort of song. Was thinking it would be after looking at the lyrics. I like that it's upbeat.

I am beginning to think that this song is not even part of LP5.

I am beginning to HOPE it is not a part of it, but I am sure it is though...

it's growing on me. i remember hating Violet Hill and Viva La Vida when they were released, but after hearing them in context of the entire album they were great. i'll hold out hope, im sure the boys wont fail to disappoint me

The guitar reminds me of Brothers & Sisters

I really don't know if this will be on the album or not. Like withe their previous "lead" singles they were announced by the band "in promotion" with the already named and dated album. LP5 has yet to be announced or named. With the festivals starting today, this could just well be a one off single.

I think it will be great for festivals! Lollapalooza here I come! I can imagine it being played there or any festival for that matter! :)

I guess it was smart to take a riff of that popular dance song and use it in the beginning...cause I kind of got into it right away. I love that song!

You know, when I listen to ETisW without earphones, I can kinda see where that guy thought there might be some country influences. The electric and acoustic guitars together sound like they could be riffs from some pop-ish country song

Hmmmm... sort of reminds of me of a cross between Lovers in Japan and dance beats on the initial listen. It's alright. Not sure if it's my favorite by them right now, but it has time to grow on me a bit more.
