 It didn't, well, not that I know of.(We are just all super excited because of the description/review of the song that iTunes posted today)

I see, thank you : )

At this point I'm cool with waiting till Friday, it'll be a nice way to start off the weekend!

You're welcome! Ah, I've heard quite a few stories like that on here

It's funny how, given the reactions so far, that description seems to sum up what everyone has been waiting for

It's getting harder to have medium, not too high expectations for this song!

Exactly.

I'm gonna make my guess: I would say that the "somber, sparely accompanied melody" plus the "sweeping percussion" can be like the beginning of Violet Hill (the sweeping percussion part can be like Politik too, or I hope so)

Anyways, I prefer that it sounds just like Atlas.

"sweeping percussion"

:dazzled:

My thoughts EXACTLY!!

Atlas "blooms with gauzy production and sweeping percussion"

-The description sounds good but it's still too early to say anything until I hear the new song.

The "gauzy production" bit has me a bit worried . . .

. . . But the rest sounds awesome :awesome:

Same here. Overproduction was the one major thing I had against MX...:\

Definition of GAUZY

1

: made of or resembling gauze <gauzy wings>

2

: marked by vagueness, elusiveness, or fuzziness <his gauzy memory of the events> <a gauzy melody>

3

: tending to be or make romantic <gauzy optimism>

See gauzy defined for English-language learners »

I'll take the romantic definition over the others

It could be #2. Think about it, a fuzzy, vague, production. Something that jut doesn't make sense, in a brilliant way. Something in the lines of Exit Music (For A Film) by Radiohead, when it turns into its climax.

Totally agree :smug:

Or something like Amsterdam. The somberness that is the majority of the song, then that euphoria of an ending (especially like Live 2003)

Its freakin Coldplay, guys. This is what they are now. Ever since the Viva era, the music has been overproduced, for better or for worse.

If it is even a touch like Amsterdam, I'll cry :)

The description sounds promishing.

I don't know how I feel about this combination to be honest.

It sounds like a typical Coldplay track. Starts somber and then it gets more upbeat.

I had a dream a few nights ago, that I heard the track and it was shit. It was so bad I figured I wouldn't even bother coming to this forum to say what I think. Then I woke up and realised there was still a week before release. :p

I like the editor's notes, especially the word "gauzy". Never heard it before but apparently it means something like "misty". Promising.

No previews yet, right?

Right.

They will change again, that's what Coldplay are now.

So we can't say anything really, could be over produced or not, who knows

I think Coldplay have learned a lot from Mylo Xyloto era in terms of promotion and marketing. They now know that's the waiting that can give to a track the strengh to a record. We can easily compare Viva period with Mylo Xyloto one and we have the facts Viva marketing promotion was better and better.

In this case, I'm so happy Coldplay are keeping the waiting time in this way, for three reasons:

1) They are really sure the single is a smash hit

2) They're tired to use a preview to allow to listen the majority of their work without having a real feedback

3) There will be a different marketing work for the next album

Maybe. But if there are doing this, then they have gone from one extreme to another. A preview at this stage I think is ideal. Or perhaps a video snippet had they shot a video for it which I think is highly unlikely.

I definitely picture it as being a combination of MTM/Escapist/DAAHF/Paradise....If it is anything like this combo then it shall be epic. :D
