I was listening to OK Computer by radiohead in the car with my mom on a 2 hour road trip home. I tried to make her like the music I was listening to, but she deemed it to strange, even though I thought it was the most stunning music ever. Do you ever try to convince people to listen to your music???

THE ORANGE LIGHTS have an epic sound, and an album’s worth of big songs with uplifting lyrics. The themes are universal: loss and redemption, clutching hope out of the jaws of desolation and despair - like Spiritualized, The Verve and many great 60’s/ early 70’s soul records. The sound is atmospheric and cinematic like Doves, U2 and Radiohead topped off with loads of personality and the solid gold voice of frontman Jason Hart. The Orange Lights blend their influences – old soul, Brian Eno, Stone Roses, Echo & The Bunnymen, Nick Drake, U2, Radiohead, Ulrich Schnauss and A Reminiscent Drive – into perfect pop songs. As several observers have noted: “It’s the record Ric…

"Lapko is a Finnish alternative rock band from Harjavalta, formed in 1996. Lapko is notable for its popularity in Finland, having received "radio play, explosive concerts, and voluminous critical accolades" even before releasing its debut on a well-known label, according to Allmusic. Their first EP, Your Special K.O. (2003) was self-released. Their debut album The Arms (2004) was released by Jukeboss, but then they were signed to Fullsteam Records and albums Scandal (2006) and Young Desire (2007) saw them gain fame in Finland, reaching the national albums chart." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lapko "If you like Placebo, you like Lapko" So, I'm sure some of you ha…

Can't seem to see a thread about this wonderful American band, which is no justice in the world :( So I have created a thread about the band, not really new as they are on album 4, but having listened to Stay Positive it's making an impact into my top 10 albums of the year so far, maybe even breaking into the top 5

I don't think this artist has really been mentioned on this site. He's a really good folk/songwriter. I saw him open for The Swell Season and his band was really good! Very full band and really melodic songs too. He's coming out with a new album which is now available on NPR (i'm about 1/2 way through it and really enjoying it so far!): http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=126173168 [ame= ] [/ame]

ooh. cannot believe there's no kate nash thread yet. i'm no big fan, but she has a few descent songs. i thought i always liked "Birds" best because it tells such a sweet little story, but today i accidentally listened to "Nicest Things" for the first time and i am currently in love with the lyrics. really, musically she's probably not the best artist out there, but her lyrics are so cute. especially "Nicest Things" got me hooked on her. one of the nicest songs about unrequited love, i guess.

Hey All. I didn't know where to go to introduce people to my band, so I went for my safe option (cause I know ppl here) and to post this thread. Here are some links to my band's various pages in Myspace, iLike and Facebook. Facebook [/url] iLike Here's a wee bio to give you the heads up. So I really wanna see muse on an upcoming tour, but they're only show in my area is on a school night  , and it's 2 hours away from my house, so I'd have to miss school the next day. How can I convince my parents that it is worth missing 1 day of school to see the best live band ever? Thanks :)

The first song on Kid A paints the Manhattan skyline at 8:00 A.M. on Tuesday morning; the song is titled "Everything in Its Right Place." People woke up that day "sucking on a lemon," because that's what life normally feels like on the Manhattan subway; the city is a beautiful, sour, sarcastic place. We soon move onto song two, which is the title track. It is the sound of woozy, ephemeral normalcy. It is the sound of Jonny Greenwood playing an Ondes Martenot, an instrument best remembered for its use in the Star Trek theme song. You can imagine humans walking to work, riding elevators, getting off the C train and the 3 train, and thinking about a future that will be a lot…

First Single [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DwHoh2vNdiA]YouTube - Wild Beasts - 'Hooting & Howling'[/ame] Two Dancers is the second Wild Beasts album. Co-produced by the band and northern enigma Richard Formby in remote Norfolk earlier this year, it follows 2008’s widely celebrated debut Limbo, Panto. The result is a record of tightrope-high drama, put simply, Two Dancers finds the Wild Beasts on fire. Two Dancers is alive with its sense of possibility, a sound that shimmers and sways in the band’s own mercurial fashion. Sit back and listen with wonder at the thrill of it all. Two Dancers inhabits its own landscape, as Tom Fleming says, it’s “a series o…

If you like eletronica, ambient or experimental, i highly recommend you to give him a proper listen. I know that man (Jose Manuel Guerra) from his youtube channel where along those years he mainly did covers of artists as Mike Oldfield, Jean-Michel Jarre and Vangelis. He has learnt to play guitar and bass on his own. When checking what's new about him, i happily get to know he has released an album last year entitled: Beyond the Sky Said album contains 21 tracks, none have lyrics. Is on free download on Jamendo, also is on Spotify. Official Website
