I understand it. It's for safety reasons.

just heard from a person who was at the MTV performance and he said that the place looked a little empty with only the 10 000 ticket holders inside so before the show started they opened up part of "The Wall" and let in the people who were watching from the outside. Live8 was held at the same venue and they had no restrictions in place and it went very smoothly.

Who cares? U2, MTV, or whoever was planning/promoting the event felt the need to take security precautions. It's a situation where you can't win. If there is no perimeter and people end up getting trampled, then U2 are a bunch of assholes for not taking proper precautions when they knew there was going to be a crowd. You do what you think is right and then take the heat. Someone is always going to disagree.

OK, I will admit it. I am slightly obsessed right now. These HD, full screen YouTube videos are amazing. This must be what the DVD is going to be like, as there is full blown editing and everything. And the stage show looks amazing.

I am going to keep rattling on like a broken record until everyone who visits this thread checks it out. This is what music is all about for me. Remember to click full screen AND HD:

Alright. I clicked and you were right. That looks amazing. Absolutely amazing. But I do have to say, it saddens me a bit to watch Bono in HD and see all the evidence of his aging.

^ I guess. However, if I am 1/1000 as cool as him when I am just shy of 50, I will take it. He is still rockin', which I love.

By the way, I love how Bono dances toward the end of the song. It makes me happy :)

Also, I love how it shows Edge hitting his petals after the line "you're love is like a secret that gets passed around."

I just love U2. All those videos are great.

EDIT: And Bono sounds fantastic during this song. Very well sung.

@bjaiken- you're absolutely right... it's just strange (in a way) because I've been closely following them since The Joshua Tree, when they were still pretty young! I guess I should just be glad that they're still making relevant, incredible music all these years later.

I love Coldplay shows for the same reason that I love U2 shows...they are just uplifting. But U2 absolutely created the blue print. Like when Chris Martin used to swing the light bulb during Fix You...that was amazing, but it was right out of the U2 play book. U2 not only has the songs, but they have the complete vibe to go along with it.

Most people nowadays would argue which album would win between The Joshua Tree & Achtung Baby.

^ Maybe if you're big into making lists and ranking. But those albums are two completely separate ideas and sounds, so I never feel the need to compare them. They are both great but for completely different reasons.

Yeah, mostly because both albums represented what U2 was, people liked them and that's how they gain a lot of fame aftwerwards.

Most bands can't gain fame with just two famous albums.

Well Achtung Baby is the sound of the Joshua Tree being chopped down.

ok, I just turned into a total U2 fangirl after hearing the gospel choir thing in Rattle & Hum :sweatdrop:

^ this! :D

& just think...how many of the current crop of rockers/bands cite U2 as their inspiration/idols? :D

Wow, excellent HD quality. I was also very impress with the sound and video quality of the live broadcasting on Youtube. With all those people from all over the world trying to play it at the same time, I though the video was going to freeze from time to time. I was so wrong.

U2 is always ahead of most bands (Imax 3D movie for example).

PS. I've been begin Coldplay to do an Imax 3D movie of VLV.

Just got my ticket for Anaheim. Missed out on GA, so I just took the cheapest ticket in - $30. I was lucky to even get that.

This whole thing is nuts. They were selling tickets @ $250 a pop, and they were lousy. If I'm going to be unhapy with my seat, there is no way I'm paying $250.

It feels good to have a ticket in hand for a U2 show. I've seen them 3X, and on every occassion, I picked up my ticket the day of the show. I am still trying to upgrade, but at least I know I'm in (and I have been known to move away from my assigned seat).

I think they are going to add a 2nd night in Anaheim, which should lesson some of the demand. However, ticket scalping is very bad in Los Angeles. Those vultures always make a ton off U2 tickets, so I don't suspect they will stop anytime soon.

I have watched the concert and I found it very great :) The stage is very unique :stunned: I was singing (the songs I know) in front of my computer and dancing on my chair :laugh3:

It was a great idea, this live streaming on YouTube :)

Bloody psychic. They just did. :inquisitive:

Unfortunately I had to attend a lecture this morning, so I missed the opportunity to get tickets for the first show. Hopefully next week I'll have more luck for the second.

When will Montreal tickets go on sale, goodness!
