my two cents...

Ok, tryin to upload videos on YouTube (never done it before, it takes f-o-r-e-v-e-r!) but they're better than my blurry pics...stupid camera!!!

Here are pics anyway...a couple of semi-decent ones, but don't know how to stick into this message...argh...sorry.

Ok as for last night--Was actually able to meet up before show with Jbella and jasmynebirch HIII(and alsomusicman1990, i think)and put some signs on the floor seats. Though I'm not sure too many people held them up duing encore :(

Show was of course, incredible. Though for some reason I couldn't get relaxed & totally into it until about half way through. But that's just me...so focused on taking pictures, and checking off songs from my mental setlist, that I was missing the show! But once Yellow started, forget it!!!! :D I just thought to the first time I heard it live back in '03, and how it still sounds beautiful every.single.time.

After that I sorta forgot about which songs were coming, and was surprised and delighted with each one that came next. I got all emotional for The Scientist--still gets me--and went crrazy:bomb: for Politik! totally forgot that it's back in show, i f$@&%* love that song live! Also, didn't think they'd do TWO encores. I thought that Green Eyes and The Dubliners was gonna be a special one(two)time thing for Chicago. I felt so smurt singing along to the little chorus, :smug:. So the show in the end didn't feel short, as I usually feel after seeing Coldplay.

But I did IMMEDIATELY went into withdrawal...and my first thought as the houselights came back on was....OMG now I gotta wait until OCT to see again!!:disappointed: No, I want more NOOOOW!(I know, I'm spoiled, some people only get to see them one time, and here I am bitchin' about just waiting until the next time). But Coldplay is THAT addictive, and Live it's just the purest form of the drug LOL. HELP!

Though Chris wasn't as chatty as he usually is, and they didn't use those catwalk/ramps much, there were some funny moments. Early on in the show, maybe during In MY Place, there was the customary manly show of affection toward Jonny, and then dropping to the floor right in front of him at the end, so that poor Jonny's gotta help Chris back up hehe. Chris apologized for the postpontment of the show, saying that they were told that they should all get nose jobs and it was scheduled for the date back in June (paraphrasing). Also the whole explanation of the encore--"now we're gonna leave, but not really so you gotta yell really loud for us to come back, 'cause we could leave, then come back and play one more song, and then really leave. Or maybe not." (again something to that effect) Oh and right before Yellow, he said something like this is a song for those of you who remember it from 1971 when we first started...(and my friend was like, what 1971?, did he get that wrong?? LOL She's not used to Chris's sense of humor!)

So, in conclusion :), Chris, Guy, Jonny, Will, have put on an awesome show once again. That was my 7th! time seeing them, and it never disappoints, and I can never get enough. THANK YOU COLDPLAY!!! and thank you to the awesome crowd that always make it so much fun to be a part of the fandom:D

Hey everyone!

First of all, I would like to give a special thanks to everyone who helped out in this year's Coldplay Sign Gang campaign. It was amazing to see the entire floor section and 3/4 of the lower level covered with our signs (even though only about 1/4 of them were actually held up during the encore :() I kept getting asked about what Coldplay had done and why we didn't like them for awhile (in regards to the USA Still Loves Coldplay signs).

Anyways, Pam, thank you so much for the Section 113, Row 3 seats. They were perfectly elevated over the floor level and provided us with some astonishing views for when Chris would use the runway and for their 2 song set!

I will be posting my pictures online within the next few days, so please check back! Ian, thanks again for your help in contacting Pete from Oxfam; he was a great guy who was truly amazed that we wanted to help out Oxfam while passing out our signs. He took a picture of myself, my girlfriend, Jasmyne, and Jasmyne's Mom to post on the Oxfam Tour Blog. He said that he was also going to link coldplaying.com to their blog site as well!

Anyways, thanks again everyone! I'll be talking with you all soon!

Sincerely,

ColdplayJoe

The concert was amazing. Although, I will never bring my step-Dad again....he got drunk and almost got kicked out twice for acting a fool. He was embarrassing and wouldn't leave me alone!!! For some time, I was distracted and worrying about that but after a bit I shrugged my shoulders and ignored him. I really didn't care if he got kicked out. I actually hoped he had.

Security was almost non existent. No metal detector, I guy just peaked in my bag. I managed to bring a camera and video recorder. My Dad was in charge of taping but that didn't last long and I'm sure whatever video I do have wasn't made with a steady hand since he was intoxicated!!! I got some pics. Most are dark...I need a better camera. But I got a few gems and I'm grateful.

Anyway, back to the show. I had great seats. Row 12 and I had an aisle seat. I was right near the end of the catwalk. The side they did "Chinese Sleep Chant". They were so close!!! I held up my "Hi, Jon heart (picture of heart), Jess" sign (I know that was dumb but I couldn't think of anything clever. It got his attention and he shyly smiled at me.

Right after the butterflies fell in "Lovers in Japan", I left. THey were not finished the encore but I wanted to check outside out since I knew they'd be leaving straight from encore. Well I made my way over to the tor busses. I think there were five or so. THe were so easily accessible so I figured that was too easy. I walked some more and came to an area. I looked down over the iron gate and down below in a very secure spot was two police SUV's and four black SUV's with tinted windows with the doors open awaiting the band. THis area they were in was below ground level. To get out the had to enter a small tunnel but the tunnel was short. I walked over to the end of the tunnel and there was a gate with a guard. I asked the guard if the band would exit here. He said yes. I asked if they may stop (I was the only one out there waiting since I left before the show was over). He said they couldn't since they'd have a police escort. I walked closer to the exit. Within minutes I see the police car coming towards me with its lights on. I held up my Jonny sign as the guys cars went by. Will's window was cracked several inches so I saw him looking out the window. The rest of the windows were shut but I could see the silhouettes of the others as the went by. And they were gone.

I decided to go back into the venue. Thousands of people were rushing out and little 'ol me was squeezing back in. I'm surprised I was able to. I entered the lower level and told a fib. I said I had forgotten my phone. She let me in but another guy told me I had to leave. I didn't turn around to exit where I entered. Instead, I walked across the floor. On the catwalk on jonny's side I saw a man tearing up the floor. I interrupted him and asked for a guitar pick. He said he didn't have anything. He was American so I don't think he was with the band but rather employed by the Wachovia Center? I don't know. Anyway, I climbed back to the lower level and saw Matt, Jonny's guitar tech. I called him twice and he didn't look up or anything. I was heading back up and then I heard someone shouting "yo!" I turned around and Matt was climbing up the lower level from the floor and handed me Jonny's setlist. :) He said 'Here you go". I said, "thank you, I love you". I am elated to have just that. I'll post pics. Maybe someone can help me decipher what's written on it. I guess it's guitar lingo?

Anyway, I had a great night. The band was amazing. Chris' energy amazes me so. I love the band so much and can't wait to see them again. October maybe??

Aww I'm glad Jonny saw your sign, he's going to get a huge ego with all the love he's been getting recently  :P

The easiest way to insert photos here would be to upload them to a host site such as http://www.photobucket.com or http://www.flickr.com and then put the URL in tags.

Or you can attach them by clicking "Go Advanced" in the reply box and then clicking the little paperclip symbol to upload your pictures.

I hope that makes sense

COLDPLAY!!!!!

http://babygarrett.blogspot.com/2008/07/coldplay.html

7:00 - We arrive and find our seats (which are right by the stage, up high. Nice.). It's pretty empty. Hmmm.... oh crap. It starts at 8:00, not 7:00 Oh well. A whole hour to hang out and talk with my hubby with no interruptions. We discuss everything from Celine Dion in concert to the theology of evil.

8:00 - The opening, opening band starts. They're pretty good. Apparently they're some local band who won a contest to play here. A little toe tapping occurs, but seeing as I can't remember their name, I guess they weren't that good.

8:30 - Santogold. Just... oh, my. Hands down, the WORST band I've ever seen live. And that's saying something, friends. These guys come out onstage wearing white shirts, black pants, and white sneakers. Right away, I am thinking this can't be good. Then out come the two backup singers/dancers which I mistake as someone's mom and aunt. Nice outfits, ladies. I feel bad for you. Apparently Miss Santogold has bridesmaids syndrome in which she must humiliate any other female who shares a spotlight with her. Then, out comes the, um... singer? I think singer. She, too, is decked out in black and white. And then comes the... um... music? It's like new wave Pat Benatar, but not in any good sense of either one of those things. And the backup... singers? Dancers? Not sure. The moves are strictly old school... again, not in a good way. The sad part, their fans probably think I just don't understand them'. That's okay with me.

Now I know that most opening bands like to warm up the crowd by playing fun songs and getting the crowd into music and having a good time. I think Santogold decided to come at it from another angle - warm up the crowd by being so bad and so laughable (seriously... Jamie and I couldn't stop cracking up) that the crowd is hysterically excited to see whatever comes next. Just please, for the love of all things that are good, make them stop.

Moving on.

9:00 - Obnoxious drunk guys arrive and sit right in front of us. You know the guys, I mean. They are at every concert. They arrive drunk, use "F you!" as a term of endearment amongst each other, fight with everyone around them (including the old gray-haired lady in front of them who is pissed because they keep spilling beer on her - true story, friends), and shout "WOO" a lot before the show even starts. Not to be confused with the fun drunk guys at the concerts. They also arrive drunk and shout "WOO" a lot, but are funny, dance a lot, and are having a good time. I spend the next 30 minutes just hoping they leave us alone. Which they do. I guess my ESP was on target last night (Leave us alone... leave us alone... we aren't even here.) Oh, look, one of their girlfriends just showed up. She's classy.

9:30 - Coldplay!!!! They open with Violet Hill. Awesome. It's followed by hit after hit after hit. From Yellow to Fix You, to Cemeteries of London (awesome).

10:00ish - Viva La Vida comes on. The crowd goes completely wild. I call our ticket benfactor to share the awesomeness. :)

Then, toward the end of the show, they run off stage, down the side of the crowd on the floor, up one of the stair cases, through a stadium entrance and disappear. Where did they go? And then a few minutes later, out they pop at the back of the stadium into the stands to perform The Scientist. Amazing. This is my favorite Coldplay song for personal reasons. The crowd goes nuts. I discover that my camera has super hero zoom power. Nice.

11:00 - Encore! Out they come and play Politik, Lovers in Japan, and Death and All His Friends. Woo Hoo. The coolest part was when confetti blasted from the ceiling every time the chorus came around on Lovers in Japan. So fun!!!!

11:20 - Second Encore. Green Eyes. Nice. Chris jokes about them having to get nose jobs and that's why they had to change the concert date.

11:30 The end. Party's over. Go home, find out Evie did take her bottle and the girls were great and are both upstairs asleep. Nice end to an amazing night.
