I'm looking forward the hear the song. Maybe it gives us a sneak peek of LP6.

I wonder if they will play it live on the LP6 tour  If not, which they probably won't. Then we can put up a sign and ask for them to play it haha.

And Chris would say something like 'No we cant do that. It would sound horrible and you would be asking for a refund'

The lyrics are very reminiscent of the Viva era.

Honestly, 'Atlas' looks like a Mylo Xyloto era song, leading me to believe that it will not reflect their new album (the writing--as in font--and the pictures seem very akin to that of Mylo Xyloto).

I think Chris might just do that for everything. You could be right, just saying

Here are the lyrics typed btw:

(Verse 1)

Some saw the sun

Some saw the smoke

Some heard the gun

Some bent the bow

Sometimes the wire must tense for the note

Caught in the fire say oh

(Chorus) Carry your world, I'll carry your world

(Verse 2)

Some far away

Some search for gold

Some dragon to slay

Heaven we hope is just up the road

show me the way, Lord because I

I'm about to explode

(Chorus)

Carry your world, I'll carry your world

Carry your world and your hurt

What I'd say that this is going to be... different from anything we've heard. No too distant, but still unique. Simply because of the fact that the movie Catching Fire will certainly not have positive electric music, this is not going MX-styled song imo. I mean, it could be like UATW for sure or maybe UIF but I doubt it will be electric. If anything, it could be a slow piano ballad or a Viva-styled song, with slow orchestra, but I doubt it. I hope it is dark since the movie will be dark - and by what they are saying, it fits the theme. I wonder why they call it Atlas instead of perhaps, Carry Your World. I get that World=Atlas, but hmm.

Am I looking to much into this before hearing the song? Yes.

Don't worry. We all are.

And then watch it be dupstep. :shocked2:

I'm sure it's because of the Titan from Greek mythology called Atlas who is often pictured carrying the world on his shoulders.

the only problem I have is that they've chosen to do a song for a movie that's aimed at infantile teenagers. they're doing it for the wrong movie. I hope the song is good enough to be taken seriously

I am super excited to hear this new song. I wasn't really expecting any new Coldplay material until next year at some point. I hope for a strong piano ballad, but there's no real way of knowing how it will be. I think we all have ideas of what we want it to be and hope it to be true, lol. It's interesting because it could be anything. Coldplay is very versatile when it comes to music, and they have that ability to go down different avenues and experiment, so I really have zero clue what the boys will come up with. Should be interesting everybody!

I think this new song definately is not an old song from Viva or MX era, it seems to be written specially for that movie. The Hunger Games is also ispired by Greek Mythology. Or it could be that new album is coincidentally also inspired by mythology? :)

Anyway i'm really waiting how new song sounds. Lyrically it seems very very short song, so there should be room for beautiful piano and guitar melodies ;)

Well, i hope the new album will sound more like a mix between X&Y and Viva La Vida/Death And All His Friends.

Those are the best albums from Coldplay in my opinion.

You are kidding, right? :laugh3:

as I said in the other thread I'm super excited for the new song just like everyone else. I'm just saying they've chosen the wrong film. its like doing a song for narnia or harry potter or twilight. they're all the same.

Apparently Chris is a fan of the books. I've not read them, but they seem to be directed to more mature readers than those other ones you just listed. The first Hunger Games movie wasn't bad so, them choosing to it to this movie isn't the worst thing that could happen.

Watch the film yesterday....it was perfect, it was not infantile, trust me. Well there was no sex or too violence( if you consider with that a film for adultes) but the themes and messages were more important and serious than harry potter ( even if i love it) ot percy jackson. Now i'm reading the book and i can't stop thinkink of coldplay lyrics. I'm proud of the choiche of that film. if they have to do a soundtrack for any film, that is the only one i could accept.

Not really. Twilight is a joke. Narnia are classic books full of depth and metaphors, and Harry Potter's great too. These four books don't have anything in common other than the fact that they are commercially successful.

Who really gives a flying fuck that this song is for Hunger Games? I'm not a fan, but I'm still excited for the song BECAUSE it's Coldplay.

thanks for your insight specially since I haven't seen the movies :)

well it wouldn't exist if not for Hunger Games. so which movie its made for is pretty relevant. but you're right the song is what really matters here and if one thinks the movies are lame etc one can forget they exist and think of the song as an unrelated entity

That's true. Without this movie we wouldn't be able to get some taste of the direction Coldplay are going next. The song might be MX-like (or not) who knows? Knowing Coldplay, it will be fucking awesome :guitarist:

Exactly right. I personally think that this is a Christmas Lights like release. A sort of between albums kind of thing. Although who knows, it could be the style of LP6
