I hope we get more this weekend... hopefully whatever that is in the website code. Chris and Guy acoustic? We never really see just them playing anything, it's usually Chris and Jonny when the full band isn't involved.

They seem to have changed that on the new album. Jonny and Will have composed 'Conscious Pilot' and will eventually perform this with Chris and Guy in the background whilst Chris and Guy will perform acoustically together. I read somewhere that Guy will have a more important part in the next album.

Btw, just recently Guy mentioned Chris on his instagram account when speaking about Ginger Baker ('Chris and

I both spent much of our time in our first bands playing ‘Sunshine of Your Love’). He has never before mentioned Coldplay or any of his bandmates on the account. Probably not a coincidence.

I absolutely think that the upcoming album/s has something to do with the Solar Eclipse. The fact that there's an astronomer in the poster that aligns with the 1919 eclipse and the artwork on their website, it's starting to make a little more sense that it would go that way...

 

The 22 November, 1919 thing could be the basis of the concept. It could also mean the album is going to drop on the 22nd, at 7:19pm?

 

There's a solar eclipse happening next year on the 14th December in Patagonia. If there is a second album coming, perhaps that album will drop right as the solar eclipse occurs.

I'm wondering if we'll get to hear Will sing on this album, if he and Jonny have a song together. I love his voice. He's a great singer, for sure.

That would be freaking great!!!!! I have so many thoughts going around this new release, as I know all of you are too... Coldplay is in the air and I feel alive!

Am I the only one that thinks Will makes for a great backing vocalist but not so much as a lead? It could be a different story on record (vs live) though. I'm hoping for more weird voice productions, low register songs.

I agree, but everyone else seems to love him on lead based off live shows. I get we're all probably trying to be nice, but I definitely prefer Chris on lead 99% of the time but Will is good on backup. Ive done lead and backup for my own band, and they're both important, but I'd say Will is better at backup. To each their own I guess.

Will should definitely do lead vocals on (at least) one song finally. His singing is great.

Would love to see more songs like Gold Rush. More a little offbeat, whole band contributions. But slim chance I guess.

I agree. Will is a very good singer but his voice does not have the same intensity and depth as Chris's voice. I wouldn't mind him singing lead in one song at all, but for the overall album I would prefer Chris to stay the lead singer.

Its funny you say that, that why I stick to backup with my band instead of lead. I can do harmonies and the rest of my mates have an issue with multitasking so they really appreciate what I can do there! I guess you can say, im the Will Champion of my band!

I registered because I want to give my 2 cents to that beautiful collective wait and cause it seems like almost noone has seriously considered the hypotesis of an album with reworked songs. I find really strange the operation that they've done changing in b/w the Youtube icons for those videos and put the sun & moon only in their relative descriptions. Why? If we exclude that has something to do with those specific songs, it seems to me a strange choice because it only is an aesthetic thing that brings useless references to the past and could've done in infinite other ways. It's a new era! Why the black and white would appear in the past songs? For me it's not only a question of look.

It seems to me that they could be communicating us that an eclipse has happened and songs now have a new aspect, turning their sun in a moon, how appears in the descriptions. It fits with the voices about a second album more mainstream in the near future that has to balance the experimental one and can bring to a new tour (cause it is the only one with really new songs?)

It could really be the end of the first chapter. Coldplay rearranging their past in a more experimental way and then start the second chapter with the stadium-friendly lp9. Also all the past-looking atmosphere could fit with that.. nothing of what they are showing until now cointains links to the future.

TOTALLY SPECULATING, but I was guessing the band would go with a tease every day leading to something bigger on Friday, like a release date, tracklisting, or single. Seeing as they released this first thing at 3am EST, do I have to get up again tonight...?

 

While I was doing my research for guessing on an LP8 release date, I noticed they usually release a single approximately one month before the album. If we assume Nov 22 2019 is the release date, we are about a month away from that now....

"I'm gonna say it, crazy theory on the way: What if the songs that were chosen are going to be "Transformed" or be the basis for the songs in the new LP8; what I mean is, what if the "experimental" side of the album is the decontruction of the songs choosen, and rearranged, transformed... like a solar ecplise, something going/passing over another thing. We must find the relationship of those songs choosen, the meaning is found in HOW they are related! IDK!!!!!!! btw, I may be going crazy so dont mark my words..hahahah!"

 

So yeah, I totally agree with that posibillity....

Oh, I forgot! The wedding band seems to be more a cover band than a complex that composes new music
