Captain Crieff
You are right, the rest of the band would never do that, they aren't greedy. the greedy one could also be the management though, as onlylove said, Chris seems like that nice guy who just loves performing and brightening up random people's wedding
Nie
I have been very busy in the last months so haven't been around. And now I've just discovered that Twitter has suspended the @coldplaying account. [emoji853] Hope that it will get reinstated soon. I have sent a request tweet to Twitter.

Nie
^backup is here: https://twitter.com/Coldplaying_HQI was already following the backup account but I haven't been on Twitter for a few days. Also Twitter has the nasty habbit to change the option of which tweets that are shown when the app gets an update. [emoji2955]

Shoeboxlady
Happy birthday to this 'greedy' man, Chris Martin turns number forty-two! I think you are a little unkind calling Chris 'greedy'. I sincerely hope I was missing the joke somehow. Happy birthday Chis, the work you do for others is wonderful.

Happy birthday Chis, the work you do for others is wonderful. lol, yeah, I think you're missing the joke. As M Marks the Spot suggested, another user was suggesting Chris was a little greedy because he was doing these mini shows by himself and not with the band. I was being sarcastic FYI, so no harm done : )
M Marks The Spot
Have the Coldplay ever accepted a song written by someone else and released it as their own original one?
Zero Theory
Have the Coldplay ever accepted a song written by someone else and released it as their own original one? I don't think so. I think Talk is the only one that kind of fits that category, as they borrowed a melody from Kraftwerk and wrote an original song over it. But not a full-fledged song (like when they gave Embrace the song Gravity). Unless you want to talk about Viva La Vida and Joe Satriani, but I'd rather not go down that road
jc90
Does Life in Technicolor count? Timing between that and Light Through the Veins was close. Not sure who technically came up with the song first.

Not sure who technically came up with the song first. That's a good point. Yeah, Coldplay sampled the Jon Hopkins instrumental for LiT and The Escapist.

Talk also struck me but as you already mentioned, it's not the case. No need to discuss that. Let's not offer it up. :joy:

I searched it and have to say that it's quite similar to each other!!! :worried::worried: EDIT: Sorry, I didn't realize this was the Random Coldplay Thoughts thread. I don't want people to get worked up about it!

I searched it and have to say that it's quite similar to each other!!! :worried::worried: Alright, I didn't want to bring this on but since we've already planted the seed... Now I'm listening to If I Could Play by Joe Satriani and I can hear that one particular parts sounds quite similar to Viva La Vida. Just a little bit, really a little bit... But honestly I wouldn't have noticed it at all, if I hadn't find out that both sides were in court and so on...

M Marks The Spot
He should definitely do that. Provided that he didn't do it, he would surely miss one of superb ways how to celebrate his birthday this year. I mean, listening to 42 on the first day when you're 42. What more would you like?
yoyo2000
Have the Coldplay ever accepted a song written by someone else and released it as their own original one? Also, Midnight is based on an unreleased Jon Hopkins song called Amphora and ETIAW has the chords of the Peter Allen and Adrienne Anderson song I Go To Rio.

Thanks for your input. However, by my question I meant if there was a song someone else had written and gave it to the Coldplay to record and release it. Not like including elements from here or sampling this part from there. :D
