I respect your opinion. I guess their is nothing written when it comes down to musical taste. So it's normal some like some songs more than others.

In any case, I must point out that apparently some of the criticism have has some effect in the band, since apparently Chris only sang para-paradise yesterday night and not para-para-paradise like in the studio version. Maybe is just a coincidence, but who knows...

I liked this song, slow, calming but nothing overly mind-blowing.

In comparison with the rest of the songs, I don't understand why people find the need to compare. They are all different, and since this album is a 'concept' I think it is going to all flow wonderfully in terms of the finished product.

Thank you Coldplay for at least one good song. :)

There are a few cool other new songs also.

paradise :P

OK.. My first impression, last night I listened to it half asleep on my laptops speakers and I shared the feelings of a few others, repetitive and not all that mind blowing like R#42 had said at all.. Today over a breakfast of eggs and bacon and a pair of headphones I realize that I like it A LOT. The simplicity is gorgeous, and the ending is epic in a different way, not typical coldplay with the super climax at the end, just a simple riff with a few perfectly played notes and then it's over. It leaves you wanting more and I think it will flow perfectly into the next song on the album. Not as good as MTM, but I'll reserve final judgment till I hear studio version, good job boys.

For everyone who havn't got it yet.

Damn lag. :(

Yeah, I'm kind of wondering if my standards have been lowered :blank:. However, I can't deny that I really just purely enjoyed this on first listen, even if I didn't have the same sort of reaction that I did when I first heard songs that I'm absolutely in love with. I like that you can actually hear instruments more than anything else, but then again, it's a live version. My hope now is that they don't muck it up in the studio--same with all the live tracks we've heard.

This. It's what I was thinking as I was listening to it.

It's not as good as The Scientist or Fix You even and it doesn't sound like it's a single. But this is classic Coldplay. Simple, beautiful and elegant. I didn't get goosebumps like I did when listening to The Scientist and Amsterdam for the first time but I wasn't expecting to be as good as either of those. I'm waiting on a higher quality version though but overall I'm impressed with the song.

Hearing all these wonderfully positive opinions of this song, it's killing me that I've decided to wait to hear it until the album comes out. Only 5 more weeks! haha

this song sucks

this song sucks

if you're gonna say something like that, at least back it up somehow. don't just light the fuse then run away like a pansy. no one really cares either way, but you just come off as a knob.

Very glad to read this. Although expectations were pretty high. I always thought this song would be one of their best.

Nangolan - Embarrassing? really - paradise is a really good song - i've had people who don't normally listen to Coldplay or even know who they are - listen to that track and were really impressed by the track (also played them old coldplay, and they loved those songs too. Actually, they were amazed that a band that sounded like old coldplay could sound like Paradise and gave Coldplay credit for not being rehashing the same sound over and over again.)

And some of these people use to be haters of coldplay. So i don't think it's an embarrassing song at all. It's going to be huge live, and frankly I hope PH and the rest realize this, and not alter it just because people don't like the para para part.

very well put. i've learned to lower my expectations after hearing their recent stuff from MX so compared to all the rest of 'em except for Major Minus and Charlie this is much better, although of course no where near their potential

I love the song.

But the drum part could have been soooo much better.

I mean, Will could have added sometinhg more than just that clap and beat...It get's really anoying. Some real drumming would have been nice.

I just loved it. I really can't wait to listen to the studio version, i have a good feeling about this.

ok let me just think this through

edit: Okay, I want to clarify that just because it's a slow song it doesn't mean that it's a good song and I don't like up beat, but I did like this. It's sort of on Coldplay's safe side and what they're most good at. I would love to hear a nice upbeat song that isn't over produced and doesn't need to go to the pop route. It's familiar and I'm just a sighing in relief, but it's just one song and I'd have to hear the full thing.

possible- White shadows LP version he sings the chorus low and it's perfect, glastonbury '05 he sings it falsetto and it's dire.
