I think it's unlikely that a single will come out at that date...this happens twice every year and besides Chris would not be someone to highlight this piece of family history with a song, I'm sure...

I agree with this somewhat. I would like a song like VLV in the new album but I certainly don't want an album fulll of songs like VLV. I'd like to have some variety... that's an important part of it.

 

Also, I'd LOVE another Politik/In My Place/The Sciientist/Clocks/Amsterdam/Fix You/What If type song. I must admit I really love those songs... and as much as I love MX and say it's my favorite album (and I still hold my position on that), those songs seem to have something that the newer ones don't. I don't know what it is.. I'm just saying.

At first glance, IMO that thread's depressing. That thread only had to go on for 260~pages to get something. This thread has over 700 pages:(

like it's a surprise or something. What I find a bit worrisome is that they're grouping Coldplay in with Beyonce and Rihanna. Not saying I don't like those artists, and in my opinion they do make pretty good music but I really don't want Coldplay to go downhill to their level. Their level (Beyonce and Rihanna) is pretty good but Coldplay's music is so much better, I mean, totally.

 

Also, the way that's lined up is.. kind of suspenseful, I mean, that's weird to have "and... Coldplay" to line up like that. It's probably to get the Oldplayers' heart racing when they read that little section and they're hoping it's not Coldplay, and it is. :lol:

Here's a wild theory... Will CP release a new single next month a few weeks before Mockingjay comes out and then follow with AHFOD? Adele has released hers just before the new Bond movie... I wonder whether that's a publicity strategy given she sung Skyfall (for the previous Bond movie)?

 

It would sort-of make sense as I know I think of the previous movies in the series and often then think back to the soundtrack / theme songs. Also for people new to the franchise they might watch the older movies and then look up who sung the song (if it was a particularly memorable one). The new movie's free publicity without the record company / artist having to lift a finger ;)

Ok, this maybe irrelevant, but these guys know something. Coldplay Mexico denied a rumor about the Coldplay tour in the country, mentioned that they had a meeting with Warner. They really have a direct relationship with the discography.

 

They said:

Guy 1- It is true that the first single will launch next week? or is it a rumor?

Coldplay Mexico-Haha, that is a surprise, we can not give that information.

 

After, They say they are trying to meet the guidelines of Warner, but to be patient.

Hmmmmmmm........ interesting theory! Good thinking! You might actually be on to something, as Coldplay usually does those sneaky connections and sometimes uses the time of year it is to kind of hint towards what a song will sound like. It's not too out of reach as Coldplay really does their best every time to sneakingishly "connect everything together"... if you get what I mean.

 

Some people have said that it is a bit rockier than usual which may hint towards a Clocks direction.... although the people who did describe what it did sound like said it had more of a ETIAW/Paradise and even someone said a Violet Hill feel to it. Not that it's bad or anything, As you know I already say that Paradise is my favorite song, and I would be so happy to see this new single resemble that. But I'd love to hear a new real alt-rock track from Coldplay... seriously, if they can do that I'd be so happy.

I still love ASFOS, however just like you I do prefer the Avicii version. It's MUCH more powerful IMO... and it is also longer, and goes on for longer. I really love the Avicii version to be honest.... which is very surprising to say since in most cases I'd always choose Coldplay over Avicii. But, Avicii turned a great (IMO) song into an even better song. He removed the repetitiveness of the lyrics, he extended some sections, and basically he took out the flaws that were in ASFOS there already. But some parts in the Avicii version I must admit are done really weirdly and sometimes I'd like something more similar to the original ASFOS feel. Overall, though, I'd say that Avicii's version is surperior to Coldplay's version.

Don't even bother reading it, it's the same news that we've had for the past 10 months with added quotes from the interview a few weeks ago where the band said "they are eager to get the new single out."

It then talks about comparing AHFOD to the last Harry Potter Book

And it was acting like Just A Little Bit of Your Heart was a new song by Coldplay, when its actually one of Ariana's songs. The writer of the article is not too keen on music. Dont trust source lol
