LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"

Featured Replies

This is the first time we've got a really plausible date ahead of us. On the other hand I'm going to be really disappointed if the single is not released next week. The constant expectation and disappointment is too much for me.

Each of these second discs will have a title that branches off or is the opposite of the original. E.g. Parachutes / Liferafts; X&Y / DNA; Viva la Vida / Memento Mori, etc. And if we're getting really fancy and have a lot of material to work with, the guys could even craft the "anti-album" to either:

1) Tell the story of the album backwards

2) Mirror the story the album tells, just with different songs or alternate versions of the current "canon" songs

3) Tell a story that's the opposite of the one on the proper album. E.g. a love-centered album would be balanced with an album about revenge

I have lots of ideas. Give me a call, Coldplay's PR manager; we can talk. :awesome:

I don't neccessarily want those opposing stories, as that would require the band to actually become active again and alter some of the old release materials to make it fit the story. But Liferafts having unreleased songs from the (pre-)Parachutes era, Memento Mori having unreleased material from the VLV era etc. does sound like a fucking terrific idea. Phil, are you reading this?

pop rock , EDM , R&B .. newplay/oldplay I'm cool with anything

just wanna hear a new COLDPLAY SONG god dammit :(

I don't think Coldplay would ever do EDM, even if their new stuff is quite close :P

I had a dream that the album had 9 songs.

That's a nightmare, not a dream...

I want at least 12 songs and 3 from EP's and B-Sides...

I will forever hold out hope that after the guys officially retire, they'll re-release each album as a double album with the second disc comprised entirely of unreleased songs.

Good idea, maybe sooner than the retirement. I think an album of covers / "collaborations with other musicians" would be soooo nice.. I love quite a few their cover songs, and there should be interesting new ones coming~

I also feel the first single will be out soon...that thread has been quite silent recently:)

9 songs isn't an album, more like an extended EP.

FYI, GS was 9 tracks. Parachutes, 10

VLVODAAHF was 10 as well. Coldplay albums aren't very long (except X&Y and maybe AROBTTH).

My two favourite albums of 2015 so far have 8 tracks. The number doesn't matter, the quality does

I hope the new album won't be short like GS was. I'm hoping for 12 or 13 tracks.

Which is not enough IMO

Like another user said, quality>quantity. Also, I was fine with Parachutes and Ghost Stories in terms of length.

But at the same time, I understand what you're saying and would not mind if we got more songs.

For those saying youd be satisfied with 9 tracks, ur lying to urself whether u admit it or not lol. Ghost Stories made everyone want more, even with the deluxe edition and the ASFOS Ep. And

While quality matter more than quantity, it would be so good if the album had about 14 songs.

Not exactly MX songs, but X&Y songs.

I wouldn't mind if the new album was longer than x&y. [emoji2][emoji106]

I'm not sure. I think it would get a little boring after 70 minutes [emoji1]

So if my opinion =/= your opinion, i'm lying? Okay got it

If this album has about 14 songs, I hope half of them aren't interludes like MX. But if all 14 tracks were 3-4-5 minutes long, the album would definitely surpass their 42 minutes rule. That's why less but longer songs is still my preference. Even VLVODAAHF type of songs (double song). I'd be happy if we get a bunch of those, but I think the guys have previously said they wouldn't do more of those (unfortunately).

More hidden songs would be great. [emoji2][emoji106]

That might get a little too long in my opinion :P

Now, if they all sound different enough while still telling a structured, coherent story I could see the album successfully pulling off having 12-14 tracks. But, as others have said quality > quantity, and I would rather have a 10-track album of great songs than a 14-track one of good ones.

That being said, if we get down to 9 or less on an album, that's much too short unless we get a good helping of b-sides or an EP to go along with it.
