February 14, 201016 yr I completely understand why they wanted to keep matters a little private about Brandon's mother, and I think it's disgusting how people took the vaguely-termed "family illness" as a made-up excuse to not play. I understand their anguish about canceled gigs, but a few of the things I read across the Internet were outright inappropriate. Now that we do know what the terrible matter was, Brandon probably still needs a little more time off. Hopefully some good can come out of this, as stated above. Heck, maybe in addition to the band rethinking things, the fans can too. (I do apologize if that sounded sappy as hell. :dozey:)
February 15, 201016 yr they still have another 2 shows to play in australia on the 20th and 21st of feb. its going to be really tough for brandon to play these shows. personally i dont think a two yr break will hurt the band's popularity too much. Killers fans tend to be some of most hardcore in the music world. we often forget that these "rockstars" are not too different from us (aside from the number of digits in their bank accounts) so i hope the music media shuts up for a little while and allow the band to do what they think is best.
February 15, 201016 yr ^ I agree, 2 years is probably fine, but that should be the upper limit. I would like to see a year to 18 months. They are too young to need a super lengthy break.
February 15, 201016 yr Oh, poor Brandon! My condolences about his mother, I had my suspicions that she was the family member they were referring to, but to have this as the end result is horrific. I don't see them doing any of the shows still scheduled, losing your mother is a very trying time in anyone's life and not one in which you want to sing and smile and dance around a stage. I hope they take a nice long break and come back better than ever.
February 15, 201016 yr Those of you who read their official board will probably already know this, but Brandon's mother passed away on thursday :( I really hope that now people will understand how bad the situation has been for him this past weeks to make them cancel their shows and will stop whining for nothing. Oh no! I saw on their website that one of their family was very sick, but it never occurred to me. . . my condolences to Brandon and the rest of his family.

I agree completely. I assumed it was something like this that caused them to cancel; they wouldn't do it unelss it were serious. They must have known it would happen soon, because Brandon's mom had been sick for a while. But it is so sad to hear that she is gone:(
February 20, 201016 yr WOW. I just got back from their Good Vibrations fest. performance on the Gold Coast... What a show! Especially considering recent events, Brandon seemed so happy to be performing again, he was so bubbly and full of energy! I'll upload my photos/videos tomorrow! :wacky:
February 20, 201016 yr I don't think anyone would have been upset if The Killers had taken more time than that off.

I am happy they are back to performing again. I am not surprised they are back. For Brandon, I would think his time on stage would be a welcomed distraction.
February 21, 201016 yr Here are some pictures from last night (sorry that most of them are blurry, my camera struggles in concert light). You can see where I was standing at least.
February 21, 201016 yr Nice to see them back performing again, so i guess that's the end of the tour and no re-scheduling of the canceled dates.
February 21, 201016 yr Here are some pictures from last night (sorry that most of them are blurry, my camera struggles in concert light). You can see where I was standing at least. Wow! you must have been in the front! lucky!
February 22, 201016 yr Here are the best of my videos (I apologise in advance for the really bad quality!): A cute acoustic snippet of Human: [ame= ] [/ame] The ending of Bling: [ame= ] [/ame] Probably my fave from the night, the ending of A Dustland Fairytale (that song is AMAZING live!!), and then a beautiful rendition of Elvis' Can't Help Falling in Love that I think had at least half the crowd in tears! [ame= ] [/ame] All These Things That I've Done (I even got the confetti drop! :D)[ame= ] [/ame] The last song, When You Were Young [ame= ] [/ame] Wow! you must have been in the front! lucky! Yep, 2nd row :D I was waiting there for almost 4 hours, it was TOTALLY worth it though!
February 22, 201016 yr Oh my!!! You went to the show last night??? You're so lucky!!!! Ahh I didn't know there was a Killers thread too!
February 22, 201016 yr Yep, 2nd row :D I was waiting there for almost 4 hours, it was TOTALLY worth it though! I smile when I read such things, I'm used to wait waaaaay more than 4 hours to get to the barrier for them, we are a bit more fanatic here I guess  Anyway, apparently it went good, I read some reviews, they didn't play A Dustland Fairytale in Melbourne, which it was totally expected since his voice broke when he was singining it at Gold Coast, must have been really difficult to him :\
February 22, 201016 yr Great to hear the last few concerts went well. Graceful, your photos are really good, you're so lucky to have been so close! That is my DREAM, haha. I haven't seen any videos yet but I will get around to it sometime in the next few days. Singing Dustland must have been very emotional for him. Its significance really hit me when I was listening to it the other night, considering the circumstances. I have a lot of respect for him going out and performing; I hope they all enjoyed the last shows. :) They really deserve that break!
February 23, 201016 yr Yeah, I am sure Dustland Fairytailes has taken on a whole new meaning for Brandon. It's funny how songs do that. When we say break, what are we talking about? Time off the road? I mean, I get that part. But I don't understand why they need this lengthy break. They are musicians; this is what they do for a living. They are all young. How much of a rest should they need? I never got that. I mean, following that logic, I could really use an extended break from my job, but it is not going to happen. I don't understand the NEED part.
