I have mixed thoughts about the idea of Coldplay receiving such an honour. Would Coldplay like it do you think? I'm not sure it sits well with Chris' irreverent humour, but then again I could easily see him turning up to the palace in his 18th century outfit as an in-joke. Do you think Coldplay would like to be in the New Year's honours list? Would be a good thing or not?

Top Singles of the Decade #14 Viva La Vida Top Albums of the Decade #18 Viva La Vida Top Artists of the Decade #4 Coldplay Hmm, I think they should have been higher up on these polls. I mean some of the other artists beating them shouldn't even be on the lists. Though I am extremely happy that Green Day are #1 on all three polls! http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/31234753/the_decadeend_readers_poll

**EDIT: This post will be updated with the assignments as they are posted!** This may or may not work  I thought it might be fun to have a thread dedicated to making difficult Coldplay-related decisions. Basically, assignments that make you think about all of your Coldplay collection and what you can or cannot live without! A number of difficult assignments await you in Coldplay Boot Camp. :army: The Rules: 1. No whining, whingeing or otherwise complaining posts about not being able to do the task at hand. If you can't do it, don't post until you can! :whip: 2. No 'tie' decisions. See #1. 3. New assignments can be posted by everyone. If you can t…

With exciting developments on the new album today, I would just like to point out that I would absolutely love to have a song sung by our very own William Champion. With rumours that the album will be stripped down and possibly quite acoustic, it is no doubt made for Will to have a starring role on what will be Coldplay's greatest album.

I love searching youtube for Coldplay covers and in particular Viva La Vida, which has been interpreted widely by a number of greatly talented individuals and groups. Only this thread isn't for those established names in music, such as Avril Lavigne's The Scientist cover or Pendulum's version of Violet Hill. This is for the unknown individual or individuals out there who post their fantastic attempts of a Coldplay song on youtube. And I'll start of this thread with a beautiful rendition of Viva La Vida by Baylor University, which I understand is somewhere in Texas right? A 27-year-old man from Stockholm who claimed he was a famous rock star managed to swindle nearly 250,000 kronor ($36,300) from unsuspecting victims, reports The Local, a Swedish online news agency. The man operated in the Swedish capital, as well as in Gothenburg and Nyköping, between March and October of this year, the Metro newspaper reports. Using flawless English, the man would present himself as an international pop star. Sometimes he claimed to be a member of Coldplay [Chris Martin pictured] or the German Eurodance group Culture Beat. His most common ruse, however, involved posing as Belgian singer songwriter Milow, whose 2008 cover of “Ayo Technology” reached nu…

Simon Pegg hosted a programme called "A month of Matinees" whereby he picked his favourite songs and explained what they mean to him and obviously Coldplay were in there. He tells a story about Jay-Z getting slightly riled when mistaking Simon's playful banter as him insulting Chris  He also talks about Chris walking around with his pants around his ankles  The whole show is worth a listen, as Simon is a very funny and interesting host, but the Jay-Z thing starts at about 1hr 6mins in. And the Coldplay stuff is at 1hr 19 :) iPlayer link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00p7nzx/A_Month_of_Matinees_Simon_Pegg/ Site link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/…

Posted on 30 Jul, 2009 Echo And The Bunnymen have announced details of their forthcoming (eleventh) studio album "The Fountain". The UK act also confirmed several live dates in the UK. "The Fountain" is the band's first studio album since 2005's "Siberia" and will be released on October 12. A single, "I Think I Need It Too", was due to be released in August 2008 (!) but will be released on September 28, 2009 instead. The album was produced by John McLaughlin in the Parr Street Studios in Liverpool. Coldplay singer Chris Martin has collaborated with the band on one of the album's tracks. http://www.side-line.com/news_comments.php?id=43329_0_2_0_C New Echo & The…

I recently had to introduce someone to Coldplay using one song, and it made me think, if you had to pick one song that epitomizes the "Coldplay sound", what would it be? I was thinking Fix You for the first three albums, but once Viva la Vida is thrown in I think it's harder to choose one song that sums up all of Coldplay. So what do you think?

X Factor mentor Dannii Minogue has revealed that she wants Coldplay frontman Chris Martin to perform with Stacey Solomon in the final. Last year, the final three contestants were joined on stage by superstars, with winner Alexandra Burke getting the chance to sing with her idol Beyonce. Simon Cowell has reportedly raised the bar this series, by convincing Paul McCartney to duet with one of the hopefuls. And it sounds like Dannii is already planning Stacey’s victory, by telling the Dagenham girl’s fans over Twitter that she wants to get Chris on board. When discussing Stacey’s performance in the final, Dannii wrote: “Chris Martin and Stacey duet would be incredible…

I've always wondered who is singing the background vocals/harmonies in some of their songs. I can't tell if it's Will or Jonny or Guy. :\ In Don't Panic I think it's Jonny?

I had to go and do my driving theory this morning, and when I came out of London Bridge station on my way there I turned right, and walked on. I then turned right at the second turning by mistake instead of the third as I was meant to, and there I was in the tunnel in Fix You!!! It really made my morning! Coincidence huh? :D

The Sun today has published an article about festive songs, revealing that Coldplay frontman Chris Martin has a belter of a Christmas song which has been burning a hole in his MacBook for more than 12 months now. Chris Martin was part of the last non-X Factor Christmas UK number one five years ago with the reworked Band Aid single, Band Aid 20. He's also the kind of bloke, The Sun continue, who is partial to a novelty reindeer jumper... so they're 'writing a letter to Santa' to ask if he can persuade Chris to release it. Even bookies Paddy Power back Chris Martin. A spokesman said: "This year is probably the weakest list of contenders we've seen for the Xmas No1 in…

Any sign of this for release this Christmas? On another Christmas note, does any one else remember the gig Coldplay did @ the BBC in December 2004, that was shown endlessly over the Christmas period via the "red button" on the diital channels?
