Hey, new user here :) Have any of you heard the Coldplay song about Nappies I think it was? I cannot remember for the life of me what the song was exactly- but if any of you know what I'm talking about and have access to it in some form I'd be forever grateful! :)

Personally I think that their new music style is bad. The chorus at the beginning of the song and the new instruments simply don't fit Coldplay. What do you think?

'Violet Hill' is a huge success digitally - now get it physically Coldplay’s new single 'Violet Hill' was downloaded for free by over 600,000 people in the 24 hours since it was made available at 12.15pm on Tuesday (April 29). In the first 12 hours it was downloaded by 300,000. This figure doubled overnight as other countries logged on to Coldplay.com, the source of the free download. The single will be available free for a week and will then be released as a paid-for digital single on May 6. The group’s album 'Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends' will be released on June 12. A free Coldplay 7-inch vinyl single will be given away with the issue of NM…

(If anyone knows if this is the article from the Billboard mag I'll merge it with that thread) LONDON (Billboard) - The album that will put the new EMI under its greatest global scrutiny to date is also 2008's most eagerly awaited release. That's the official word from Coldplay's new boss. The band's "Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends" will be released June 12 internationally on Parlophone/EMI and on June 17 in North America on Capitol. EMI Group chairman Guy Hands, who led the buyout of the music company last summer through his private-equity firm Terra Firma, says, "Right across the world, this is the most anticipated album of the year." As the follow-u…

COLDPLAY - one of the world's greatest rock bands - have funded the purchase of a new piano for Moreton's St David's School, which suffered more damage in last July's floods than any other school in the country. The band gave St David's a £3,072-cheque to buy the red oak Kemble instrument, from Vale Pianos, because most of the school's musical instruments were destroyed in the floods. Coldplay made the gesture because they are keen to promote music in schools. Christina Windridge, St David's senior teaching assistant, said: "We are just so grateful to them because we have been able to use this money. The money that we would have had to use to pay for the piano ha…

Just thought id let all the coldplayers know. has anyone else seen this??? :)

With new single 'Violet Hill'... Dirty Pretty Things frontman Carl Barat has accused Coldplay of “jumping on the bandwagon” by allowing fans to download their new single for free. ‘Violet Hill’ was released as a free download via the bands website on Tuesday (April 29th) and accumulated 600,000 downloads in the first 24 hours. However, Barat said that by allowing people free access to their music the band were hurting smaller groups. “You can't escape the fact that big name, big money bands who release their stuff for free are harming the scene,” Barat said, in an interview with YahooMusic. "The industry is struggling financially and this is like missile af…

I would post this in the Live Section but more people are in the main forum so i thought this would be better. The only way you can get a presale code for concerts on ticketmaster is if you have a memebership with BestBuys RewardZone. You also have to be a member from May 1st 2008 or else you dont qualify or get access to a code. And if you do get access to a code you can only purchase up to 2 tickets. Im not too sure about the concerts that are listed on the LiveNation website. If there is going to be a presale on that site or if the dates will be added on ticketmaster eventually. I guess my advice would be to sign up as a rewardzone memeber at bestbuy.com if you arent…

Update: My mistake. This has already been asked here: http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/showthread.php?t=44680 The album cover only says "Viva La Vida." So where did the "Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends" title emerge from? I would have thought the title was simply "Viva La Vida." The longer one sounds ridiculous; every time a media source prints it I think "huh??" Can anyone confirm what the true title of the new Coldplay album is please and state your source? :)

I kind of remember Chris Martin saying something to the effect of: "Playing a guitar without any effects is the ultimate sin" However, does anyone know the exact quote? And also... where is the quote? I thought it was on some video, but I can't find it. Can you guys help me out?

Right then, given the change in the UK chart last year, where any song which has been legally downloaded can be entered into the charts, I think its time people start putting bets on where the two tracks, Violet Hill and Viva La Vida will chart. I'm guessing they'll be top 20 at least, given their ridiculously high placings on iTunes all week :D For fairness, we'll go with the Radio1 Official Chart, as there are several slightly different charts in the UK. This thread is for Viva la Vida only...

So, I guess everyone here is officially satisfied with the new 'evolution' of Coldplay then. I'm glad to see the progress that has happened sense Violet Hill came out. It seems people are actually enjoying the new everything about Chris Martin and Coldplay all together.

Coldplay: "A Spell a Rebel Yell" At this point, Coldplay is probably as sick of itself as everybody else is, which explains why this track from the band's upcoming disc sounds more like an "Unforgettable Fire" outtake sung by shoegazers than a Coldplay song. That, and the fact that it was produced by Brian Eno. http://www.washingtonpost.com:80/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/05/12/AR2008051202778_pf.html
