  1. So, sinced it looks like I am going to have a whole summer for myself I am thinking of what I can do with my free time....I don't want to waste that precious time I am going to have and I've been thinking of doing an art course or something like that I went to a pottery's workshop with my parents yesterday and they had some beautiful stuff and I found it fascinating....I feel like it could be something that's fun doing I consider doing a pottery course....there is a pottery's workshop not far away from where I live and they are offering courses... I really feel the drive of being creative, but I haven't tried too many things (except music...playing instruments, e…

Ok, so right now I'm almost finished my first year of university. I'm living at home and going to the undergrad school in my town. It's not a great school, but it's not terrible. But the thing is that I really didn't enjoy my first year...and isn't university about meeting new friends, having new experiences, and everything? I didn't have any of that. I just hung out with people I already knew. I didn't feel like I got the whole university experience. So I'm considering transfering to a university that is 3 hours away from my home. Money is not a problem, my parents have been saving for schooling since I was born! And this university would give me a better academic ex…

Do you or someone you know have it? If you do, how do you keep it under control? I bring up this topic because my dad was admitted to the hospital this morning. After extensive testing was done, it was confirmed that he's now a diabetic. Apparently, at one point, his sugar levels were around 700. For those of you who don't know, that's really bad. Don't worry; he's doing better and will probably be out of the hospital within a couple of days. Anyway, I guess I just want to vent my frustration and, at the same time, learn more about it, particularly from other people who do have it. I know, I can look stuff up all I want, but it only tells you so much, you know…

What kind of music is played at your workplace? How do you feel about it? Do you enjoy it? Do you feel that it makes you work more efficiently? Less? I work for a smoothie place. Because the store has a sort of tropical/beach theme, reggae music is played in the front of the store. I don't really care for it, and it doesn't affect my work (although I don't do much in the front other than clean and work the cash register). In the back of the store, where I do most of my work, the owners play Indian music from a laptop computer... all I'll say is that Indian music might be the most annoying music on the planet. Some songs last well over 20 minutes, and the choruses are r…

  10. I was just curious about compulsory exam subjects in other places. Do you have them in your country? and if so which ones? Here you have to do english, maths and irish until you leave high school and a foreign language is highly advised. You also have to do history and geography up until the age of 15/16. And in some schools religion as an exam subject is compulsory until 15/16 too. Oh and did you ever feel like they were holding you back?

Now after Japan's radioactive disaster, and reading about Chernobyl disaster 25 years ago and its horrible remaining effects, I've been thinking about this current issue: what do you think about the production of nuclear energy? Do you think it should continue, but in a safer way, as it's an advanced way of large scale energy production, or did this disaster came for us to finally learn the lesson? the thread is all yours :)

Was just looking for jobs and noticed a post available as a trainee funeral director. Turns out I can't do it as I'd need a qualification, but for a while I was wondering if I could do it. Could you? And why? The role includes: (Apologies if this is a sensitive issue for anybody, but I guess there's no great time to ask this question and I think it could be interesting)

So I've just turned 19, and I am not going to school nor do I want to anytime soon. However I do not want to get trapped working in a grocery store for the rest of my life. I stumbled upon a concept that is new to me, but seems really cool. It is called a working holiday. I have always wanted to travel and see the world, mostly Europe. I live on the West Coast of Canada, and am looking to move to the UK. I have found pretty reasonable flights in. On top of which the UK government wants me to have $3000 CDN = 1600 Pounds. Which I believe I can save up rather quickly. So I know there are a lot of Briths and mainland Europeans on here. My question is for you, does t…
