If its any consolation, he really had an extraordinarily beautiful and pure singing voice - I would even say the best voice in contemporary non-classical music ! I completely see what you mean. I only first heard it 8 months ago in July, but I only recently found out it was released way back in 2012!! Like seriously. I knew it was too good to be released in 2015... As you probably know it is one of my least favourite Coldplay albums, but there are rare moments when I want to listen to it. It's a very ambient album mixed with rock and 80's synth pop. I really wouldn't mind it if Coldplay went in this direction, just a bit more rocky than the aforementioned example.
