For more then 10 years I'm a member of this board now. More of a reader than a poster. Anyways, I admire the team spirit of the ppl on here. It's amazing.

 

 

The band means so much to me. Every day something reminds me of the boys, whether it's the number 42, something yellow-coloured, stumbling upon an anyhow-related song on the radio or just some other rather silly occasions in my daily routine.

 

These guys are like friends. They're my boys! They help me out of everything! Like a safe harbour. I'm a Coldplayer from the bottom of my heart.

Yesterday, while studying in my bedroom, suddenly my mum burst in with this little chubby smiling child I'd never seen before and told him: "Give her a kiss, won't you?"... And I was like "who the hell is this" but he looked so happy and gave me two kisses on the cheeks... Then my mother said: "His name is Jonny! He's not even shy!" while he kept smiling, and I just awwweeed :wacky:

Later on he noticed my Coldplay calendar hanging on my bedroom's door and asked me who those people were. "They're my favourite band! Look, this one playing guitar's called Jonny like you!"... Then, as I was getting ready to go out, I saw him run on and off in the corridor to often stop facing the calendar and stare at it, pointing at Jonny :lol: It was so funny.

 

He's basically the son of my dad's friend who'd come for a visit. I almost fell in love with that child, haha (and I don't go crazy for children)... I think he had brown-green eyes too. A little Jonny :D

Does anyone prefer the Blue Room version of Don't Panic over the Parachutes version?

 

I initially liked the Parachutes version better, but the more I listen to the original, the more I feel it captures the essence of the song and the message the lyrics project. A lot more ambient, morose and regretful. Utterly beautiful. It actually reminds me of Violet Hill in a way. Anyone know why it was changed? The original would have definitely fit in on Parachutes, it was radically altered in a way High Speed was not.

I am currently often subjected to mainstream radio music, and every time this happens I wonder how truly shitty it has become (imho got a lot worse during the past years), and how truly blessed I can call myself to know Coldplay's earlier works, as opposed to the new kids who only know the Coldplay of ASFOS.

The earlier work is always there. IMO people have no excuse as every single album ever produced is now at everyone's fingertips. If the only Coldplay you know is the Coldplay of ASFOS then you don't know Coldplay.

I was in Paris last week and one day I sat outside at a cafe, when suddenly a couple sat down at the table next to me...and the guy, he had sunglasses on though, looked exactly like Jonny by beard, head shape and stature ! I stealthily threw glances until he took his sunglasses down after a couple of minutes, and well, turned out it was not Jonny after all... :cool:

No idea, but knowing myself i would probably have spent the entire time of his stay at the cafe table pondering whether or not I should ask him for an autograph or a photo, until he would have left and then I would have spent the rest of my life pondering this wasted opportunity :D

So, this could probably be put into a thread, but some folks think Coldplay are a contender for the next Bond theme. The song has already been recorded and will be released soon, and most bets are on Sam Smith or Lana Del Rey, but how cool would that be if Coldplay did a classy, old sounding, and dark song called "Spectre?!"

Here's another random thing: Recently, a photomontage of Paris photos featuring shiny YELLOW things (Metro signs, postal boxes, illuminated Eiffel tower...) was posted by the Paris tourism office under the title "Look at Paris, look how it shines for you" - LOL
