Hey guys,i know that most of you guys dont like MX compared to other eras, but which are the better songs in MX in u guys views?

I think Us Against the World and U.F.O. are both underrated. Especially the latter seems to get a lot of hate. To me those two are true gems.

Oh, and of course Major Minus.

Actually MX would be my favorite album as of now. My favorite song by far is Paradise. It's absolutely beautiful... to be honest there's no more to be said, it's that beautiful...

I agree with the people above me. Us Against The World seems to get a lot of hate, same for U.F.O. Those are two of the most underrated songs in MX IMO, U.F.O is short which is one downfall of it but it's easily top three as far as MX goes. I think people don't like it because it kind of dampens the energy of MX a bit. I'd argue that even though it does slow down MX, it slows it down at just the right time. therefore actually improving the album IMO. It also is a song that has that MX feel to it so it isn't out of place. As for Us Against The World, that one's probably top 5. I don't really know what to say about it. It's a great tune that fits with MX, quite beautiful, and I don't know what problem people have with it. It's almost like an extended version of U.F.O. But I prefer U.F.O's tune a bit better than UATW therefore I like it more. Both very great songs overall, and they're very underrated.

Oh' date=' and of course Major Minus.[/quote']

Sorry, but I honestly don't think that's a very good song. It fits in very well with the story of MX which is one upside to it but the song itself doesn't feel like something from MX. In my opinion it kind of sounds... bland. Not really any MX-ness to it at all, minus the guitar, and the story of course. I really don't enjoy the tune either. But then again that "bland-ness" and not really any "MX-ness" in it might purely come from the personality of Major Minus himself.

I'm one of those who don't like MX and GS and generally prefer the older songs, but I never said anything against POC in particular. My opinion: Yeah, it's pop, actually not my genre at all but I have to admit it's a very good pop song. I dislike Rihanna as a person, but on POC her singing is OK. Her vocals are not outstanding but also don't ruin the song either, they are quite OK. I like the OOOOOOHs and the basic melody of the song is also good, so for me it's one of the (few) highlights of Mylo Xyloto.

I initially heard it on the radio before I knew Coldplay, and it stood out for me from the rest of mainstream songs played on the radio, which is always a good sign. :)

Well, I do agree that the studio version is more bland compared to the live version. The live version is awesome IMHO. And all in all I think it's a great song.

I agree with you because I think Coldplay has the ability to make incredible songs in any kind of genre. If you don't like pop, you have the alternative rock to listen to and vice versa . There isn't any bad song, it's just a matter of taste in music.

LOL. I'd say that about OneDirection fandom. Coldplay fandom is very decent and quiet, but as for OneDirection fandom, every single day I open the Twitter homepage to find another stupid hashtag of theirs amon the most-tweeted items (usually something long like #harrywewillprotectyou" or "sorryforeverythingniall"), and this seriously annoys me. This is not fandom anymore, it's a RELIGION. As I said, they top the Twittersphere almost every day and I get annoyed every time I think of what's happening in the world right now, but no one tweets about that. Being a fan should be a part of your life, not consume your life. I

I understand what you are saying. However, I have seen people like that in the Coldplay fandom, particularly in the younger fans. We have a combination of much older fans and younger fans, which may make us appear chilled out, but the moment you search up #guyberrymanismadeofpuppies you will see otherwise. Some of the stuff I have seen on Instagram has either scared me or made me laugh out loud. I can't imagine tumblr is better.

I typed out that hashtag in my search box, and I came across this

Oh and also, an instagram account named Chris Martin's belly button? [emoji23][emoji23]

I am totally seconding you on that!

XD yeah that exists too.

There is also a hashtag called, "#jonnysdoublechinporn"

I assure you that the content there is appropriate for all ages... I think. But it only shows that this fandom isn't all that chilled out.

i'm afraid to ask, but what does that mean?

XD Don't be afraid it's harmless but kinda weird.

It's literally what it says. The person reposts the same picture of a certain thing over and over again until it gets annoying and they add different captions everytime.

It's dumb stuff like this.

The one direction ones used to be the first thing to pop up when I search "the same picture of" but now it's the Coldplay ones.

Unfortunately, while this stuff is generally pretty harmless, It belongs more in boyband circles (As pointed out, it's more of a form of religion for teeniebopper "Directioners" than a fandom) This is a natural by-product of Coldplay's more mainstream and pop-oriented direction. I think this sort of stuff is rather unbecoming for a rock band who are fast approaching their 40's

But alas Chris has found the new fans he has wanted.

True. While I do find things like these amusing, the fact that this is being done too frequently to a bunch of middle aged men sometimes bugs me a little. The moment a young girl says, "I like four middle aged men" and makes massive fan accounts with the weirdest photos, even that in itself sounds odd. Coldplay is kinda odd like that. They certainly are getting pretty old now, but the crowd they attract is getting progressively younger. It's okay to be young and like Coldplay, but the moment the weirdest fanfiction stuff is made it gets awkward after a while.

let's face it, coldplay has always had a fan base that spans multiple generations. if you read/watch a profile from the band even as early as a rush of blood, x&y days, this will pop up more often than not. there is a higher chance that younger fans (who are into mainstream music) may find their way into coldplay now with their more pop-oriented releases recently, but having a multi-generational fan base is something they've had all this time. when they were in their early-mid 20s they made music that spoke to middle schoolers to 50, 60, 70 year olds. this is one of the reasons why they are one of the biggest bands in the world.

Of course. It's the magic of Coldplay. :)

Oh dear, yes, I find this kind of fandom very inappropriate and immature. I always thought because Coldplay is a more serious band and its members are all very decent people, that they attract a more serious fandom too. But as has been said in another post, those are the fans that its mainstream pop direction inevitably attracts.

OK, this not really a "Coldplay" related thought but there might be some simularities. :)

Today, a famous band in Belgium - well let's say Flanders - is bringing out their new single, called "Zin om te bewegen".

2 Weeks ago they were recording a music video. Today the new song is released on radio stations.

On friday it is going to be out for sale.

The new album is due for february 2016 and they start touring on 23/02.

Oh, by the way, the band is called Clouseau and their record company is Warner. :)
