Featured Replies

Only 10 days left, hold on! You can always just listen the snippets, though.

A-Wait till the album release, go in fresh!

B-Go and listen to the tracks and hear the spectrum!

C-Listen to a couple and not some.

D-Go listen to some Oldplay gems to get yourself ready.

This is like a quiz show lol:laugh3:

Hold on! Im doing it, we've only got 10 days to hold out. If it leaks we will have even less time to resist!

Thanks for your support I haven't listened to any of the snippets except for a couple of the ones we already know

and I'll go for option D @arushofjacktothehead :D

You can really hear some oasis/noel influence in Up&Up! thats going to be an epic track!

When is the Coldplay Zane Lowe Apple interview where they might reveal Hymm for the Weekend.

the worst of the snippets? ugh

This album will easily be Coldplay's most experimental album to date! I never would have thought that they would play the type of music that I heard in those snippets. But, then again, I thought the same when the AOAL snippet came out and the actual song was a little more mainstream than I thought it would be.

I've really liked every snippet. Only one I didn't care for was Hymn for the Weekend, just doesn't hook me in like the others. Hopefully the full song will change my mind, but unfortunately don't have high hopes for it as of now.

Is it weird that I really like Kaleidoscope? Reminds me of the ambient instrumentals in Live 2012

You mean the ones in the interviews? I die everytime I heard the one of Charlie Brown

I'm surprised at the general positivity towards this album!! This is gunna be an exciting era!

The Amazing Day clip is beautiful, it doesn't seem overproduced. Of course, that only includes part of the epic sing-along bridge, so I'd like to hear everything else.

Colour Spectrum sounds... beyond amazing. Even though Brian Eno only appears as a guest vocalist on Up&Up, I hear his influence all over this little snippet. This may be the most "Indian" track on the whole album. Too bad the other songs might not have much more of that influence.

The Up&Up snippet features one of the two guitar solos (which of course sounds amazing to me) as well as just a tiny bit of the "choir." Overall it is pretty solid.

The only snippet that I flat-out dislike is Hymn For the Weekend, but otherwise I'm even more excited to hear the full record in a little over a week's time!

Im putting my bets on the album streaming on iTunes on monday

I cracked like an egg :shame:

AHFOD: The one I'm most disappointed about. Why isn't Jonny's guitar more prominent? They always do that and it PISSES ME OFF mon. I do think the ooooh's sound better/less out of place here but then Guy's bouncy ball bass comes it and it sounds EDM-ish. Don't need that. Preferring the live version.

Birds: The one that's the best. Has a GPaSuYF feel to me but quieter. The song with the best lyrics (knock on wood) I'm betting.

Hymn for the Weekend: The one that's better than I expected. Far better than PoC that's for sure. Reminds me of Kanye West's first two albums (which I quite like for the most part). It's decent but the lyrics will be garbage I'm guessing.

Everglow: The one I have no idea what to think about. Can't tell much but sounds a little generic to me. I imagine it getting better.

AoAL: The one we've heard. Can't help those trash lyrics and woohoos but pretty good otherwise.

Fun: The one with the X&Y-ish guitar. The beats sound interesting. I'd say this one is close behind Birds but can't tell too much from it. Hopefully no generic love lyrics- Chris has been infatuated with those.

Kaleidescope: The one that's quite odd. The vocal sample reminds me of what Daft Punk did on Giorgio Moroder. Piano is lovely and it sounds experimental at the end.

Army of One: The one with a great organ. Has an atmosphere about it. I like the vocals here.

Amazing Day- The one we've heard live. Chris' voice is odd. Quite powerful bass.

Color Spectrum- The one I wish wasn't an interlude. I love the little sounds- reminds me of LiT a little. Up there with Birds and Fun clip-wise. These are only clips of course. :P

Up&Up- The one that still sounds great. I. Just. Wish. More. Guitar. Prominence. Is that so terrible? What I want for Christmas is a great guitar melody UP FRONT son. Doesn't suffer from this as bad as AHFOD though. The guitar solo sounds fantastic.

Sounds like a fun (no fun intended hahha pun) album filled with the joy and happiness that Chris wanted to get across. Glad the bands happy

I find amusing the lack of guitar prominence in almost every snippet.

Army of One sounds massive!

I can't get that hook out of my head.

Chills.

Nice review above! My personal order based on the snippets:

Fun (This one could be my new favorite on this album)

Amazing Day

Colour Spectrum

Kaleidoscope

Up&Up

AOAL

AHFOD

AOO

Birds

HOTW

Everglow

I find amusing the lack of guitar prominence in almost every snippet.

Did you listen in tw or fb? Ig has a bad quality of audio.

Mixed feelings, for now I really can't tell if I like it or not. Really dig the color spectrum, but I think it worked perfectly before the AHFOD performance at the Tidal gig, so it was kind of disappointment for me. It's fun to hear these snippets but they doesn't mean anything yet.

For now I really liked all the live performances of the album. Amazing Grace is becoming the best so far for me. Really like the string, bass, vocals and backing vocals of this song. This the album where Guy really shines with all that bass.

Amazing Grace is becoming the best so far for me.

How sweet the sound...

How sweet the sound...

LOL *Amazing Day HAHAHA although Amazing Grace is going to be in the album. LOL

Does anyone know where the thread is for the combined snippets, can't seem to see it?

Thanks :)

my (updated) review

A Head Full Of Dreams: too short, the lyrics are a bit confusing... it sounds incomplete, like Life in Technicolor i.... btw, that rhythmic guitar 'til 0'57 has almost the same pattern as the verse of Where The Streets Have No Name.

Birds: Chris Martin playing with a sample machine , his vocals are cool – talking low/whispering. You definitely can hear some reminiscence of Brian Eno’s ambient noises.

Hymm For The Weekend: pretty interesting CP going RnB, a bit Kayne West-y. It’s different from PoC, less electronic more groovy. Can’t wait to hear it fully

Everglow: piano ballad, oldplay. Reminds me a bit of Christmas Lights and Moving To Mars, don’t like the way Chris shouts Everglow, seems careless.

Adventure Of A Lifetime: dancy, groovy, cheerful, awesome guitar parts

Fun: LOVED THIS ONE :omgomg: I’m hoping it isn’t instrumental. Melody sounds like Postcards From Far Away and A Spell A Rebel Yell, also if u play the snippet along with Always In My Head chorus they almost complete each other :o

Kaleidoscope: Obama’s speech and some excerpt of classical music piece, doesn’t seem much longer than the snippet, definitely instrumental.

Army Of One: truly hyped about this one! Fix You piano fx + really nice beat. Could be my second fav of this album.

Amazing Day: I’ve find it a bit boring, Up In Flames esque. Feels like they’re trying to do a singalong like We Are The Champions but the song isn’t strong enough.

Color Spectrum: Brian Eno AGAIN, very soundtrack-y mixed with old videogame sounds. Short song, instrumental.

Up&Up: very traditional 2000 britpop song. Surely influenced by Oasis, first guitar-y tune of AHFOD. Not quite fond of drum machine in the beginning, but so far my fav of AHFOD :loveshower:

If I could change anything of AHFOD, I'd put Amazing Day before Army Of One.... would make a lot more sense
